A blinding light covered Makoto's vision. After a while, the light began to dim and fade away. When Makoto looked around, he found himself already standing inside a magnificent hall. When he looked forward, he saw a goddess from another world.
"Ooh, you've finally arrived? Grandfather Tsukuyomi's power is beginning to weaken," the goddess said. Those were the first words Makoto heard from her.
"In this world, the demon race and spirits have begun to run rampant. My human race is in great danger, so I summoned you to help them."
The goddess paused and looked at Makoto's reflection in the water. "Huh?!"
She suddenly burst into loud laughter. "Are you really the child of those two?" the goddess said while laughing. "How ugly." She sat down on a sofa. "There isn't a single good trait about you," she said in a condescending tone. "Where did this ugly duckling come from?"
"That's why this contract is canceled. Can you disappear from my sight as quickly as possible? Your existence is disgusting and annoying."
Although Makoto already knew the goddess's personality from anime, hearing it directly still made his emotions boil. "Wasn't it you who brought me here?" Makoto said while holding back his anger.
"My goodness! Even your voice is ugly!" the goddess shouted in a shrill tone as she released a dazzling light toward Makoto. Makoto could only shield his face with his hands from the blinding radiance.
"I have already prepared a hero worthy of my world, so go and take that disgusting self of yours to the ends of the world! I truly don't want to give you any power, but I will compromise. I will at least allow you to speak, read, and write languages other than that of humans."
"How troublesome," the goddess muttered as she released a beam of light from her index finger, striking Makoto in the face and sending him sprawling.
"Live in some filthy place with goblins and low-class orcs. Whatever happens, do not scatter your vile seed among my human race," the goddess said in a slightly harsher tone.
As Makoto's body was enveloped in light, the goddess declared, "Now then, be gone!" A hole appeared beneath Makoto's feet, and he fell straight down.
"If he dies from being dropped, that would be fine. If he were to come back, I wouldn't be able to stand it," were the last words Makoto heard as he fell.
"Waaaaaah!" Makoto screamed as he experienced falling from the sky for the first time in his life.
Suddenly, Makoto stopped falling, and the god Tsukuyomi appeared before him. Makoto felt immense gratitude toward Tsukuyomi. Even though he knew he was falling from the sky, experiencing it firsthand was still terrifying.
"I never imagined the goddess would go so far as to act so cruelly. Still, Makoto should be fine from this height," Tsukuyomi said calmly.
"Makoto's previous world was harsh and barren, untouched by our blessings as gods. Both magical power and physical strength were heavy burdens there. In a world free from those burdens, you will become a superhuman," Tsukuyomi explained, describing the difference between the worlds.
"But if you die, then you die—so be careful," Tsukuyomi added seriously.
Suddenly, Tsukuyomi's body began to blur.
"Tsukuyomi-sama, your body?" Makoto asked.
"This communication consumes a great deal of my power. After this, I will sleep for several hundred years. Your role as a hero has already been revoked by the goddess herself, so you need not hold back."
After a brief pause, he continued in a loud, solemn voice, "Makoto Misumi, in the name of Tsukuyomi, I acknowledge your freedom in this new world."
"after your soul is reincarnated, I hope we can meet again," Tsukuyomi said, then vanished before Makoto's eyes.
Makoto began to fall once more, crashing into the ground and creating a crater several meters deep. He stood up and gazed at the morning sky, its light gently touching his body. Warm sunlight wrapped around him.
Makoto recalled the dream he had before his transmigration and the adventure that awaited him in this new world. His heart began to pound.
At the same time, within Makoto's consciousness, a mysterious sphere that had shown no change for an entire year finally began to move. Little by little, it started absorbing the magical energy in the air without Makoto's knowledge.
After surveying his surroundings and deciding where to go, Makoto fixed his gaze on a towering mountain that pierced the sky. He then took his first step in this other world—like a single drop of water falling onto the surface of a calm pond, creating a small ripple that would eventually spread across the entire surface that had long remained still.
