Chapter 16 - Chapter 15 Rhaegar's Dragon Dream

As the night deepened, the lively sounds of the banquet gradually subsided, and everyone dispersed.

The main reason was that the noble ladies-in-waiting took care of King Jaeheris II's health, as he was not a man of great energy.

If it were a vibrant and energetic king like Aegon, the banquets in King's Landing would never end. The moveable feast would continue. What the ruler desires, the subjects will follow suit. If the king indulges in beauty and wine, the nobles will do the same.

Rega fell into a deep sleep amidst his mother's murmurs.

Despite the difficult circumstances of this marriage, Princess Leila continues to choose to play her role well.

Although Rega's vitality far exceeded that of children of the same age, he was still just a child and it was time for him to fall asleep.

Réga was having a dream. The dream was so real, so awe-inspiring.

He dreamt of a vast, dark wilderness. He stood alone atop a towering hill, surrounded by thin air and thick fog.

Not far from him, there was a silver dragon egg.

Dragon eggs resemble the most magnificent jewels in the world, displaying different silver spots depending on the angle of view. In the darkness, they are silver stars illuminating the world.

Rega walked over and stroked the silver dragon egg. The egg looked like exquisite ceramics, enamel, or blown glass, but it was much heavier than any of those, weighing as much as a solid stone. The eggshell was covered with tiny scales, and Rega quietly played with it, the egg seemingly shimmering with a silvery light.

In the obsidian-like eternal night, the silver dragon egg slowly hatched.

From within the black mist, a silver dragon burst forth from its shell.

With just a gust of wind, the silver dragon grew up in the wind.

At first, they were like bats, then kittens, calves, until they could swallow a town, and even an elephant.

The silver dragon's body danced on the horizon, magnificent and breathtaking.

The silver dragon's lava-like eyes stared at Rega. Its scales shimmered, outshining all other lights.

The silver dragon spread its wings and roared, its breath filled with the scorching heat of sulfur and magma.

Dragonfire roared in, engulfing Rega. The flames devoured him, cleansed him, and tempered him. He felt his entire body being burned by the flames, his blood evaporating, yet the flames caused him no pain, only increased his vitality.

Rega felt his body was as strong and powerful as steel.

Who will remain as serene as clouds and smoke, yet will surely shake the world?

Rega awoke from his dream, which had depicted the resurrection of dragons.

The silver dragon was so lifelike that he believed he and the silver dragon were born of blood and fire.

The mountain range soared into the clouds, but he didn't know where it was. Besides, it was a mountain range from a dream, and he only vaguely remembered its general shape.

Silver Dragon! Hill!

Rega thought to himself, "This dream is so awe-inspiring. No wonder every generation of dragon kings longs to hatch their own dragon."

Achievement: Dragon Dreamer (True Dragon Bloodline, Prophecy of a Dream. Congratulations, young true dragon, you have also opened the door to the Dragon Dream. The Dragon Dream accompanies each generation of Dragon Kings; it is both a challenge and a treasure.)

Dragon Dream?

Rhaegar Targaryen was startled; the Dragon Dream had arrived.

Dragon dreams specifically refer to prophetic dreams possessed by those with true dragon blood. These dreams are often related to dragons, but not all are. The most famous example is that of a dragon ancestor, the Virgin Mary, who dreamt of the end of ancient Valyria, allowing the Targaryen family, the dragon kings, to escape the cataclysm and become the last dragon kings.

The Dragon Dream is associated with the bloodline of the Dragon King and has been passed down from generation to generation.

For House Targaryen, the dream of dragons was no ordinary one; their connection with dragons had fueled the dragon dream for generations.

Maester Aemon once said that his brothers were driven mad by dragon dreams. Some of these dragon dreams led to their deaths. Aegon V, Brightflame Aerion.

King Aegon V dreamt that one day the dragons would return, and his obsession led him to set fire to the Summerhall. His elder brother, the drunkard Daeron, had the same dream, and King Aerys also read the same prophecy.

Everyone interprets the dream of dragons differently. And these erroneous interpretations hasten the demise of the true dragon bloodline. Everyone believes they can awaken the dragon, everyone believes themselves to be a true dragon. Their arrogance and superstition ultimately hasten the demise of the dragon kings.

Moreover, dreams within dreams are sometimes not about real dragons, but rather refer to the bloodline of the Targaryens.

For example, Prince Darren once dreamed that a huge red dragon fell on Tall Duncan, but Duncan was still alive while the dragon died. Later, it was learned that this was during a trial by combat, when Prince Baylor died to save Tall Duncan's life, to protect the dignity of a true knight.

For example, Damon Blackfire II, disguised as "Fiddler John," told Duncan that he recognized him on the road because Duncan had appeared in his dream.

In Damon II's dream, Duncan was dressed in pure white Kingsguard armor. Damon said his dreams always came true; he had dreamt of the deaths of his two brothers, and of a dragon hatching from an egg in a pale castle. However, this was not a dragon egg hatching into a real dragon, but rather Aegon V, anonymously known as Aegon, revealing his true form in Whitewall.

"Does this silver dragon represent that I will meet a real dragon, or that I will meet a silver Targaryen? Or perhaps, the silver dragon is referring to myself?" Rhaegar wondered. The Targaryen family had no shortage of dragon eggs, only the key to awaken a true dragon.

Moreover, could that mountain range be the Bright Moon Mountain Range? Rega also had many predictions about Dragon Dream.

Or perhaps the dragon eggs in King's Landing, like the dragons themselves, have lost their magic, and we need to find dragon eggs elsewhere?

It's important to know that the Dragon Kings value their dragon eggs highly, but some are always lost. For example, a woman once stole three dragon eggs and sold them to Sea King Braavos in exchange for a ship to fulfill her ambition of sailing the world.

The greater loss was the Blood Dragon Frenzy, which also increased the difficulty of preserving the dragon eggs in the brutal war.

Alternatively, the dragon and the red comet may be closely linked. Without the arrival of the red comet, the dragon would not have been revived.

Rhaegar thought to himself, "I must unlock the key to the dragon."

He had made up his mind to obtain the crucial clues about the dragon. Dragon eggs, biographies about dragons, and those clues about the dragon.

The last dragon in the world has long been extinct.

The rampage of the Blood Dragon Dance resulted in the near extinction of all dragons and dragons themselves; everyone said that the last dragon had died.

But there are always exceptions.

In that story, the shepherdess Castor and the tamed wild dragon sheep thief did not participate in much of the battle.

Given the age of the sheep thief, it's hard to say whether the dragon is alive or dead.

Legend has it that they fled to the Mingyue Mountains and were associated with the mysterious wild tribe of Zhuo Ren.
