Chapter 2 - Chapter 1: Improvisation

Everything I had to go through.

I worked so hard...

And now,

it's all gone.

This has to be a lie, right?

It hurts more than being rejected by my ex-girlfriend.

What do I do?

What do I do?

Marco stops, trying to collect his thoughts. Before anything else, he needs answers.

First: find out what kind of world he's in.

Second: what city.

He walked for a long time, asking people for directions so he wouldn't get lost and observing carefully as he tried to get to know his surroundings. The streets were lined with monotonous stone buildings, with no details to make them stand out.

But anxiety was growing in his heart.

Finally, he stopped in front of the adventurers' guild that had been mentioned to him. There he saw people dressed in clothes that covered them from head to toe, long capes, staffs, and swords.

There's no doubt about it.

You're in a medieval world combined with magic.

Ask carefully and confirm the name of the city:

Capital of the Re-Estize Kingdom.

The king is Ramposa III.

His children: Barbro, Zanac, and Renner, the only princess.

That leaves only one option.

This is Overlord.

Hahaha.

So many similarities can't be a coincidence.

But how did I end up here?

Could it have been a god?

What deity sent me to this place?

So much hatred, I don't remember offending anyone.

Wait.

I don't remember what I did half an hour before going to work.

Did I encounter a god and offend him?

If so, I have no choice but to accept this place, live here, and die here.

This is stressful.

If it weren't for what was in front of him, he would have already lost his sanity.

The appearance of the system gave him hope that he could change his situation. However, seeing that the process was progressing slowly, he realized that it would take time. Until then, he had no choice but to adapt to his circumstances in order to get through the first night.

Since he had no identification or registration, he could be considered an orphan and a vagrant. Business opportunities were scarce, so he decided to take advantage of his appearance before nightfall.

(First month), day 13, 2:00 p.m.

Once the date was confirmed and he was ready, he carefully chose the busiest places in the city to beg.

"A coin, please."

People passing by on the street looked at him with pity and left a few copper coins in his wooden bowl.

A woman, looking at him with pity, whispered to her husband, who had only dropped a copper coin.

"Poor child, give him a little more."

The man seemed reluctant, but noticing his wife's insistent gaze, he changed his mind. However, he also found the boy's appearance strange: he was wearing simple clothes, with no signs of wear and tear, which indicated that he did not lead a difficult life. This aroused his curiosity about the boy's situation.

"Why are you wearing a bandage, boy?"

The question seemed out of place, and as the boy answered, he seemed to remember something painful.

"I had an infection that prevents me from seeing. That's why I have to protect my eyes from the light to recover."

Despite the bandage, you could see the tension in his brow and the slight tremor in his hands.

The wife, unable to bear seeing the boy's expression, signaled to her husband not to insist.

"What kind of question is that, dear?"

"Don't worry, ma'am, you're right. There may be people who cheat; no one would want to spend their money like that. Do you want to see my eyes?"

"No, I'm sorry. We hope you get better soon."

The woman took five copper coins from her own pockets and dropped them gently into Marco's bowl.

The husband, seeing this, opened his mouth as if to say something, but stopped when he saw his wife's firm gaze.

"Thank you, really, for your support."

The boy, his eyes covered by the bandage, let his lips curve into a shy smile of gratitude, accompanied by a slight nod of his head.

The woman said goodbye and her husband followed her after a slight push.

"Now I feel sorry for the little boy."

Marco heard the man's voice for the last time as he walked away with his wife.
