Chapter 285 - 285. Any Kind of Escape

It took only a second after he had found his release for his anger to extinguish like a candle and his eyes widened as he took in the situation, what he had done, and why he had done it.

He pushed himself away from her and she remained still on the bed, her arms trapped under her and doing her best to remain silent as she took inventory of her injuries, feeling them all as she closed her legs.

He hadn't cared if she had been aroused or not before he took her and as a result her body felt raw and she could smell blood, though if that was a result of her hymen being torn or as a result of his need, she didn't know right away, though she assumed it was both.

Sliding her arms out from under her, her head turned slightly to see him sitting on the edge of the bed, his elbows on his knees and his head in his hands and as he felt her movements, he began to speak, but she couldn't hear what he was whispering.

"Jaia are you here?" a voice called out and fear filled her, panic making her unable to decide what to do in that instant. "Oh good, Etani brought some of it down, did she say when she'd be back?" Kai said as he entered the basement.

"What happened to the door?" he asked, apparently seeing the damaged frame.

"I'm sorry…" Jaia whimpered, his fingers curling in his hair as light spilled in on them. "I'm sorry… I'm so sorry…"

Rolling over onto her side, she gripped the hem of her dress and pushed it down over her legs as Kai stood frozen in the doorway, taking in the scene for an eternity, his eyes flicking between them and inhaling the scents of the room.

"Oh no… you didn't…" Kai whispered, stepping into the room and she flushed as she stood and saw a pool of blood and what she could only assume was semen on the sheets.

"I'm sorry… Kai I'm sorry," Jaia said, not looking up from his spot at the edge of the bed. "I don't know what came over me…"

Kai crossed the room in two steps and gripped his brother by the wrists, shaking him hard to make him look up. "Jaia snap out of it!" he cried, the scent of his fear only adding to the disgusting aroma of the room.

"I don't know why I did it… I never meant to…" Jaia whimpered, pleading for Kai to understand.

She felt eyes on her as she pressed her dress down over her legs. Her hair formed a curtain around her bowed head, her mind feeling oddly blank as she tried to process what she needed to do.

The thought of escape reached her muffled thoughts, and she headed for the door, shame filling her as she passed the two men.

Kai was torn, unsure who needed him more and finally he hissed "Stay here, Jaia. Don't move."

Heading for the stairs out of the basement, she flinched as Kai's fingers found her wrist and he looked down at see the dark bruises.

"Etani, look at me," he said gently, moving his light grip up from her wrist to avoid damaging her further.

She couldn't look up at him, and he reached out with his free hand and brushed her hair away from her face.

His breath sucked in as he saw her tear-streaked face and then down to the blood at her throat where Jaia had left a boldly visible mark on her.

He stared at her, his face utterly devoid of colour as he tried to figure out what to do or say to her.

"Don't go anywhere, okay? Just stay here," he said, hearing movement from the bedroom and panic filled him. "Please, just stay here," he said. "I'll be right back, but I'll take care of you, just stay here."

"Okay," she said in an empty voice, not caring much where she was as long as it wasn't under Jaia again.

"You can't tell anyone, okay? You can't say a word about this to anyone."

"Okay" she repeated.

He stared at her for one agonised moment before he released her and ran back into the bedroom.

He shouted something, but she wasn't listening, instead looking around the room slowly at the lack of feminine touches that had been there.

Her eyes landed on the door to the sub-basement, and she started moving before she had decided to go there, her steps silent as she headed down.

Hunter stood as she appeared and his sharp eyes flicked over her form quickly, reading her posture though the glass made it hard to see out properly.

"What happened to you?" Hunter asked, prowling back and forth in front of the glass as he tried to see her.

"Nothing," she said in her flat voice.

He froze, picking up on the change in her voice. "Come closer," he demanded.

She moved obediently, her eyes on his chest.

His eyes narrowed at her and the muzzle touched the glass as he tried to see her clearly.

"Why did you come down here?" he asked finally.

"I don't know. An escape maybe," she whispered, her hand lifting to touch the glass.

His eyes landed on her hand, studying the delicate fingers.

"What kind of escape?" he asked, tearing his eyes away from her hand and back up to her face.

"Any kind, one that means I'm not here."

"I can give you that if you wish," he said slowly, wary of her.

"What could you do?" she asked, unsure of what a hybrid could offer her.

"Blood, you will sleep for a few days," he said.

Her nails scraped down the glass as her fingers clenched. He stared at the marks her nails left, fascinated by her nails.

"I would like that," she whispered.

"What happened to you?" he asked again.

"It doesn't matter. Will you help me?"

"Yes, in exchange for a taste of you."

"A taste?" her skin crawled at that, thinking of Jaia and his taste of her.

"I won't hurt you; I want your blood."

"My blood is addictive to vampires," she said softly, her forehead resting against the glass.

He inched closer until the muzzle was against the glass, greedily taking in what he could see of her features.

