Chapter 5 - civil 2

Satisfied, Long Ming slung his gun over his shoulder and then looked at the map.

He wiped the dust off the map, and a simplified map of the mobile fortress appeared.

Long Ming scanned the map with his bracelet.

"Notification: You have unlocked the Lekodo Desert map,"

a notification popped up on the bracelet.

Long Ming immediately checked the map in the bracelet and found that the desert map he was in was unlocked, clearly showing the terrain of the entire area.

He then carefully studied the unlocked map.

Although it was just a game, it was incredibly realistic, making Long Ming increasingly curious about the history of this world.

He wanted to know what had happened here, how those monsters were born, and whether these monsters really caused the extinction of the natives.

Unfortunately, he hadn't found any valuable clues so far.

However, Long Ming had a feeling that as long as he could enter the mobile fortress, he should be able to find some clues.

  Bang!

Suddenly, a sharp gunshot rang out in the distance.

Long Ming's eyes narrowed instantly, and

he rushed out of the iron house. Judging from the volume of the gunshot, it wasn't far away. Could it be that Gu Yi and the others were in trouble?

  ...

  In the narrow alley,

Gu Yi and Chen Wei were running desperately forward.

Five players were chasing them relentlessly, led by none other than Zheng Bin and Cao Heng.

  "Hurry up, they're catching up!"

Chen Wei shouted anxiously to Gu Yi.

  "Damn it, I know!"

  Gu Yi replied hastily.

At this moment, Zheng Bin raised his Ducati K1 single-shot rifle, aimed at the running Gu Yi, and pulled the trigger.

  Bang!

  "Ah!"

Chen Wei screamed, then fell to the ground, his bright red blood staining the ground.

"Damn, how can this gun be so inaccurate!"

Zheng Bin couldn't help but curse when he saw that Gu Yi hadn't fallen, but Chen Wei had been shot in the buttocks.

  "Damn it!"

Seeing Chen Wei hit, Gu Yi angrily turned around, raised his Ducati K1 rifle, and pulled the trigger.

  Bang!

The bullet whizzed past Zheng Bin and the others, hitting the wall.

They were startled, and their pursuit came to a halt.

At this moment, Gu Yi reached out to help Chen Wei up.

Chen Wei, clutching his buttocks and enduring the pain, shouted at Gu Yi,

"Run! Otherwise, we'll all die here!"

  "But!"

"No buts, run! Otherwise, they'll get off easy."

  "Bastard!"

Seeing that Chen Wei was beyond saving, Gu Yi could only put him on the ground and grit his teeth as he ran forward.

"Where do you think you're going!"

Cao Heng raised his gun and pulled the trigger at the fleeing Gu Yi.

  Bang!

Gu Yi ducked, the bullet hitting the alley wall, sparks flying.

His heart skipped a beat, and he suddenly accelerated to the intersection ahead, turning into another alley.

  "Damn it, chase after him!"

Zheng Bin panicked as Gu Yi ran away and desperately gave chase.

At that moment, Chen Wei, who had been shot, grabbed Zheng Bin's leg and shouted through gritted teeth, "Don't even think about

  getting past me!"

  "Damn it, die!"

Zheng Bin was immediately pulled back, then angrily raised his gun and fired another shot at Chen Wei's head.

  Bang!

Instantly, Chen Wei's head exploded, his body turned into specks of light, and his backpack fell off.

However, Zheng Bin and the others didn't even glance at him, but quickly gave chase.

When they followed him into another alley, they found that Gu Yi had already rushed out of the alley and run outside.

  They anxiously chased after him.

Gu Yi had run to a small circular square.

The entire square was empty, surrounded by houses, with a blurry bronze statue standing in the center.

He frantically ran back the way he had come.

Soon, Zheng Bin and the others caught up, Cao Heng shouting with a dark face.

  "He's running away."

  "Hmph, dream on!"

Zheng Bin raised his gun at Gu Yi and pulled the trigger again.

  Bang!

  "Ah!"

Gu Yi fell heavily to the ground, clutching his wounded left leg and howling in pain. He crawled towards the statue in front of him and then hid on the circular metal base about a meter high beneath it.

