Chapter 13 - Chapter 13 -- Holy Dragon of Light

Ye Xintang listened with her heart surging, yet she did not forget the cruel implication hidden within the phrase become a god.

"So… there can still only be two Nine-Heart Sea Begonias in the world," she asked slowly, her voice tightening, "and one must die for the other to awaken?"

"Yes," Li Rong replied simply.

The surrounding crowd was still immersed in shock and envy at the Spirit's godhood potential, their gazes burning with desire. Ye Xintang, however, felt only a bone-deep chill spread through her chest.

"Only if I die," she murmured, her lips turning pale, "can Leng Leng's child awaken the Nine-Heart Sea Begonia…"

Li Rong glanced at her, momentarily suspecting that this woman relied more on muscle than thought.

"The divine rule states that at most two Spirit Masters possessing the Nine-Heart Sea Begonia may exist in the world," he said evenly. "It does not require sacrifice. It is absolute, inflexible, and unchangeable—but it can be bypassed."

Bypassed?

The word alone stunned everyone present.

"All you need to do," Li Rong continued, "is ensure that you no longer meet the conditions of the rule."

Seeing the blank expressions around him, he explained further.

"If your descendant is meant to awaken the Nine-Heart Sea Begonia but is blocked by the divine rule and forced into mutating into an ordinary Sea Begonia, then simply act before that awakening."

"Before?" Ye Xintang's breath caught.

"Consume a Spirit evolution pill—such as a Xiusui Pill—prior to their awakening," Li Rong said. "The degree of evolution does not matter. What matters is that after the evolution, your Spirit is no longer recognized by the rule as a Nine-Heart Sea Begonia."

"As long as the rule determines that you are no longer one of the two," he concluded, "your descendant can awaken normally."

Silence fell.

No one had ever considered such a method.

It sounded outrageous—yet terrifyingly logical.

Ye Xintang froze for a breath, then her eyes slowly brightened. The weight that had pressed upon her family for generations seemed to crack, light pouring through the fissure. Without hesitation, she stepped back and bowed deeply to Li Rong, her movements solemn and sincere.

She then withdrew, no longer needing to occupy the counter.

Li Rong watched her retreat, puzzled even with a mechanized mind active.

Why are you so happy?

As if you can afford a Xiusui Pill…

Fortunately, this was no longer his concern.

"Boss," Liu Erlong said sharply, unable to restrain herself any longer, "the Blue Lightning Tyrant Dragon Spirit mutated into Luo San Pao. Do you know why?"

She had waited long enough.

After paying the sacrificial coins, she asked directly.

"It wasn't a congenital malignant mutation," Li Rong replied. "It was a benign mutation."

"What?" Yu Heng blurted out in disbelief.

Liu Erlong, however, covered her mouth as tears streamed down her face.

"I knew it… I knew it…" she whispered hoarsely. "Xiaogang isn't useless. He isn't…"

The crowd stirred uneasily.

Yu Xiaogang's awakening had once been a sensational scandal. The son of Yu Yuanzhen, hero of his generation, awakening a pig-like Spirit? Rumors had spread like wildfire. Some even whispered shamelessly that the child wasn't his.

Li Rong's voice cut through the murmurs.

"Though the Blue Lightning Tyrant Dragon is lightning-attributed, its ancestral origin is the Bright Holy Dragon, a Spirit of light."

The crowd leaned in.

"Over countless generations, the light attribute weakened while the lightning attribute grew dominant, stabilizing into the inherited Blue Lightning Tyrant Dragon Spirit seen today. However, the light attribute within the Spirit's essence never disappeared."

"Luo San Pao awakened because the suppressed light attribute surged and overpowered the lightning attribute once more."

"But," Li Rong continued calmly, "that light was too weak."

"Though it overwhelmed lightning, it lacked the power to reshape the Spirit's core body. That is why the form appeared pig-like, and why the innate spirit power measured only half a level—an internal conflict between attributes paired with an insufficient Spirit foundation."

"How can it be fixed?" Liu Erlong asked immediately, her voice trembling.

"This is not a defect," Li Rong replied. "It is a lack of origin."

"What Luo San Pao requires are pills that strengthen the light attribute and the true dragon origin. One suppresses lightning and awakens the Bright Holy Dragon bloodline. The other reshapes the Spirit body and restores the dragon form."

Liu Erlong swallowed. "Do you… have them?"

"The Bright Holy Dragon is a divine Spirit," Li Rong said. "Complete revival requires two Grade 6 Martial Soul Heaven Mending Pills—one light-attributed, one true-dragon-attributed."

"Each is worth 1.5 million sacrificial coins. Pre-ordering increases the price by fifty percent."

"Total: 4.5 million."

Silence.

Absolute silence.

Four and a half million.

That was equivalent to nine hundred ordinary ten-thousand-year Spirit Bones.

Liu Erlong's hope was instantly extinguished. Even if she emptied the Blue Lightning Tyrant Dragon Clan's treasury by force, she would be beheaded by the elders and used as an apology offering.

Yu Heng stood frozen, his mind blank.

At that moment, someone in the crowd spoke hesitantly, "Boss Li… if Luo San Pao needs two pills because of weak light and body, then what about a normal Blue Lightning Tyrant Dragon?"

"One thousand sacrificial coins."

The speaker shut up immediately.

All gazes turned toward Yu Heng.

If that question wasn't answered, how could anyone sleep tonight?

Yu Heng whispered hoarsely, "Aunt…"

Liu Erlong clenched her teeth and paid.

"If the dragon body is already strong enough," Li Rong said, "only one light-attributed Martial Soul Heaven Mending Pill is required."

A scoff echoed through the crowd.

Liu Erlong's glare could have killed.

Gradually, understanding dawned on many faces.

Yu Xiaogang wasn't useless because he lacked potential—

He was useless because realizing that potential was unbearably expensive.

Which meant…

Instead of forcing cultivation, wouldn't it be wiser to let bloodlines accumulate naturally?

A bold onlooker voiced the thought aloud, earning gasps—and dozens of stares aimed at Liu Erlong.

Her killing intent surged.

Yu Heng hurriedly intervened, sweat pouring down his back.

"Aunt… this matter concerns the Sect's future. We should report back immediately."

Only then did the crowd finally disperse.
