Chapter 24 - Chapter 24: Breaking Past Your Limits

Hero Association, Control Room.

"The Giant's vital signs are completely gone. Moments before death, an ultra-high energy spike was detected—far surpassing every Dragon-level Disaster ever recorded!"

Staff members stared in disbelief at the sun-like life-flare snuffed out in an instant, their trembling hands barely able to keep the consoles steady.

"The Dragon-level Disaster Giant has been eliminated—Mr. KING acted! He killed it with a single move! Truly worthy of KING, The Strongest Man on the Surface of the Earth!"

Sitch felt the boulder in his heart finally roll away; he exhaled, eyes fixed on the monitor.

He had always believed in KING's might, yet only now, watching through the satellite feed, did this pragmatic Hero Association executive grasp what real power meant.

Moments earlier, he hadn't understood why KING cancelled the disaster broadcast—this was a calamity that could have wiped several cities off the map.

Now he understood.

KING had never cared about such small fry; to him, a monster like the Giant was disposable.

Sitch clenched his fists. With a being this mighty guarding the Hero Association, how could it not prosper?

This is KING—humanity's greatest hope!

…City B.

To King's senses, his right leg now looked intact, yet inside, the bones had shattered into countless splinters.

It wasn't that his target had been too hard—the recoil had snapped his bones.

Rather, the force condensed within Night Guy itself was overwhelming—and King had further opened the Gate of Shock, pushing that power even higher.

His flesh simply couldn't bear that much strength in one instant, so it collapsed.

To King, this was no big deal.

In a heartbeat, emerald light enveloped his whole right leg; vibrant life-force blossomed inside him, endless blood-qi feeding the healing.

Shattered bones re-aligned; wounded flesh sprouted new buds at lightning speed. Within seconds, the pulverized leg was whole again.

He checked: healing a broken leg had cost less than 0.1% of his stamina.

And the Death Gate physique already boasted solid regeneration—if you converted it into numbers, it recovered about 0.5% stamina per second.

Which meant that, unless he was killed in a single strike, King was practically immortal.

Feeling Ultra-Regeneration's might first-hand, King couldn't help grinning.

So it really can be used without limit!

On another rooftop, Genos stood dumbstruck as if struck by lightning.

From his vantage, the sky-piercing Giant was gone; only two muscular legs still stood amid the shattered cityscape.

His worldview shook to the core, and he finally understood what The Strongest Man on the Surface of the Earth truly meant.

Just then, the Giant's severed head—blasted skyward by Night Guy—finally fell back, trailing sparks.

The Giant had stood thousands of meters tall; its head alone was hundreds of meters across.

Coming down like this was no different from a colossal meteor striking the ground.

Genos narrowed his eyes, a bad premonition rising.

If that head hit the ground, its kinetic energy would devastate another district. He instinctively looked toward mid-air King—who was already watching him, gaze faintly approving.

At that instant, Genos understood.

I get it, KING-Sensei! I won't let you down!!

Every thruster roared to life; blazing flames hurled his mechanical frame forward like a comet.

He positioned himself beneath the falling head and spread his arms.

First priority: cancel the head's massive kinetic energy—then keep it from crashing into the city!

With that thought, Genos aligned the palm-cannons side by side; his arms extended and reconfigured, forming a combined muzzle aimed skyward.

His nearly-drained core, stirred by that unbending will, somehow squeezed out more energy.

The chest core blazed azure; every joint creaked under the strain.

Unleashing two High-power incineration cannons in a row was an enormous challenge for him.

For his current cyborg body, firing two consecutive overload shots risked outright collapse.

His blond hair whipped in the cold wind as destructive energy pooled in the aligned barrels; the almost-empty core kept feeding greater power.

Flames burned in Genos's mechanical eyes—flames that merged with the memory of his hometown burning under the rampaging cyborg years ago.

Though the flames looked alike, their essence was utterly different.

Back then, what burned inside and out was the fire of revenge.

Now, what burned was the fire of resolve to protect others!

Genos clenched his teeth, resolve flashing in his gaze.

Once, he had been too weak and could only watch the rampaging cyborg destroy everything he cherished.

Now, he was still too weak—even the Giant's hide had been beyond him, forcing his teacher to step in.

Then right here, break past your limits!!

"High-power incineration cannon!!!"

Fierce energy erupted from the barrel; a sky-piercing crimson beam slammed into the plummeting head, cancelling its momentum.

Impact against momentum—the head's descent slowed.

At last, with its kinetic energy nearly spent, the blazing cannon propped the meteor-like skull like a pillar of light.

And then—began pushing it back upward!