Seeing that Gu Yi had been shot, Zheng Bin and his men rushed over excitedly.

Gu Yi took a deep breath, immediately poked his head out, and raised his gun to fire at Zheng Bin and the others.

  Bang!

The bullet struck the wall next to Zheng Bin, sparks flying.

Zheng Bin and the others' expressions changed slightly. They quickly stopped and retreated to the side path, not daring to rush forward rashly. The plaza offered little cover, making them easy targets.

Although they outnumbered Gu Yi and were confident they could take him down, none of them wanted to die.

At this moment, Zheng Bin shouted at Gu Yi, who had been shot.

"Kid, you can't escape. Hand over the stuff obediently, and we'll let you live."

"Dream on! You bunch of bastards, I'll kill you sooner or later!"

Gu Yi said, removing the spent cartridge and preparing to reload, only to find the chamber empty. His heart sank again.

"I advise you not to be so stubborn! If we catch you later, you'll be in for a world of hurt."

  Zheng Bin threatened viciously.

"Come on then, I won't shoot anyone else, I'll just focus on you!"

Gu Yi endured the pain and retorted defiantly.

He was out of bullets and could only stall for time as much as possible.

  "Damn it!"

Zheng Bin was also furious with Gu Yi.

"Why are we wasting our breath talking to him? Let's just go and take him down together."

Cao Heng looked at Zheng Bin with some confusion.

"It's easy to get killed. And, did you forget about the safe?"

Zheng Bin's face revealed a greedy expression. Although he was a bit far away at the time, he couldn't be wrong; this guy definitely got something good.

"You're very thoughtful, but this guy is pretty tough. I guess he won't cooperate."

Cao Heng immediately realized that if this guy stuffed it into the safe, then all their efforts would be in vain.

"Then let's kill him. We'll take whatever we can get."

A ruthless look appeared on Zheng Bin's face.

  "Okay."

Cao Heng and the others raised their guns, cutting off their line of sight, and crept towards Gu Yi.

Gu Yi secretly peeked out and saw Zheng Bin and the others cautiously surrounding him, their faces showing despair.

  Bang!

  Suddenly, a gunshot rang out.

Gu Yi was startled, thinking he had been shot, but found himself completely unharmed. So he peeked out again.

He saw Cao Heng's eyes wide open, lying on the ground.

Zheng Bin and his men were startled and immediately looked in the direction of the gunfire.

They saw Long Ming standing on the extended platform on the second floor to their right, rapidly emptying and reloading his single-shot rifle.

  "Damn it!"

Zheng Bin and the others immediately raised their guns and fired at Long Ming.

  Bang, bang!

Long Ming was startled and quickly retreated into a blind spot.

Bullets struck the wall and the iron platform, sparks flying.

When he peeked out again, bullets came flying.

  Clang, clang!

  Long Ming was immediately suppressed.

"Damn it, Sharu, you stay here and watch. Sun Wu, Wu Kang, you two come after me!"

Seeing that he couldn't hit Long Ming, Zheng Bin told Sharu to stay behind while he led Sun Wu and the other man after Long Ming.

Seeing Zheng Bin and the others chasing after him, Long Ming immediately turned and ran.

After running a distance along the extended platform on the second floor, he saw two forks in the road ahead.

He didn't run in the direction Gu Yi had fallen, but instead chose the opposite direction to avoid leading the enemy there.

"You bastard, don't run away if you dare!"

Zheng Bin and the others, seeing Long Ming trying to escape, chased after him desperately from below.

Long Ming immediately crouched down, using blind spots and the dense buildings as cover as he ran across the outer platform.

At this moment, Cell, looking utterly bewildered, saw that Zheng Bin and the others were gone, leaving him alone. A greedy look immediately appeared on his face.

If he could kill Gu Yi, the spoils would be his.

Although he was in cahoots with Zheng Bin, it didn't mean they were of one mind.

As the saying goes, "Man dies for wealth, birds die for food."

Cell then cautiously crept towards Gu Yi.

This book was first published on Taiwan Novel Network to solve your reading slump.com, providing you with a reading experience without errors or disordered chapters

. At this moment, Gu Yi also noticed Cell approaching him, and muttered in despair,

  "It's over!"

