Mrs. Morgan squinted her eyes and smiled, her voice gentle as she asked, "Why are you late? Did something happen on the way?"
Natalie tilted her head, glancing at the man beside her with an unclear meaning: "I was choosing a gift for you at the mall just now and ran into an acquaintance, wasting my time."
"Oh." The old lady nodded, her eyes lit up: "Samuel, Natalie is my honored guest today, take her for a walk."
Obviously wanting to pull the two closer, Natalie unconsciously shook her head.
Before she could refuse, the man said, "Let's go, let's go to the backyard, grandma just built a greenhouse."
She glanced at the old lady's smile, not refusing.
As soon as she stepped out, the smile on her face immediately disappeared, and her voice also cooled a bit: "Come in."
"Grandma asked me to take you out." The man whispered, his eyes still fixed on her since she entered.
She looked a little uncomfortable. She raised her eyebrows, her eyes showing an undisguised sarcasm: "I think you should teach a woman in your family when you have time, don't go out sick all the time, it's not a good influence."
"What's the matter?" The man frowned.
Natalie glanced at him, coldly saying, "Because you keep bothering me, I'm often bothered by outsiders, causing a lot of trouble in my life. I came here today just to talk to Grandma. We're divorced, our two families won't see each other again."
Her words were very decisive, just like every time she faced him. But he didn't expect her to reject Grandma now.
Samuel's jet-black eyes sank: "I'll take care of it. Grandma still loves you very much."
"Then wait for good news from you."
They didn't stand outside for long. Natalie went into the house to say goodbye.
Mrs. Morgan wanted her to stay, but she didn't agree.
The old lady sighed deeply, her voice full of sadness: "Anyway, I'm an old woman who can't do it anymore. My children and grandchildren are busy. It's hard for my daughter-in-law to come visit me, and now you're looking down on me. Um."
Hearing this, Natalie frowned: "Grandma, don't say that, I..."
"Then let me ask you, will you come visit me in the future?" Mrs. Morgan asked persistently like a child, as if she didn't come, she wouldn't let her go.
She was helpless to refuse the old lady, so she nodded in agreement.
The old lady smiled immediately.
And when a man heard her agreement, his eyebrows and eyes softened.
"Then I'll tell Samuel to take you out." The old lady finished speaking, then turned around and called Samuel again.
In front of the old lady, she kept holding back, holding back, but in the end, she did not refuse.
Samuel took the car keys to see her off; the two of them did not say anything along the way.
When she arrived at the hotel, when she was about to get out of the car, the man suddenly stopped her.
"This is for you." He handed Natalie a gift box.
Natalie lowered her head and looked away, but Samuel stuffed something into her hand.
Before she could react, the car "whooshed" and sped away.
She held the gift box tightly, feeling restless.
Returning to her room, she threw the gift box on the table and went to do her work.
This time, she came to the capital with a different purpose, which was to check on her parents' situation. Find out what they were hiding.
Because she did not want to disrupt the peace in the house, she did not ask directly, but that did not mean she would pretend that nothing had happened.
"Boss." The video appeared, and a young man jumped out of the table.
Natalie glanced slightly and said, "Can you use your authority to investigate the Brooks house?"
"The Brooks house?" The man was stunned, his expression strange: "Isn't that your boss's house?"
"Then, let's check what happened to the Brooks family 16 years ago, before I went abroad."
The only thing she could think of, the thing her parents could hide from her, was going abroad. Why would they let her go abroad?
Considering how much her parents loved her, if she wasn't forced, they shouldn't have chosen to let her go alone. Moreover, her memories of what happened to the Brooks family were a bit vague, always feeling like there was a veil covering it.
"Okay, I'll give it a try."
The pop-up window closed, she stood up, and was about to wash her face when her eyes stopped on the box she had just thrown on the table. She paused for a moment.
A few minutes later, she stared at the familiar necklace in the box, her lips curled into a mocking smile.
This necklace was bought by Samuel when she went to his house when she and Samuel were still in the process of divorcing.
She regarded it as a treasure, because it was the first gift from the person she liked.
But after the divorce, she didn't bring anything from his villa, and she forgot about this necklace.
Seeing it now, she couldn't describe her feelings.
Samuel said that he regretted it. Recently, he had been pestering her every day. It wasn't that she didn't have any ideas; it was just that there were some things, after experiencing them once and being hurt, she was willing to choose them a second time.
The next day, Samuel received a letter from the company.
Seeing that the things inside were intact, his dark eyes darkened.
That day, all the employees in the company were in a panic; no one could happily walk out of the president's office.
"What's wrong with Mr. Samuel? He suddenly lost his temper."
"Oh, it must be because the family is not in harmony, right?"
Glancing at a figure, the person talking immediately fell silent.
"It seems that the work is not enough; there is still time to gossip." Samuel coldly looked at the two employees.
The two female employees who were caught red-handed suddenly became furious, not daring to say a word.
Only when they could no longer see anything did they breathe a sigh of relief. "Oh my god, I was scared to death."
Natalie, on the other hand, had absolutely no idea about the effects of the necklace she returned. She had already boarded a plane back to New York.
She did not return to her villa but went straight to the Brooks' villa.
On the way back, she received information from the person sent to check the news. According to information, her parents contacted the Sombra organization, something she never expected.
So she needed proof.
When Genesis and her husband saw their daughter return, joy appeared on their faces.
"Natalie is back."
Natalie nodded, her heart filled with thoughts.
"Dad, Mom, this time I was in the capital, and I suddenly encountered someone chasing me."
As soon as she said this, their expressions changed.
Genesis worriedly pulled her hand, looking her up and down: "What's wrong? Are you injured?"
She shook her head, glanced at her parents, and said mysteriously: "I'm fine, but I asked my friends to check for me. They said it was an organization from State M."
After speaking, Natalie looked at her parents attentively, not missing the slightest change in their expressions.
Just as she had expected, her parents did know about the Sombra organization, because after she finished speaking, she saw them looking at each other with strange eyes.
Her heart suddenly sank.
