They looked towards the center of the lake and saw a huge beast about 900 meters tall had crushed all the beasts.
On a closer look they saw that it was a behemoth of a penguin with a crown on its head and its body was covered in a majestic robe of flames.
"Holy mother of hell. It's an Empyrean penguin. It's said that they faced extinction eons ago. Before the mass extinction they were on the listed as one of the top 10,000 most dangerous beasts in the universe." Fang Ryuu said what he had researched in the library of Fang clan.
~Siiiii~ Mei Lei sucked in a breath of cold air.
"Shit. What are we supposed to do now?? I don't have any qi remaining." Mei Lei cursed tiredly, She had expanded all her qi using a secret technique to escape the center of the lake and reach a safe distance, her body was tired and in the state of overdraw, her dantian nearly exhausted.
"Don't worry. We got this. Within this tier 7 concealing array it can't see us unless it's above Ascendant realm and you already know how difficult it is for beasts to reach above ascendant realm. So relax and gather your energy, maybe he will just go away? "
"Yeah maybe you are right." She deep to deep breath to calm herself down.

As if to mock them, the Empyrean Penguin looked over towards the Tier 7 concealing array and waved its flippers sending a fire crescent towards them.

Fang Ryuu dodged to the side while grabbing Mei Lei. Both of them rolled a couple of time barely avoiding the attack of fire.
"Holy! An Immortal level Empyrean Penguin! We are doomed"
"SHIT! GET UP! WE NEED TO ESCAPE" Mei Lei said with urgency in her voice and panic in her eyes.
Fang Ryuu looked down and saw that he was hugging Mei Lei.
"oh! yes!" Fang Ryuu quickly stood up without taking any advantage of the situation, if he took liberties with her in a situation like this then he needed to get his brains checked.
The Empyrean Penguin looked at them and saw their antics.
It assumed that they were ignoring him and got angry at the two ants for treating its majestic self as thin air. They stole his treasure and even dare to ignore him.
In a fit of rage he launched another attack. This time he attacked with his full power launching multiple flame crescents at his enemies. ~whoosh~

The flame crescents roared towards Fang Ryuu and Mei Lei lighting up the whole lake area in an orange and golden hue.
Fang Ryuu and Mei Lei quickly became alert and started using their protective artifacts. Dao bells, talisman, shields, arrays. They took out artifacts after artifacts, working their body in overtime as they used qi, willpower and even qi stones to activate them. Soon multiple colourful domes were erected overlapping each other around both of them.

The fire slashes of the Empyrean Penguin hit the domes breaking shields after shields erected from Fang Ryuu's treasure and creating countless cracks on Mei Lei's last remaining red dome shield.
The Penguin kept attacking and the duo kept pulling out treasure after treasure to protect themselves. Mei Lei soon ran out of protective treasure and Fang Ryuu was also running out.
"What do we do? Is this how it is supposed to end??"
"Don't worry Mei Lei I will protect you, after all this is that old fucker's fault that we are in this situation. I promise that you will make it out alive " Fang Ryuu said as moved in front of her to protect her. He didn't realise that the heart demon he thought he got rid was still there and influencing his will.

As I spent more and more time with her I felt that I was falling for her more than ever. Whenever I am with her, my heart starts beating like it's going to explore. I have been denying these feelings I have for her ever since I took over this body, but now I have this feeling taking over me, telling me to protect her at all costs even if it costs me my life.
My head was clearer than ever. My heart was beating at full speed as I turned around to take one last look towards the woman I inexplicably fell in love with.
I started straight into those big red beautiful eyes as if trying to peer into her heart. I put my hands around her slim waist and pulled her towards me, lifted her veil and kissed her lightly on her lips. They felt warm. Mei Lei's eyes widen in shock, her brain went out of order freezing her body.
The Penguin seeing this reached the peak of its anger and started constantly attacking the protection shield with mad force. It attacked the shield with its flippers banging on it in a mysterious rhythm.
"Lei Lei I love you more than anything in this
world. Let me say this one last time. I promise I will forget you after this and you will gain the freedom you so desire" Even as I said this I felt something was amiss with me, I tried to focus but that thought was quickly drowned by my boundless love for her.
~Boooooom~ the shield finally broke and with it something in me snapped, helping me break through and reach the ascendant realm, but what suprised me the most was the reason for this breakthrough. A power was surging out from my heart that made me somehow jump to immortal realm directly skipping the ascendant realm. New information about this sudden change poured into my mind, confusion and relief flooded me and my eyes felt heavy.

I blacked out again with only one thought remaining in my heart - 'Protect Mei Lei'

"Die you filth. No-one can hurt the one I love." A cold voice resounded through the lake.
