Chapter 83: On this planet, nothing can stand against the two of us!
The razor-sharp blade carved a biting arc through the air and slashed straight at Tornado.
Yet the next second the blade froze, eerie and motionless, less than half a meter from her; no matter how Melzargard strained, it could not advance another fraction.
What?!
Melzargard was stunned. Veins bulged across every muscle as he poured in every ounce of strength, yet he still could not break through the psychic barrier.
Tornado finally noticed the towering humanoid behind her and frowned, her green curls fluttering in the wind.
"Huh? Some small-fry thinks he can sneak-attack Me?"
A sudden sense of danger washed over Melzargard. Before he could retreat, a pale green light enveloped him.
An oceanic tide of Psychic Power surged forward. At a single thought from Tornado, Melzargard's body twisted into a grotesque shape.
Under that violent telekinetic tearing, Melzargard was crumpled into a brown ball of flesh, utterly helpless.
Seizing that brief moment while she was busy, the Spaceship erupted again with dazzling violet light, and countless shells filled the sky.
"Tch, what a pain."
Tornado clicked her tongue in annoyance, casually flung the meat-ball Melzargard toward an empty lot, and turned her power once more against the incoming barrage.
With the Hero Association fully prepared, every resident of City A was quickly evacuated; the entire city had become a battlefield of heroes versus aliens.
The brown ball smashed through a building and slammed into the ground, leaving a sizable crater.
The next instant the ball began to writhe, and Melzargard resumed his original form—but the red pupils in his five pairs of eyes no longer held their former mockery.
"That human larva is strong..."
"Right—we had no power to resist."
"Had she known our weakness, we'd already be dead."
"We can't fight alone anymore. This planet has plenty of powerhouses. Contact Geryuganshoop at once!"
Soon Melzargard's brain-wave signal reached the Spaceship again.
In the control room a huge blue octopus floated in mid-air, calmly operating the intricate instruments.
[Ding-ding!]
A chime sounded from the blue screen. When Geryuganshoop read the message he was startled.
"Melzargard is struggling and says there are foes on this planet even he can't defeat?! We'll have to send more troops down."
In every previous campaign Groribas had always made the decisions, while their leader Boros simply waited for the results.
"Groribas! Melzargard is pinned by a troublesome enemy. Go down immediately and back him up—take ten thousand troops in case this turns into a war of attrition."
Inside the ship a three-metre-tall humanoid, its arms ending in gaping maws and its skin green, let out a shrill laugh.
Though eyeless, Groribas seemed to stare through the entire Spaceship at the battered Melzargard below.
"That guy can't be killed for a while anyway. I'm on my way—time for these pitiful natives to taste my new ultimate move!"
With that, Groribas vaulted; the hull opened automatically, and he shot toward the surface like a falling meteor.
Behind him thousands of aliens, weapons in hand, began their own descent... Meanwhile the Hero Association's S-Class Heroes had finished assembling.
Curiously, watchdog heroes like Pig God and Drive Knight were nowhere to be seen.
Sensing the newcomers, the floating Tornado snorted and sent her voice into their ears with Psychic Power.
"See those shooting-star things up there? The enemy's invading—go deal with it. I have to handle the shells."
Atomic Samurai, a toothpick in his mouth, gazed at the meteor shower and clicked his tongue in wonder.
"Never thought I'd live to see Earth invaded by aliens. Some kind of new movie?"
Metal Bat glared at the descending invaders, irritably swinging his bat so it howled through the air.
"Aliens or monsters, I don't care—I'm in a lousy mood and I just want to smash their heads in!"
Tanktop Master flexed, squeezing his bulging muscles with confidence.
"My muscles will solve every problem!"
He thrust his fingers into the side of a nearby building.
Haah!
With a roar he ripped the entire structure out and hurled it like a javelin at the falling stars.
The descending aliens turned to see a multi-storey building bearing down on them and panicked.
What is that—some native counter-weapon?
Lord Groribas—save us!
"Hah, making a fuss over nothing."
Groribas scoffed, then opened one of his great mouths and spewed green acid.
The moment the acid touched the building white smoke rose, and the whole structure melted into dripping slag mid-air.
Victorious in the first clash, Groribas laughed louder, his shrill cackle echoing across the sky.
"Kekekekekeke! Melzargard, where are you? I'm here to back you up!"
Hearing that familiar laugh, Melzargard's five heads lifted together, all smiling in certain triumph.
"So you came. Good—now nothing on this planet can stop the two of us!"