Time ticked by, and Cell slowly approached Gu Yi, his gun constantly aimed, ready to fire the moment Gu Yi dared to show his face.

Gu Yi was drenched in sweat, never before feeling time drag on so agonizingly. His resentment grew stronger, but he could only silently await death.

Just then, a gunshot rang out.

Gu Yi was startled and peeked out to see Cell fall, turning into a white light and leaving behind a backpack.

He then saw Long Ming tumble down the other side of the stairs, landing steadily on the ground and running quickly towards him.

  "Brother!"

  Gu Yi shouted excitedly.

Long Ming rushed to Gu Yi's side, asking with concern,

  "Are you alright?"

"I got shot in my left foot, it hurts so much! What kind of crappy game is this, so realistic!"

Gu Yi complained, enduring the pain.

Long Ming glanced at Gu Yi's left foot and saw it was still bleeding.

He immediately grabbed Gu Yi's clothes, forcibly tore off a piece, and used it to bandage the wound, reducing the bleeding.

"We need to get out of here quickly, those guys will be catching up soon,"

  Long Ming said.

Zheng Bin and his two companions caught up. Running down the stairs from the upper level, they saw Long Ming rescuing Gu Yi and immediately raised their guns, shouting,

  "Damn it, kill him!"

Long Ming grabbed Gu Yi and dodged around the statue's circular base.

  Bang! Bang!

Bullets struck the base, sparks flying.

Long Ming dodged the fire, immediately raising his single-shot rifle and firing.

  Bang!

A bullet grazed past Zheng Bin's head.

Zheng Bin recoiled in shock, frantically raising his gun to fire at Long Ming.

Long Ming missed his first shot, immediately retreating behind the base, quickly ejecting the spent cartridge and reloading.

He took a deep breath, then leaned out again and pulled the trigger.

  Bang!

Sun Wu was instantly blown to the head and fell.

Zheng Bin and Wu Kang were terrified and immediately retreated, hiding behind two metal trash cans.

  "Awesome! Bro, two left!"

Gu Yi shouted excitedly as Long Ming took down another one.

However, Long Ming said to Gu Yi in a deep voice,

"I only have one bullet left. Do you have any?"

  "Ah, I'm out too."

Gu Yi's mood plummeted like a rollercoaster, from cloud nine to deep valley.

Long Ming also felt very troubled. One bullet was not enough to take down two people, and close combat was also very difficult. Moreover, hand-to-hand combat was not guaranteed to win.

On the other side, Wu Kang asked Zheng Bin anxiously,

"Brother Zheng, what do we do now?"

"Go call for reinforcements. I'll keep an eye on them!"

Zheng Bin's face grew increasingly grim. He hadn't expected Gu Yi's new companion to be so strong. Three of their five men had been killed. Relying on them alone, they might be counter-killed.

  "Okay!"

Upon hearing Zheng Bin's words, Wu Kang immediately turned and ran.

Long Ming heard the commotion and peeked out, then saw Wu Kang turn and run away.

  Bang!

Zheng Bin raised his single-shot rifle and fired at Long Ming, who had poked his head out.

Long Ming quickly pulled back, the bullet hitting the base.

  "What's wrong?"

Gu Yi asked, seeing Long Ming's serious expression.

"One of them ran away, probably to get backup,"

Long Ming guessed with a grim face.

  "What do we do now?"

"We can only retreat. I'll help you!"

"Forget it, that guy's watching us. You can't escape with me. You should retreat by yourself."

Gu Yi shook his head hopelessly.

Long Ming's expression changed, then he lowered his voice and said,

  "I have a way!"

  "What way?"

Gu Yi was also taken aback, looking at Long Ming in surprise.

"We can use this statue to block the view and crawl backward on our hands!"

"That seems like a good idea!"

  "Let's go!"

Long Ming then led Gu Yi to lie down on the ground, and the two calculated the angle, crawling backward little by little on their hands.

Although Gu Yi's foot was injured, his hands were fine, so he could move around quite well.

Zheng Bin, hiding behind a trash can, kept his eyes glued to the area where Long Ming was hiding.