"I don't care. That's what I ask for in exchange. My blood for yours."

She swallowed and turned her head to look at the door, his head following hers.

"You won't touch me otherwise?" she asked.

"I will not touch you," he said, sounding angry, though she didn't know why.

"In exchange for your blood, you will get mine and you will be free until they capture you again," she said.

He laughed. "You have a deal, woman," he growled.

Nodding once, she stepped away from the glass and moved to the door, releasing the lock, and pressing down on the handle.

The scent of him hit her and she inhaled slowly, clearly able to read the mixture that he was.

Stepping into the room, he moved towards her and turned, shivering as her icy fingers found his skin as she undid the gold chain that contained him.

Turning to face her, he stared down at her with wide eyes, his pupils shrinking to near pinpricks as her face lifted and she looked at the muzzle, reaching around behind his head and releasing the clasp.

"My Gods you are beautiful," he breathed.

She wondered at the expletive, being one she had never heard used before.

Releasing the second clasp at the back of his neck, she pulled the muzzle away from his face and she studied him.

He was rugged and had a dangerous, wild kind of handsomeness to him. He was not beautiful like the Gods, but rather he was nothing short of sexy, even with three large scars running from the outer corner of his left eye and trailing down to his jaw.

Frowning slightly at the scent of her, he leant forward and sniffed at her warily.

"Which one?" he growled, his body beginning to tremble in fury.

She didn't know what it was he could smell on her, nor did it matter, and she gave a slight shrug as she dropped the muzzle onto the ground.

"It doesn't matter, don't kill them. Humans only."

His eyes raked down her form, pausing at her lips, her throat, her wrists and then her hips before going back up to her face.

"The cold one," he said, but she didn't reply to his statement.

"You are free to leave."

He nodded, and he reached for her with deliberate slowness as not to frighten her. Even so, she tensed when he touched her, but he was gentle as he drew her close and nuzzled her head aside, taking the clean side of her neck rather than the one already marred.

"You would risk becoming addicted?" she asked.

"Wouldn't you if our roles were reversed?"

She simply nodded and gasped as his teeth sank into her throat, his arms tight around her middle until he was crushing her against him and the strange scent of him filled her senses.

He groaned as her blood filled his mouth, his body tensing as though he had been turned to stone and then his teeth dug deeper, cutting into her as far as they would allow as he began to feed.

He drank from her until her body went limp in his arms and he finally drew back from her, his fingers light as though frightened to break her as he touched her cheek. She felt his fingers trembling, tracing along the line of her cheekbone and down over her jaw. His thumb found her bruised lower lip, and he sighed, his warm breath brushing over her skin and rustling her hair.

"So incredibly beautiful…" he whispered.

She could smell his blood, the man pressing his wrist against her lips and rolling it gently to past them, smearing his blood against her skin.

The first drop of his blood rolled down the inside of her lip and down over the back of her teeth to hit her tongue like a lightning bolt to her brain, her body singing with a pulse of energy.

Clenching his fist, a steady trickle of blood fell onto her tongue, and she swallowed reflexively.

The flood of energy changed, and it filled her with a lethargy that she welcomed with open arms, desperate for her pain to stop.

"Etani?" Kai's voice called out and Hunter chuckled darkly, violence clear in the sound as he withdrew his wrist from her.

Bowing his head over her, he placed a light brush of a kiss against her forehead.

"Etani where are you?" Kai called out and swore. "I think she left," he snarled.

"Check downstairs," that other voice that had her trembling inside called.

"Don't worry, angel, I won't kill your vampires," he whispered in her ear. "But I will make them wish I had."

She couldn't move, but she was still aware enough to hear his words and she could only assume that he had intentionally done it so that she would hear what happened.

Boots pounded on the stairs and Kai leapt the last few steps onto the stone and he snarled as he approached the cell.

"What did you do to her?" Kai growled.

"I think you should be more concerned over what has already been done to her before she came down here," Hunter growled.

"You don't know what you're talking about."

"I can smell you both all over her. Rage, seed, her fear, blood. That smells like rape to me. I never took you for a rapist, little vampire. Did you take turns with her, or did you have her together?" Hunter said in a low, lethal voice as he held her to him.

"I would never touch her..."

"Yet you are down here instead of ripping your brother into shreds?"

"He's my brother."

"He's a rapist. Do you know what my clan does to those who stoop so low as to force himself on a woman? We kill him."

Hunter laid her down on the bed and placed his jacket over her, his fingers light on her hair as he moved back from her. "You're no better if you defend him. If he were my brother, I would kill him myself rather than bear the shame of knowing my blood would do that."

"I won't let you kill him."

"No little vampire, she told me I wasn't allowed to kill him."

He opened the door and stepped out, Kai's voice cracking as he swore.

"I'm just here to give her a break from the abuse you and your brother have put her through," the hybrid said, a feral grin in his voice and the bliss of unconsciousness found her.
