Chapter 38 - Lovely moment part 2

Felix nods, tilting his head curiously.

"Of course," he says softly. "You can ask me anything."

Jake steels himself, taking a deep breath. He still seems a little nervous, but his fingers are steadier now.

"I... I didn't want to ask it too soon," he starts. "But..."

Felix squeezes his hand gently.

"But?" he repeats, encouraging.

"But I can't wait anymore," Jake whispers, eyes shimmering as he looks at Felix—really looks at him.

He takes a slow breath, then drops to one knee right there on the kitchen floor, still holding Felix's hand.

"Felix… will you marry me? Not because of the baby. Not because it's expected. But because I love you. Because I've always loved you. Because every morning I want to wake up with you beside me... and every night, fall asleep holding your hand."

His voice cracks—soft but sure:

"...Be my husband?"

The corner of Felix's mouth quirks up in a teary smile, and he brushes away a tear with the back of his hand.

"You're gonna marry me twice now?" he whispers, voice quavering with emotion. "The one in England wasn't enough?"

Jake grins sheepishly, still on his knee, still holding Felix's hand tightly.

"That one was for show," he replies. "This one's for real. Just you and me… and the little one who's already kicking their way into our lives."

Felix laughs softly, hand still resting over his stomach.

"They're going to be one hell of a wedding crasher if they keep kicking like this," he teases.

Jake's grin widens, eyes sparkling.

"I can see it now, wearing a little tuxedo while they upstage our vows..."

Felix rolls his eyes playfully, still smiling.

"Oh god, imagine them as ring bearers," he laughs. "They'll probably spit up all over the flower girl."

Jake can't help but chuckle, imagining it.

"Or they'll try to crawl down the aisle before we even start the ceremony."

"And if they cry during the vows?" Felix says, grinning. "What then?"

Jake shrugs, utterly unfazed.

"We'll just talk louder," he says with a wink. "Besides—best man's gotta make an entrance."

Felix shakes his head, tears and laughter mixing together.

"...Yes," he whispers suddenly, squeezing Jake's hand. "Yes, I'll marry you. Again."

Jake beams—bright as the morning sun spilling into the kitchen—and leans forward to kiss him softly.

No cameras or crowds.

Just love… real and quiet and theirs.

When they finally pull apart, Jake rests his forehead against Felix's, still grinning.

"We're really doing this," he breathes. "Married. For real this time."

Felix laughs softly—warm and full—and runs a hand through Jake's hair.

"Just promise me one thing," he murmurs.

Jake tilts his head, serious now.

"Anything."

Felix smiles.

"No more YouTube recipes."

Jake bursts out laughing—wild and joyful—as Felix tugs him up onto the couch beside him, their hands once again entwined over their growing future.

Outside, the city hums on.

But inside? It's perfect.

They sit there for a long moment, smiling in the warm sunlight, just happy to be together after everything they've been through. Felix's head rests on Jake's shoulder, their free hands still linked.

Then there it is again—that gentle fluttering under Felix's sweater as the baby kicks.

Jake looks down, awed, hand moving to rest gently over Felix's stomach.

"There they go again," he whispers. "Can't they tell we're having a moment?"

Felix laughs softly, resting a hand over Jake's.

"They're just getting a head start on interrupting our moments for the next 18 years," he replies. "They're going to be a handful, just like their dad."

Jake grins, pressing a soft kiss to Felix's temple.

"We'll be outnumbered," he murmurs against his skin. "But I've got a good feeling about it."

"Three hearts in one home," Felix whispers, fingers lacing with Jake's.

Jake smiles, feeling another kick—stronger this time—and he leans down, voice warm and close to Felix's stomach.

"Hey there, little one," he says softly. "Yeah... we see you. You can't hide in there forever."

Felix chuckles as the baby kicks again—almost like a reply.

"...I think they just said 'watch me,'" Jake laughs.

And in that quiet moment, sunlight on skin,

laughter filling the room, love cradling them all— they don't need anything else.

Just this. Each other.

And the beautiful mess they're building… together.

Jake rests his hand gently over Felix's bump, feeling the soft, steady movements beneath.

"You think they'll be born with a spotlight?" he whispers with a smile. "Like they already know how to steal every scene?"

Felix snorts.

"If they're anything like you? Absolutely. Paparazzi won't stand a chance."

Jake grins wide.

"Or maybe… just maybe… they'll be quiet. Sweet little thing who loves books and pajamas and hates cameras."

Felix raises an eyebrow.

"…You can dream."

They both laugh—low and warm—and for the first time in forever,

the future doesn't feel uncertain.

It feels like home.

Jake lets out a contented sigh, resting his head against Felix's shoulder.

"Can we just... stay here?" he murmurs.

Felix smiles, one hand gently playing with the hair at the nape of Jake's neck.

"We've got nowhere else to be," he whispers.

Outside, the city is waking up. Horns honk. Traffic buzzes.

But inside their perfect bubble, all that exists is the quiet sound of love— soft and steady and real.