He watched for a long time but saw no sign of Long Ming and his companion emerging, only hearing occasional booming sounds.

Although somewhat puzzled, Zheng Bin didn't dwell on it and continued watching.

  Time ticked by.

Seeing no movement from Long Ming and his companion, Zheng Bin grew increasingly suspicious, but he dared not venture out alone.

Fortunately, Wu Kang arrived with three other players.

  "Brother Zheng, we're here!"

"Good! They're hiding behind the statue. Follow me and surround them!"

Zheng Bin's face hardened, and he led Wu Kang and the others cautiously towards the statue.

They approached the statue step by step, their hearts pounding in their chests, their grip on their guns tightening.

The moment they got close, Zheng Bin and the others went all out, charging forward with their guns raised.

But when they reached the statue, they found it empty.

  "Where are they?"

Wu Kang and the others looked at Zheng Bin in confusion.

"Damn it, no wonder there was no movement for so long, they ran away!"

Zheng Bin stomped his foot in frustration.

  "What do we do now?"

Wu Kang and the others looked at Zheng Bin with dark faces.

At this moment, Zheng Bin noticed the bloodstains on the ground and said with a cold smile.

"What's the rush? See the bloodstains on the ground? They can't have gone far!"

  "Then let's chase them!"

Wu Kang and the others immediately brightened up .

  "Let's go!"

Zheng Bin led the group to follow the bloodstains.

On the other side, Long Ming helped Gu Yi escape to the street leading into the fortress. Ahead was the entrance to the sewers.

"Hang in there a little longer, the entrance to the sewers is just ahead."

"Okay, this time we really owe you a lot."

"It's nothing, but how did you guys get involved with them?"

"What did we do to them? These people from the City of Sin are disgusting. They get jealous when they see we found something good."

  Gu Yi said angrily.

  "I know."

Long Ming understood what had happened.

The two quickly reached the sewer entrance, and Long Ming helped Gu Yi down.

  "Slow down."

  "Okay."

Gu Yi then slowly climbed down.

But just then, Zheng Bin arrived with Wu Kang and others. Seeing that Long Ming and Gu Yi were trying to escape, they all raised their guns and opened fire.

Long Ming also noticed that Zheng Bin and the others were chasing after them immediately, and decisively pushed Gu Yi down.

-

+

  "Ah!"

Gu Yi hadn't even reacted before he fell down.

  Bang! Bang!

Long Ming jumped straight down, bullets hitting the edge of the sewer opening.

  Boom!

[At this point, I hope readers will remember our domain name: Taiwan Novel Network, to solve your book drought, t͜͜͡͡w͜͜͡͡k͜͜͡͡a͜͜͡͡n͜͜͡͡.c͜͜͡͡o͜͜͡͡m͜͜͡͡, super useful!]

After landing, Long Ming immediately helped the fallen Gu Yi up and fled along the passage.

"Ouch, that hurts! Brother, you run yourself, I can't escape. I don't want these things, they're all yours, you take them and get out of here!"

Gu Yi reached into his backpack and pulled out a double-barreled pistol and a short staff about thirty centimeters long, made entirely of gold, with intricate lines engraved on the surface and a red gemstone embedded in the top, then stuffed them all into Long Ming's hands.

Long Ming was taken aback when he saw the short cane shoved into his hand. No wonder Zheng Bin and his men were chasing after Gu Yi and his companion; although the cane was an art piece, it didn't look ordinary at all. He himself was tempted, but in the end, he refused.

"I don't want it, and don't say such spineless things."

"Brother, I really can't walk anymore, I won't hold you back,"

Gu Yi said, enduring the pain.

At this moment, Zheng Bin and the others jumped down. They looked at Long Ming and his companion running ahead in the passage, reloaded their guns, and shouted fiercely.

  "Kid, die!"

Seeing the situation was bad, Gu Yi pushed Long Ming forward and then spread his arms to block him.

  Bang! Bang!

A burst of gunfire rang out.

Gu Yi was like a target, hit by shot after shot, his eyes wide open, muttering.

  "Ouch, that hurts."

Long Ming's face darkened instantly, and he immediately raised his single-shot rifle and fired back.

  Bang!

