Chapter 142: The City of Neon Dreams and the Great "Monday" Deletion
The reality of the city was no longer "real" in the way it used to be. As Volt and his family stepped out of Ahmed's screen, the fabric of the neighborhood began to ripple like silk in a high-speed fan. The 150 Million Influence Points were pouring out of Volt's Author Mark, turning every mundane object into a "Legendary Item".
"Father," Anos said, looking at the city skyline which was now pulsating with violet neon lights. "The 'Real World' has a very high resistance to magic, but it has zero resistance to 'Rule of Cool.' I've successfully hacked the local weather system. I've scheduled a 100% chance of 'Glorious Celebration' for the next 48 hours."
Akuto, who had already found Ahmed's stash of snacks, was currently teaching a stray cat how to speak five languages and fly using tiny, dark-energy wings. "Listen, Ahmed! We're going to the City Center. I heard they have these things called 'Traffic Jams.' I'm going to turn them into 'Dance Jams'!"
The group descended into the streets. It was absolute, glorious chaos.
A group of businessmen in grey suits were walking to work, looking miserable. Volt snapped his fingers. Suddenly, their briefcases turned into Portable Boomboxes, and their suits transformed into Holographic Disco-Armor.
"Stop walking!" Volt bellowed, his voice carrying the authority of the Editor-in-Chief. "The concept of 'The Grind' has been deleted from the source code! From now on, your salary is determined by how well you can do the 'Moonwalk'!"
The 150 Million Influence Points surged, and the "Applying" phase of this new reality was completed instantly. The businessmen didn't even look confused; they just started a coordinated breakdance routine in the middle of the intersection.
"Akuto, handle the transportation!" Volt commanded.
Akuto pulled out his rubber chicken, which was now a Multiversal Summoning Tool. He pointed it at the sky. "Come forth, my scaly racers!"
From the violet clouds, a squadron of Laser-Raptors on Jet-Skis (from the previous chapters) descended. They landed in front of the local buses. Within seconds, every public bus in the city was replaced by a Giant, Flying Blue Whale with a luxury lounge on its back.
"Hop on, everyone!" Akuto shouted to the stunned crowd. "The rides are free, and the snacks are provided by the Demon King's private cellar!"
Vanessa and Sasha walked through the local park, turning the fountains into chocolate milk and the pigeons into tiny, singing phoenixes. Karin was busy rewriting the local library; instead of silent study rooms, they were now "Interactive Adventure Zones" where you could literally step into any book you wanted.
The Grand Overseer, who was desperately trying to keep track of the "Normalcy Levels," watched as his clipboard burst into flames. "Volt! You just turned the Stock Market into a giant game of 'Pin the Tail on the Galaxy'! The global economy is now based on 'High-Fives'!"
"Good!" Volt laughed, standing on top of a skyscraper that he had just turned into a giant, glowing DJ booth. "High-fives are much more stable than gold, Overseer!"
As the sun set—which was now a deep, regal violet—the city center became the heart of a multiversal festival. Anos took the stage, using his God-Slayer blade to project a light show that could be seen from the International Space Station. Akuto was leading a parade of laser-dinosaurs through the shopping district, handing out "Magic Coupons" that never expired.
Volt stood at the edge of the skyscraper, looking down at the happy, dancing city. He looked at Ahmed, who was now wearing a "Co-Author" cape.
"You see, Ahmed? The 'Real World' just needed a bit of an edit," Volt said, the Author's Mark glowing with absolute satisfaction. "Why be a character in someone else's boring story when you can be the Editor of your own joy?"
The system notification appeared in the sky for everyone to see:
[GLOBAL UPDATE: MONDAYS HAVE BEEN REMOVED FROM THE CALENDAR. EVERY DAY IS NOW 'SATURDAY 2.0'].
The influence count hit 200 Million. The multiverse and the real world were no longer separate; they were one giant, chaotic, beautiful masterpiece.
"So," Akuto said, landing next to them with a jet-powered Raptor. "Now that we've fixed the city... who wants to go to the bottom of the ocean and host an 'Under-Sea Rave' for the sharks?"
