While the Heaven Dou Imperial Palace buzzed with activity, Li Rong's shop was no less lively.
The moment Ning Fengzhi and Dugu Bo departed, the intelligence agents stationed nearby began spreading the news. Before long, sects, noble families, and academies—each backed by at least a Spirit Douluo—arrived one after another.
At first, Li Rong welcomed everyone with a courteous smile, patiently answering their questions. As time passed, however, the smile on his face grew stiff.
The reason was simple.
These people asked endlessly—but their wallets were painfully empty.
After receiving batch after batch of visitors, not a single force spent more than ten thousand sacrificial coins. Most merely browsed, broadened their horizons, and left. Only a handful exchanged for low-tier support-system secret manuals.
One example was the head of Blue Tyrant Academy, Liu Erlong. She arrived with her nephew and traded a high-grade spirit tool plus an ordinary ten-thousand-year Spirit Bone for the Di Yuan Body Tempering Skill, a third-grade support-system secret manual.
A lightning-attribute sect choosing an earth-attribute manual?
Li Rong reminded them that support-system manuals had no attribute conflicts, posed no risk of qi deviation, and that incompatibility would only reduce effectiveness—not cause harm. Even so, seeing their expressions of discovering a priceless treasure left him momentarily speechless.
These were minor annoyances.
More troublesome were those who secretly slid storage spirit tools across the counter, insisting there was a "small token of appreciation" inside—nothing more than congratulations on the shop's opening.
They praised Li Rong's "full forehead and square jaw," claimed he was clearly destined for greatness, and invited him to the Prosperous Flower Tower for a lavish banquet. They emphasized that it wasn't wasteful at all—merely an opportunity to deepen friendly relations. Naturally, it would be even better if Boss Li could casually reveal next month's activity list.
Li Rong rejected everything without hesitation.
What a joke. As someone who instinctively changed channels when secondhand embarrassment appeared on television, attending a flattery banquet would be pure torture. He would probably dig through the floor trying to escape.
As for inquiries about the next activity list, Li Rong gave a uniform response:
"This matter is not within my authority, nor can I know it in advance."
Some accepted the answer. Others did not.
Liu Erlong, in particular, lingered. She repeatedly asked whether there were pills that could remedy innate malignant Spirit mutations, whether such pills were effective against top-tier Spirits, how thorough the treatment could be, how expensive they were, and how often they appeared in stock.
Li Rong answered patiently—yes, such pills existed; the effect depended on the pill's grade and the severity of the mutation; the price exceeded pills of the same rank; and the chance of availability was extremely low.
Internally, however, he was screaming.
I can answer your questions. I understand your excitement. But could you stand a little farther away? I have social anxiety around beautiful women.
Unfortunately, that could not be said aloud.
Before he could finally send Liu Erlong away, another young woman approached. A faint fragrance drifted toward him, accompanied by exposed patches of pale skin.
Li Rong's mind nearly short-circuited.
Without hesitation, he exchanged for a mechanized mind, forcibly stabilizing his emotions to prevent public humiliation.
Ye Xintang was the current head of the Ye family and a renowned healing-system Spirit Master.
Compared to the Seven Treasure Glazed Tile School's power-enhancing support, the Ye family's inherited Nine-Heart Sea Begonia belonged to the pure healing path. It carried an unmatched reputation within the Spirit Master world: as long as the Nine-Heart Sea Begonia exists, companions will not die.
Yet its flaws were just as infamous.
First, it could only heal wounds—it lacked detoxification, spirit power recovery acceleration, or consumption reduction.
Second, it could heal injuries but could not regenerate severed limbs.
Third—and most fatal—only two people per generation could awaken the Nine-Heart Sea Begonia. Once two had appeared, all remaining clan members would awaken only the inferior Sea Begonia Spirit, even if they were direct descendants.
The first two flaws were tolerable. No Spirit was perfect. Even the Seven Treasure Glazed Tile School could not break through rank eighty.
But the third flaw was unforgivable.
Ye Xintang herself was a living example. To ensure her daughter, Ye Leng Leng, awakened the Nine-Heart Sea Begonia, her father—the previous family head and an eighty-sixth-rank healing Spirit Douluo—chose to end his life, relinquishing his place.
This memory had become a thorn embedded deep in Ye Xintang's heart.
At first, she could not understand. Later, as her healing strength grew and her companions rose and fell in battle, she gradually comprehended his resolve. Yet the more she understood, the deeper her resentment toward the Spirit's flaw became.
She once believed she would carry that resentment until her grandchild was born—and then follow the same path.
Until she saw this shop.
The Xiusui Pill. The Soul Doubling Pill. Miracles capable of driving entire continents mad.
Hope ignited anew.
If gods existed, perhaps flaws deemed unsolvable by mortals were trivial in their eyes.
She searched the event list obsessively—yet found nothing.
When she tried to approach Li Rong, she was blocked by crowds. Today, only forces backed by Spirit Douluo-level powerhouses were even allowed inside. Courtesy had no place here.
Impatient, she circled the shop until she found a gap and squeezed forward, nearly colliding with Li Rong.
"Boss Li," she asked urgently, "what kind of pill is required to solve the flaw limiting the Nine-Heart Sea Begonia to only two awakenings? What is the price?"
With the mechanized mind stabilizing him, Li Rong replied without hesitation:
"There is no pill that can solve this flaw."
Ye Xintang's heart sank, yet she pressed on. "Even innate malignant mutations of top-tier Spirits can be resolved. Why not this?"
"This question exceeds standard product explanations," Li Rong said evenly. "It falls under special services. The answer costs one thousand sacrificial coins."
The surrounding crowd stirred.
Paying to ask questions?
Liu Erlong's eyes lit up instantly. "Then do you know why the Blue Lightning Tyrant Dragon mutated into Luo San Pao?"
Li Rong ignored her and stepped behind the counter.
"Those wishing to purchase, line up. No cutting."
Ye Xintang moved first, forcing Liu Erlong to retreat to second place. The others stayed, unwilling to leave—this alone was worth witnessing.
Ye Xintang exchanged a second-grade medicinal herb for coins, then immediately spent them.
"Why can the Nine-Heart Sea Begonia only exist as two?"
"This is a World Rule carved by the gods."
The hall froze.
"The Nine-Heart Sea Begonia possesses terrifying potential," Li Rong continued. "It is not merely a top-tier healing Spirit. With sufficient mastery, it becomes a top-tier attack Spirit as well.
"You can heal any body part. Advance further, and you can inject vitality into an enemy. Strengthen it again, and that vitality can be forcibly absorbed—overloading specific organs."
Ye Xintang summoned her Spirit instinctively, still confused.
"Explain."
"For example," Li Rong said calmly, "if I amplify the vitality of your heart alone, forcing it to beat far beyond its limit, blood vessels will rupture. Death follows."
Silence descended.
"In truth," Li Rong concluded, "the Nine-Heart Sea Begonia carries the potential for godhood. It represents both ultimate life and ultimate death.
"Life and death are one. When life reaches its extreme—it becomes death."