Zheng Bin and the others quickly ducked to avoid the bullet.

As it turned out, Long Ming's shot didn't hit them, but instead struck the overhead lighting in the passageway!

The dim lights shattered instantly, plunging the entire passage into darkness.

Long Ming hurriedly shoved his belongings into his backpack and ran for his life.

  "Damn it, chase him!"

Zheng Bin, furious, led his men in pursuit, reloading as they went, firing blindly ahead!

  Bang bang—

unfortunately, they ran out of bullets.

In the blink of an eye, Long Ming burst through the open iron gate and onto the extended platform.

He immediately ran towards the front of the platform.

When he reached the edge of the platform, Zheng Bin and the others also rushed out of the iron gate.

Seeing that Long Ming had nowhere to escape, they laughed and shouted,

  "Run!"

  "Why wouldn't I run!"

  ...

Long Ming frowned, snorted coldly, and jumped straight down.

"Holy crap, Brother Zheng jumped down!"

Wu Kang and the others exclaimed in disbelief.

"Damn it, he's got a death wish!"

Zheng Bin immediately led his men to rush over.

When they reached the edge of the outer platform, they discovered that Long Ming, who had jumped down, was still alive. He was running in the opposite direction from the mobile fortress, already a couple hundred meters away.

"How is this possible? He didn't die after jumping from that height?"

Zheng Bin's face was filled with disbelief; that was over ten meters high.

"Brother Zheng, there's an access ladder here."

At that moment, Wu Kang noticed an access ladder below the outer platform.

  "Damn it, shoot!"

Zheng Bin felt like he'd been tricked and raised his gun to fire at the fleeing Long Ming.

  Bang! Bang!

Unfortunately, they couldn't hit him at all, and Long Ming quickly disappeared into the night.

"Bastard! Don't let me see you again!"

Zheng Bin stomped his foot and cursed angrily.

  ...

On the other side, Long Ming glanced back at the mobile fortress, then raised his wristband to open the map, only to find there were no extraction points nearby. He then headed towards the extraction point he had previously explored.

  Whoosh~

A gust of wind blew by, and Long Ming couldn't help but shiver; the temperature was getting lower and lower.

He forced himself to keep going, knowing that once he reached the evacuation point, he would be free.

As the first hint of dawn appeared on the horizon, Long Ming dragged his exhausted body to the vicinity of the evacuation point.

However, he didn't approach rashly, but instead lay down on the sand dune, cautiously observing his surroundings.

There's a saying that the eve of victory is often the most dangerous.

He didn't want to be ambushed at the last minute, which would mean all his previous efforts would be in vain.

After a moment, confirming there were no ambushes, Long Ming glanced at his bracelet; he had survived in this world for over fifteen hours. He then got up and walked towards the evacuation platform.

Soon, Long Ming reached the platform, collapsed wearily onto it, and gasped for breath.

  Time

  ticked by.

Suddenly, Long Ming sensed something was wrong. The platform hadn't responded for a while. He sat up, muttering to himself with a conflicted expression,

"What's going on? Is the platform broken?"

  "No, it can't be broken."

Long Ming immediately dismissed his own thought. He had personally witnessed people evacuating from this location; the mechanical platform couldn't be faulty.

Just then, a notification popped up on his wristband:

"Notification: This evacuation point has been used. Please proceed to another unused evacuation point."

  "No way?"

Long Ming's lips twitched slightly upon seeing the notification. He hadn't expected to dig himself into such a trap.

However, he quickly composed himself and immediately opened the map to check all nearby evacuation points.

Next, Long Ming checked his status.

He was now moderately dehydrated, and his stamina had dropped to one-third.

Long Ming carefully calculated his remaining stamina, checked all the evacuation points, and chose one that was relatively far away, one he could reach at his limit.

He didn't choose a closer evacuation point because if it was too close to the ruins, it would easily have been used or used by someone. After

selecting his target, Long Ming immediately set off.

  It was midday.

Long Ming stared at the blazing sun, panting heavily as he walked forward. He was severely dehydrated, and his lips were cracked.

He glanced down at the map on his wristband; two kilometers to the chosen evacuation point. Just a little more perseverance, and he'd be there.

