Chapter 8 - Chapter 8: Japanese schools are not like anime

° Japan, Kyoto °

In one of Japan's most famous towns for its culture and fascination with anime, just a few meters outside the town in a forest, a 15 year old girl with rabbit-like features was training; it was Rumi, who was ready for her new life.

One week after Rumi left Sokovia, she arrived in Russia where, surprise, they hated foreigners and hated mutants. It was no surprise that they wanted her dead. Every time she appeared in public, she received numerous insults and death threats. This didn't bother her, but the constant harassment from the police, who stopped her daily, made her leave Russia in a single day. After many problems and infiltrations on private planes, she arrived in Japan where, at least, there wasn't much hatred towards mutants.

The discrimination and hatred seemed to be concentrated in the major cities of Japan; in the smaller towns, they were barely known. This was both good and bad, since everyone believed she was the result of an illegal investigation, but everyone gave her the benefit of the doubt. In the following days, she decided to stay there for the next few years and quickly obtained her citizenship and identification. So, legally, she had always been Japanese, which wasn't so strange since she had Japanese features, even though she was still recognized as a foreigner.

She found a house in Kyoto, one of the cities where anime abounds. So, those who see her think she's cosplaying. Besides that, she checked all the data on Hydra and SHILD and discovered they have no jurisdiction in Japan. She didn't know that from the comics, but it seems that ever since Nagasaki and Hiroshima, Japan has hated any organization from the United States. That only made staying here more satisfying.

It seems that all of Asia hates Hydra because, according to the information she gathered from the data she stole from the base she was at, along with what she hacked from its mainframe, there are almost no Hydra bases in all of Asia, and none in Japan. It almost seems like a trap, but she decided to stay and try it out.

After finishing her training in the forest, she returned to the village. Today was her first day of school. It might be ironic considering that in her past life, Rumi wanted to stop going to school, but she wanted to do it to have the nice experience of not worrying about anything other than studying. Besides, she had always wanted to know if school in Japan was like in anime.

After arriving home, she had breakfast and changed into her tight-fitting uniform, which consisted of a white shirt with a navy blue skirt that revealed her thick thighs and a red bow. She also put on woolen stockings like the ones anime girls wear.

"First day, today will be the start of a new life, I can't wait to see what an anime school will be like," Rumi said excitedly as she put on her backpack and left for her school. Since arriving in the Marvel world, she had never been to school. At the orphanage, they didn't think it was worthwhile for a mutant to study, and it's logical that the Hydra base wouldn't let her go to school.

After walking for a few blocks, Rumi arrived at the school where a bunch of teenagers stared at her. Without getting distracted by them, she went into the school, took off her shoes and put on some bunny slippers, checked her schedule and headed to her classroom where she would have her class.

When she arrived, she knocked on the door, which her teacher opened. He was surprised to see Rumi, but quickly recovered; he had been informed that this year his classroom had a mutant.

The professor was a 60 year old man. He believed that mutants were a new species and not the demons they were said to be, but he had never seen one. It was good to know that mutants valued study and rules; at least this mutant left a good impression on him.

"For a moment I thought I was being pranked when I didn't see you in the classroom. You arrived just a minute before the start of class. I hope you arrive a little earlier, although technically you arrived early. Wait a while outside here, I'll tell your classmates about your presence," said the old teacher as he entered the classroom to inform the new student that they would have there.

"Students, in this school we teach respect and tolerance for all foreigners and strangers. I want you to treat the new student who will be entering today with respect. She is special; she belongs to the new race that has begun to emerge in recent decades. She is a mutant. I want you to show her the manners and respect that the Japanese are always proud of," the elderly teacher said seriously to the surprised students. They had hardly seen any foreigners in this town because anime is made here, and that doesn't interest foreigners. That's why they were surprised to have a new classmate who is not only a foreigner but also a mutant.

"You may enter," said the old teacher, as Rumi entered the classroom. All the students were surprised; they had never seen a mutant before, and this one was undoubtedly beautiful. She had bunny-like features. They, who had heard many rumors about mutants, how on earth were they surprised that she seemed so cute?

"Good morning everyone, my name is Rumi Usagiyama," Rumi said politely. She was a little uncomfortable with everyone's stares; she thought Japanese people would be a bit more shy.

"Do you have any questions for Usagiyama-san?" the teacher asked the students, already knowing that these young people were bored with village life and wanted to travel and see other places. The moment he asked, they all raised their hands, eager to learn more about the beautiful-looking mutant.

"Uhhhh, you," Rumi said hesitantly, pointing at a girl with her hand raised, hoping her question wasn't awkward.

"Is your hair dyed? Where did you get your tan? It looks natural. What shampoo do you use? Where did you get such realistic contact lenses? Where did you get surgery to get those breasts and that waist?" the envious student asked in a flurry of questions. She thought she was the most beautiful girl in town, and this foreigner looked better than her. Obviously, it all had to be fake.

"I don't spend my money on those things, I was born this way and I exercise to stay in shape," Rumi said firmly and annoyed, realizing what kind of person this girl is. Sometimes in some places she sees many envious girls who yell at her and bother her, saying that she is just a whore; those girls bother her a lot.

The girl just got angry and wanted to yell at her, but she held back when she realized that her 'nice girl' persona would be ruined if she yelled at her, so she restrained herself.

"You," Rumi simply pointed to a guy who looked normal this time; maybe he'd be better than the envious girl.

"Do you have a boyfriend, beautiful? I can show you how great the Japanese are," the teenager asked brazenly and boastfully. Rumi just looked at the boy with disgust.

