The first item was fine, just a piece of high tech that could guide the way.
The second one was the real prize, a Shinigami's Zanpakuto.
No wonder the jar burst with gold light.
"Mr. Amon, how is it? I think I saw a sword."
Zoro's eyes burned as he stared at the Zanpakuto. For a swordsman, a blade is a partner, something you can entrust your life to.
A sword? Fine. In this world where swords and sabers blur together, calling a Zanpakuto a sword works.
"Yes, one of the two is indeed a blade, and a fine one at that," Amon said with a nod. "But let us check the other piece first, this little pointer."
Seeing Zoro practically vibrating with impatience, Amon chuckled and teased him a bit, leaving the Zanpakuto for later while he lifted the GPS guide.
"What is that thing?" Zoro asked, puzzled.
"Never mind what it is for a second. Zoro, do you get lost often?"
If Amon remembered right, Zoro got lost all the time. With a GPS guide he should get lost less. In other words, very practical.
"Who says I get lost. I, I just, I just do not want to get there too fast."
Hit right in the pride, Zoro flushed scarlet.
Kuina toppled his excuse with a laugh. "Zoro, I literally saw you take the wrong path today. Otherwise we would not still be out here this late." They had agreed to duel at sunset. She had waited a long time before Zoro finally found the place. The spot was not even far from the dojo.
"T..that is because I had something to do, so I came late."
Admitting to getting lost was too embarrassing. He would rather fight than confess.
"Hehe, I know, I know. If you do not get lost, then this little thing is probably useless." Amon grinned. "You asked what it does. It is a guide that points the way."
"With this, you will not get lost again."
"A guide. With it I will not get lost."
Zoro's eyes lit up at once. If he had this, then from now on...
But he had just claimed he never got lost. Admitting it now would sting.
As he wrestled with himself, Amon read his thoughts and nudged him. "Since you do not need it, I will just toss it. It is not that useful anyway."
"Wait. Mr. Amon, I think I could try wearing it. Sometimes I really cannot find the path."
Hearing Amon threaten to throw it away, Zoro panicked.
"Hehe, were you not the one who said you never get lost?" Amon teased. Zoro's face turned red again, which was honestly pretty funny.
"Alright, enough teasing. Take it and test it." Kids bruise easily. Amon let up.
"If I wear it like this, I will not get lost?"
Zoro strapped on the GPS guide, itching to go.
"Hehe, you should be fine. If you want, take a lap that way and see if you make it back," Amon suggested.
"Okay." Zoro wanted to test the magic himself. He waved a quick goodbye and hurried into the trees.
Kuina watched him go and bit her lip. "Mr. Amon, will that really stop Zoro from getting lost?"
"Relax. With the guide on, he should not lose his way."
Amon trusted system items. Yet when half an hour passed and Zoro still had not returned, they traded looks.
Come on, Zoro, are you serious. Lost again.
"Mr. Amon, did you not say he would not get lost with the guide?"
"Ahem, let me check. Maybe it malfunctioned."
Amon opened up Observation Haki. The world within three hundred meters sprang into focus. He quickly located Zoro, blundering through the grove.
"Found him. You have got to be kidding me, he really is lost."
Even with the guide pointing the route, Zoro still could not pick a direction. Amon was speechless.
Was this the legendary late stage of terminal direction-loss. Not even a guide could cure it.
Sigh. The unstoppable Zoro, lost again. Painfully accurate.