Suddenly, a whooshing sound echoed through the sky.

Startled, Long Ming instinctively looked up and saw a red streak of light piercing the night sky, hurtling towards him.

  "No way, this is unlucky!"

Long Ming's face darkened as he watched the red streak hurtling straight towards him.

Being crushed to death would be a terrible injustice.

Fortunately, the red streak of light passed over Long Ming's head and crashed into the desert three kilometers away.

  Boom!

A massive explosion accompanied by a sandstorm swept outwards.

Long Ming was stunned. He hadn't expected such a thing to happen during his retreat.

What on earth was that falling thing?

Long Ming was very curious. He wanted to go and see, but he hesitated.

He checked his status on his wristband, and a series of red notifications popped up.

  "Warning: You are severely dehydrated!"

  "Warning: You are severely hungry!"

  ...

Long Ming's expression kept changing. Although the object didn't seem to have fallen very far, his stamina was almost depleted, and he only had 2 hours and 16 minutes left. Moreover, judging from the direction it fell, the object was off his escape route.

If he risked going to check, he might not have the stamina to escape to the escape point, and then everything would be over.

But Long Ming was really unwilling to give up.

This world's civilization seemed to be very primitive, and normally it shouldn't produce anything of great value. However, Long Ming had a premonition that the falling red light might be something good.

Also, the terrain here was desert, and there were probably few people nearby.

Therefore, there was unlikely to be anyone fighting over it, and the risk was very low. It would be

a real pity to give up such a rare opportunity. Moreover, if he missed this opportunity, he might not be able to get it even if he encountered it again.

However, as the saying goes, fortune favors the bold, and Long Ming's eyes became very determined as he thought of this. Then, steeling his resolve, he changed direction and headed towards the spot where he had fallen.

  Chapter 19 Supplies

  An hour later.

Long Ming walked forward step by step. Although the fall didn't seem far, he still hadn't seen anything.

He was starting to doubt if he'd gone astray.

However, Long Ming continued forward; there was no turning back now.

When he climbed the sand dune in front of him, he saw a huge impact crater, and inside the crater lay an oval-shaped mechanical pod.

Long Ming took a deep breath and walked step by step to the pod.

The materials and craftsmanship of this pod were extremely advanced, completely out of step with the civilization of this world.

Long Ming raised his wristband and scanned it.

  "Notification: Supply pod detected. Open?"

Long Ming was immediately delighted to see the notification. He hadn't expected it to be a supply pod. If there was food and water inside, that would be great. He clicked.

  "Yes!"

  *Click!*

The entire supply pod immediately cracked open, revealing a 1.5-meter-long weapon carrying case and two metal boxes.

Long Ming reached into the weapon carrying case and opened it, revealing a brand-new M24 sniper rifle and its accessories. Its black metal body had a matte finish, giving it a very high-end feel.

Long Ming took a deep breath and picked up the M24 sniper rifle.

The scanning bracelet immediately displayed a notification:

  M24 Sniper Rifle.

  Durability: 100/100.

Detailed Specifications: Caliber 7.62mm, Overall Length 1092mm, Weight 5.49kg, Magazine Capacity 5 rounds, Effective Range 800m.

After reviewing the data on the bracelet, Long Ming placed the rifle back in the carrying case.

If he could take this weapon out, he'd hit the jackpot.

After doing this, Long Ming picked up a box and opened it, revealing a round syringe inside.

  Perception Potion

Effect: Enhances the five senses for one hour after use.

Long Ming glanced at it, then reached out and opened the second box. Inside was an exquisite invitation.

Long Ming was immediately disappointed; it was a Civilization Scroll instead of supplies.

However, he quickly composed himself, checked the time, and found that only 1 hour and 7 minutes remained.

The evacuation point was still nearly 5.2 kilometers away, which wouldn't be a problem under normal circumstances. But Long Ming was currently hungry, tired, and thirsty, making it truly difficult.

At this moment, Long Ming made a decision: he discarded his single-shot rifle and the chains in his backpack to minimize his load.

Although he was reluctant, he had to reduce his burden as much as possible in the current situation.

If he couldn't evacuate alive, even the best supplies would be meaningless.