"No thanks, I'm not interested in having a partner," Rumi said seriously and with a bit of disgust to the boy, who was offended and wanted to say something, but Rumi just cut him off by choosing someone else.

"You can ask me a question," Rumi said hopefully to the fat boy in the classroom who had a Dragon Ball backpack, hoping that he was a normal and reserved guy despite being an Otaku; she didn't mind becoming friends with that guy if he wasn't an idiot or envious.

"Your cosplay is very good, would you like to be part of the anime club?" the Otaku asked, with lust and desire, she with her improved vision could clearly see that his soldier set up camp in his pants.

Rumi just watched sadly as her dream of living an anime life faded away; she decided she'd had enough of these guys.

"These may just be rumors to you, but I'm a mutant. They're real, they exist. I was born this way, and I am one. So I'll ask you to have more respect for people. I see it was a lie that the Japanese were a tolerant and respectful people," Rumi said, clearly annoyed by how rude these guys were, while she twitched her ears furiously.

The students quickly realized they had upset the new student and wanted to apologize. Some were even surprised to see her twitching her ears, thinking she was a cosplayer, but the teacher reacted faster and decided to put an end to this spectacle.

"All students in their seats, we've already wasted a lot of time, your seat is in the corner, Usagiyama-san," said the teacher, annoyed by the bad impression the foreign students had left on the country.

Rumi just went to sit at her table at the back of the room, next to the window. She felt cheated; the Japanese were just like any other people from other countries.

After that, Rumi attended classes normally; Japanese schools don't teach anything special. It was more advanced than what was taught in her previous life in Mexico, but nothing special. Perhaps it's because of her photographic memory and her learning in Hydra.

Later in the afternoon, the bell rang for recess, and all the students surrounded Rumi's table, asking her questions and trying to become friends with her.

"Where do you come from, Usagiyama-san?"

"Are all mutants like you?"

"Do you like carrots? My grandfather has a farm; if you want, we can go after school."

"Do you know the X-Men?"

"Relax, I can't answer everything if you ask me at once," Rumi told the group. She was a little disappointed in the Japanese, but that wasn't an excuse to treat them like trash. Besides, only three guys bothered her, so maybe they were the only jerks.

"First, I'm from the United States. Not all mutants are like me; some look like ordinary people, others are even stranger than I am. I like carrots, but I have a lot of paperwork to do, so I don't have time to come to your farm. But thank you for the invitation. And I don't know the X-Men," Rumi told the students.

After a bit of chatting, she went to the cafeteria, bought lunch, and ate alone. After that, she attended classes all afternoon until they ended. After a long day, she left school, but not before many students invited her to karaoke bars and other places, some with the intention of having fun, others with malice and perversion. But she was tired for the day, so she went home.

While she was a few blocks from her house, she felt a group of people trying to surround her. She headed to a somewhat dark alley where she could get rid of them quickly; she was already tired of her day being so bad.

"Look what we have here, a fucking mutant," said the boy who bullied her at school with amusement and lust.

"You didn't lie, friend, she really is beautiful. She'll cost a lot on the market, but we can have some fun with her first," said a drug addict maliciously. After a few minutes, she was surrounded by 15 gang members.

She just laughed at the irony of her situation; she had died and reincarnated stopping a rape, and now she was the one they wanted to rape. For a moment, she wondered if some Japanese person would appear to stop this attack like some generic anime protagonist, die and reincarnate in some generic isekai, even though she didn't need help.

"What are you laughing at, you whore? You're lucky your face will be expensive, because otherwise I'd beat you until I knocked out all your teeth," the drug addict said furiously at seeing this mutant laughing at them as if they were a joke.

"I laugh at you idiots, I'll be generous and break all your bones," Rumi said in an authoritarian and annoyed voice as she released a small fraction of her Conqueror's Haki in the form of a shockwave. That was all it took, as all the gang members and their classmate went flying, crashing violently into the buildings, breaking many of their bones and leaving some paralyzed for life. If any of them had been awake, they would have screamed like mad, but they were all knocked out instantly when touched by her Haki.

She thought it was an exaggeration to use Haki on mere gang members, but she was already tired of how idiotic some Japanese people turned out to be.

Without further distraction, she walked towards her house. After a few minutes, she arrived home, changed into her pajamas, and went to sleep. She thought about her entire day and all the disappointment she experienced upon entering her school and came to only one conclusion.

"Japanese school isn't like in anime," Rumi said resignedly as she fell asleep, hoping that all her days at school wouldn't be so awful.

-----------------------------------------------------

Rumi arrives at school and it's not what I expected. I realized that in all the fight scenes Rumi has had so far, she hasn't used Conqueror's Haki or Armament Haki. The only one she actively uses is Observation Haki to dodge all the attacks and sense the people who are spying on her. So I decided that they would be used more frequently, mainly in fights with villains and other characters with powers.

In generic fights with random guys, they won't be used since Rumi loves to fight, although there may be days when she's tired and finishes everyone off with one supreme blow, like in this chapter.

Rumi will start fighting gangs and other OC villains in later chapters. I tried to find Marvel villains of Japanese origin, but I couldn't find any, so I have to make some up. I thought of some with ridiculous origins as a tribute to average Marvel villains, like Glue Man, a man with a glue gun who commits robberies with glue, and his power is a glue gun. Later, more powerful and serious villains will gradually appear.

As for the MCU, it all starts with Iron Man in 2010. Right now she's 15 years old in 2007, she'll be 18 by then and unlock the Thunder Fruit, and she'll have a year to master it. So everything with X-Men will happen in 2 years, but all of that is for later.
