Chapter 36 - Chapter 36 - The eye's haven

Finally the day came for us to open the eye clinic. Puma and her entire family came to support us while my patients from the forest brought some companions needing our help.

It is going to be a long day. It is already long, considering their day is longer than earth.

My body finally adapted to long mornings and evenings but not without help. Both Lion and Puma gave me some sort of potion to help increase my stamina and adjust to the changes.

Good thing with magic, I can treat the patients faster than the way I treated patients on earth. The eye equipments are faster, more accurate and saves us plenty of time.

Puoma is delighted with her work and she made a lot of quite helpful medications that instantly healed some of the not so serious eye problems. Some patients took me a while since I'm not yet well versed in their anatomy. Unlike humans who have the same anatomy, creatures in this world have different anatomy and there are lots of creatures I'm not familiar with. Good thing Nyma is here as she is quite helpful in that part. At least I can concentrate more on finding solutions and treatment.

Ghost and Sly, who became well behaved lately, are quite helpful but we soon began to feel exhausted at the unending line of patients.

While I was checking a patient, I saw in the corner of my eye some sort of transparent being, moving slowly towards the back, near the portal for the second floor. I glanced at Nyma and saw her quite busy so I decided to follow that being. I gave a quick excuse to the patient, who just grunted, and looked for the being. The being stood beside the portal and went through it.

I hurriedly went towards the portal and soon I arrived at the second floor of the building.

I yelled HEY but there was no answer. In fact I'm all alone.

I shrugged, thinking that I might be seeing things when it appeared in front of me.

I was so surprised that I couldn't say anything. I just stared at the being then it said something that made my hair at the back of my neck stand up.

The being said only one sentence in a cold voice before disappearing.

WE ARE COMING FOR YOU.

I just sat there like a dummy when I heard someone calling my name at the first floor.

CUSS WORD. What was that???????!!!!

....

The line seemed endless and even Nyma and Puoma, who seemed to have higher energy than me, looked exhausted.

After what seems to be eternity, the line is gone and we hurriedly closed the clinic.

Sly told me that this won't do or else we would become sick. He advised us to make a schedule and limit the number of patients. He assured me that he will try to find ords that will assist us with unimportant tasks. Ghost whined that we haven't started making condiments yet.

Sly thought for a moment and suggested that it would be better to train Nyma doing some of the easier examinations while ords can handle the receiving area.

Ah, like triaging. Good insight.

I agreed with him and Nyma looked at me with adoring eyes. Meanwhile, Puoma delightedly thanked me as she improved her medicine making.

We decided to let Nyma handle the easier cases as she already understands and knows a bit as I taught her while working. She is a quick learner and managed to even do some easier tasks without observation.

Ghost also said that the ords will schedule the complicated cases so that I don't need to come into the clinic every single day.

He whispered to me and reminded me that I am a human and that I have less stamina than them and that I should not push myself too much.

We value you, he added with a wink in his eye.

I feel a rush of emotion and thanked them all for supporting me.

They all looked surprised then smiled.

I am in such good spirits that I forgot the encounter I had earlier.

I would soon regret forgetting it.

....

Nyma and Puoma decided to stay in the clinic but promised me that they would go back to the castle once in a while since they too need to rest. Puoma asked me shyly if she could plant herbs and vegetation on the roof top that is needed for the medicines. Of course, she added, she would also plant some fruits for consumption.

I gave her my permission and she and Nyma happily went with Sly to buy much needed supplies and furniture. They earned a lot in their first day and they wanted to spend it.

Ghost and I sat on the steps of the building and looked at the other buildings. He remarked about the progress we all made.

He smiled and told me that it is me that caused a positive change with all of them. He laughed and told me that he never felt so happy before and that he began to enjoy life.

I was humbled by his statement.

I, who was considered vanilla back on earth.

I, who was always the plain one.

I, who was always the wallflower.

I, who was always alone.

I, who was always being shouted at.

I, who had a low self esteem.

I, who always isn't good enough.

I smiled with tears in my eyes and wordlessly hugged him.

He patted my back before hugging me back, telling me that I should be more confident and that everyone thought that I'm amazing and beautiful.

If you only knew how many creatures would have love to have you as their mate, he murmured quietly but enough for me to hear.

We both then stood up and closed the clinic and walked towards the castle.

He stopped and said, with an indescribable look on his face, that Lion is so lucky that he got someone amazing to be his future mate.

He then chuckled while looking at the sky for a while. After several minutes, he then carried me gently in his arms and jumped towards the castle.