Long Ming then slung his M24 over his shoulder, packed the perception potion, invitation, and accessories into his backpack, and turned to head towards the evacuation point.

  An hour later

, Long Ming had no idea how far he had walked. His pace slowed, his legs felt like lead, each step requiring immense effort.

The scorching sun beat down on him, greedily draining every last drop of moisture from his body.

Long Ming felt as if his body no longer belonged to him, his consciousness fading.

At this moment, the screen on his bracelet flashed red warning messages:

"Warning: You have been online for more than 23 hours and 53 minutes!"

"Warning: Your body is at its limit."

Long Ming's body began to sway, then he collapsed heavily to the ground, panting as he looked up.

A mechanical platform sat not far away, but his body was at its limit; no matter how strong his will, he couldn't hold on any longer and couldn't stand up.

Even so, Long Ming didn't give up. He gritted his teeth and crawled towards the platform inchingly.

When only 5 minutes remained of the 24-hour window,

Long Ming could no longer hold on and collapsed to the ground, motionless.

One second, two seconds, three seconds...

  When only 30 seconds remained...

Suddenly, a hand pressed down on the mechanical platform, and Long Ming struggled to lift his head to look at it.

The indicator light on the platform was green.

A smile appeared on Long Ming's face. He mustered his remaining strength to climb onto the platform and gazed up at the azure sky.

In an instant, a faint halo appeared on the intricate patterns at the bottom of the platform.

  *Buzz*

The bracelet vibrated, displaying a prompt:

  "Evacuate?"

Long Ming smiled wearily; he'd won his gamble!

He shakily reached out and tapped "Evacuate."

  *Buzz*

The mechanical platform activated instantly, and Long Ming began to float.

At that moment, he felt an unprecedented sense of ease, letting his body slowly drift towards the sky, finally transforming into a streak of white light and disappearing.

In the dimly lit bedroom ,

Long Ming suddenly opened his eyes, then coughed violently.

  *Cough cough!*

  He reached for his helmet.

An overwhelming sense of exhaustion washed over him; he felt utterly drained, his vision blurring.

It felt like someone who had just survived drowning.

However, Long Ming forced himself to get out of bed, went to the table, picked up the cough medicine, took a sip, then unscrewed the anti-immunity bottle, poured out two pills, and swallowed them.

After doing this, Long Ming returned to bed, closed his eyes, and fell into a deep sleep.

He didn't know how much time had passed when he groggily opened his eyes and slowly sat up.

He shook his head; it felt heavy, but at least he felt better.

But then, a discordant sound rang out.

  *Gulp*

Long Ming felt completely drained, exhausted and hungry.

He turned to look out the window; it was still dark, not yet dawn.

But when Long Ming checked the time on his phone, he froze.

It was 8:14 PM, meaning he'd slept for over ten hours, almost two days without food or water.

Long Ming quickly left the bedroom and went to the kitchen, reaching for the refrigerator to find something to eat.

Unfortunately, the refrigerator was empty. Long Ming

reluctantly closed the refrigerator, put on his coat and shoes, and hurriedly left the house.

Inside a 24-hour convenience store. *Ding

  -dong*

  "Welcome!"

With the notification sound, a middle-aged man in a gray shirt at the checkout counter looked up at the door.

  Long Ming walked in.

"Isn't this Long Ming? I haven't seen you in a while,"

the convenience store owner greeted Long Ming with some surprise.

"Yeah, I've been pretty busy lately,"

Long Ming explained to Boss Tang Ke, then headed towards the grocery shelf.

He grabbed five packets of instant noodles and a pack of sausages.

Actually, Long Ming really wanted a cup of instant noodles, but they were too expensive, so he gave up.

He took his things to the cashier and said to Boss Tang Ke

  , "Check, please."

"That'll be 21 yuan in total, but for regular customers, it'll be 20."

  "Thank you." "

But Long Ming, I'm not trying to be mean, but your health isn't very good, so don't eat these things too often."

  "Yeah, I know."

Long Ming silently paid with his phone and left with his things.

Tang Ke watched this scene and shook his head regretfully.

"Such a good kid, what a pity!"