And then—just as the morning sun spills fully across the couch—

the baby kicks again.

Harder this time.

"Whoa," Jake breathes, eyes wide. "That one almost knocked my hand off!"

Felix laughs—soft and full—and leans back into him.

"That's their signature move," he says. "Future dancer or soccer player. No in-between."

Jake grins, rubbing slow circles over the spot.

"Teach 'em how to kick up their heels on stage instead," he teases. "We'll make a tiny Broadway star."

Felix rolls his eyes—but there's a spark of joy in them.

"...Our kid's going to be perfect no matter what they do, you know that?"

Jake turns his face into Felix's neck, breathing him in—the warmth, the love, everything real and finally right again.

"Yeah," he whispers. "They really are."

"Just like their daddy," Jake adds softly, pressing a kiss to Felix's shoulder.

Felix blushes—rare, beautiful—and hides his face in Jake's hair.

"You're gonna make me cry again," he murmurs.

Jake grins against his skin.

"Worth it."

Outside, the city hums louder now—life rushing forward.

But here?

In this quiet corner of the world— they're still curled together, holding on, healing, growing.

And for the first time in so long…

everything feels exactly as it should be.

The baby kicks again—strong, insistent—as if demanding their attention.

Felix lets out a soft laugh. "Okay, okay… we know. You're in charge now."

Jake rests his hand gently over the bump, voice low and sweet.

"Yeah," he murmurs. "You're the boss of us already."

And maybe it's true— because right here, in this sunlit silence, with love wrapped around them like a blanket— they aren't just becoming parents.

They're becoming a family.

And that little kick?

It's not just movement.

It's magic beginning.

Felix tucks his head beneath Jake's chin, eyes closing.

"I swear, this baby's going to be born with a full vocabulary," he murmurs. "They're so active."

Jake grins, stroking small circles over the bump.

"Maybe they're already practicing their acceptance speech."

Felix laughs, shaking his head.

"Academy Awards, here we come."

Jake holds him tighter, burying a smile in his hair.

"I don't care if they end up being a lawyer or an artist, a chef or a teacher," he whispers

"...as long as they're kind," Jake whispers, voice thick with love. "As long as they know how loved they are."

Felix turns in his arms, meeting his gaze.

"They'll know," he says softly. "Because you'll tell them every day."

Jake smiles—warm, true—and brushes a thumb over Felix's cheek.

"Yeah," he breathes. "I will."

Outside, the world keeps turning.

But here?

In this quiet, sunlit room— a family begins.

Not with fanfare, but with feeling. With forgiveness, with second chances, with tiny kicks and soft laughter

and two hearts that found their way back home.

"I love you," Jake murmurs, resting his forehead against Felix's.

"More than anything in this world."

Felix smiles, leaning into his touch.

"Even YouTube?" he teases.

Jake laughs—bright and beautiful—and presses a kiss to his brow.

"Even more than YouTube," he whispers against his skin. "More than everything."

Felix's eyes flutter closed, and he lets out a contented sigh.

"Good," he whispers. "Because you're stuck with me."

Jake holds him tighter, pulling him close

"Forever," he whispers.

Felix smiles up at him, fingers tracing patterns over his skin.

"Even when I'm cranky at 3:00 AM with swollen ankles?"

Jake grins, pressing a gentle kiss to his cheek.

"Especially then. I'll bring you ice cream."

"And foot rubs?" Felix adds, raising an eyebrow.

"And foot rubs," Jake promises solemnly, hand over his heart. "Even if you swear they smell like death."

Felix snorts.

"They *will* smell like death. Pregnancy is a miracle, not a spa."

Jake laughs—low and warm—and wraps both arms around him.

"Then I'll wear gloves," he whispers. "Whatever it takes."

Felix shakes his head, but he's smiling—soft and full of love.

"...You're going to be insufferable when you're being sweet."

Jake grins wider.

"Only for you."

Outside, the city buzzes on— but here, in this quiet embrace, love hums louder than any noise, stronger than any past mistake—perfect in its imperfect peace.

Outside the penthouse window—just beyond the golden glow of morning light—a shadow lingers in the alley below.

A man stands motionless, face hidden beneath a hood, eyes sharp and cold as they lock onto Jake and Felix through the glass.

He watches them laugh. Touch. Hold each other.

Watches their hands rest on Felix's stomach—on what he sees as *contamination*, *weakness*, *a betrayal* of pure bloodlines.

His lip curls into a sneer.

"...Happy now?" he mutters, voice low and venomous. "Not for long."

He grips something beneath his coat—a syringe filled with dark liquid labeled **"Omega Suppressant – Class X."**

"The Council doesn't allow abominations to rise," he whispers. "And that child... shouldn't exist."

With one last glare at the couple bathed in sunlight— he melts into the shadows, gone like smoke, but not forgotten.

Inside, Jake suddenly stiffens—as if feeling eyes on him—but when he turns toward the window...

...there's no one there.

Just quiet city noise below, and Felix still nestled safely in his arms, oblivious to danger already moving toward them...
