Chapter 30 - Chapter 30: Eren Yeager

The video began.

Everyone watched, curious what 'Titans' were and why Eren would use a rock to block a gate.

The first image: two birds flying across the sky.

Then green eyes reflected those birds, followed by crowds of people, all staring in shock at something that shouldn't exist.

The camera shifted: a gigantic hand gripped the top of the wall.

"On that day, humanity remembered…"

A voice-over began.

Steam billowed as the owner of the hand rose into view, gazing down at the people inside the wall like a god surveying ants.

The narration continued.

"…the terror of being ruled by them, and the shame of imprisonment inside a cage."

The camera pulled back to show a crimson Titan clinging to the wall, the walled city spread out before it.

Akame ga Kill World.

"That's a Titan? Doesn't look all that strong," Tatsumi muttered, feeling the creature's presence yet sensing no overwhelming power.

"Size-wise it's a super-class Danger Beast, but why does it feel… weak?" Bulat was equally puzzled.

In earlier clips they could feel the might of those on screen—

the Nation-Protecting Machine God's debut, the first unveiling of Ea sword—

but this Titan seemed only… big.

Being big doesn't mean being strong. In the Akame ga Kill World, there are countless Danger Beasts that are enormous in size.

Some of them are weak, while others are extremely powerful.

Naruto World.

"It's huge!"

Naruto's eyes widened at the sight of the red giant. He went on, "How does that guy even eat? And with a body that big, is there even a place for him to eat?"

"Naruto, your focus is kind of weird," Sasuke muttered, giving him a sidelong glance. A giant that size had appeared—shouldn't they be assessing its strength?

"Is it about the same size as a Tailed Beast?" Kakashi naturally linked the 'giant' to the Tailed Beasts as he watched.

The video continued, quickly cutting to the next scene.

The red giant suddenly appeared. It 'looked' at the people on the wall, then reached out and destroyed all the defensive installations.

The others panicked and fled.

Only one boy charged forward and attacked the red giant.

But… the red giant vanished into thin air, as if it had never existed. Only the gaping hole in the gate and the scars on the wall proved it had been there.

The camera then panned to more 'giants' advancing in the distance, heading one by one toward the breached gate.

Civilians ran for their lives while uniformed soldiers, resolved to die, desperately tried to hold the giants back.

Just a few frames were enough to show people from other worlds how brutal this world was.

The Hashira of the Demon Slayer World felt this keenly.

They too had lost countless Demon Slayer Corps members in order to kill man-eating demons.

It was said that during the Sengoku period, before the Breathing Technique existed, the Corps' casualties were even worse; they had to rely solely on their own strength to defeat demons.

The world in the video clearly lacked any supernatural power.

Still, the weapons—or rather, the devices—they used looked quite interesting. Was that thing called the omni-directional mobility gear?

It seemed pretty convenient.

By now, viewers more or less understood the meaning of the title.

Before the giants appeared, humanity had known nothing but defeat. Now, though they fought back with everything they had, their operations still ended in failure.

Then a miracle occurred: a human who could turn into a giant appeared.

In the video, a bald commander began outlining the battle plan.

In short, the titan-shifter would lift a huge boulder near the outer gate, carry it to the breach, and plug the hole.

The plan was brutally simple: everything hinged on that one human who could become a giant.

That human's name was Eren Yeager.

The video continued. Eren Yeager, using his omni-directional mobility gear, sped to the boulder and bit hard into his own hand.

Bzzt—!!

A golden light flared, and in the next instant Eren Yeager transformed into a fifteen-meter giant with hair and pointed ears.

But instead of immediately lifting the boulder and heading for the wall as expected, he let out a roar and lunged at a girl in front of him.

Akame ga Kill World.

"As expected, it's not that simple," Najenda murmured. If humanity's first victory had been easy, it wouldn't be worth calling a 'first victory.'

"That's pretty much how it is in remote villages," Mine added quietly, memories surfacing. "Without martial prowess or Teigu, people can only fight those Danger Beasts with their lives.

Tatsumi nodded in agreement; he had come from just such a village and knew exactly what Danger Beasts meant to rural folk.

Back in the video, the titanized Eren howled and, in his wild flailing, punched his own head off.

After that he seemed to 'calm down,' sitting motionless on the ground, white steam rising from his body.

He didn't move at all.

Seeing this, the white-haired woman on-screen showed no surprise. She fired a red signal flare into the sky.

Red smoke meant the operation had run into serious trouble.

Green smoke meant success.

By that standard, Eren's actions amounted to failure.

The nearby soldiers looked utterly disheartened.

But there was no time for disappointment—more giants were entering the city. If they didn't pull back now, their lives would be forfeit.

On another section of the wall, a blond boy saw the red flare, set down his gear, and hurried toward the battlefield.
