Chapter 86: Parasites Appear!
As soon as the school bell rang, Izumi Shinichi grabbed his schoolbag and ran home.
Suddenly, his arm seemed to grow longer, catching an eraser from an incredible distance. And then there was his right hand, uncontrollably making basketball shots—there was definitely something wrong with his right hand!
"Should I ask him?" The image of Jake in his black suit flashed through his mind; he always felt that a man in a pure black suit was trustworthy.
However, he shook his head, unwilling to accept the man's help. He couldn't quite explain why; perhaps it was because the man was a mysterious stranger, and there was something else he didn't want to admit—maybe it was Murano Satomi.
Earlier in class, Murano Satomi had invited him to an after-school dinner, supposedly to thank that man—that was clearly a date!
But Shinichi didn't dare say it aloud, and he needed to hurry home to find a solution to his right-hand problem.
Back home, Shinichi immediately turned on his computer and typed "unconscious, uncontrollable right hand" into a search engine.
In the 21st century, many people habitually search for solutions to problems online.
Just as he was typing, he suddenly saw an eyeball appear on the palm of his right hand!
It appeared for only a blink and then quickly disappeared!
It was definitely not an illusion!
Izumi Shinichi grabbed a small utility knife from the desk with his left hand, aimed it at his right hand, and prepared to stab it the moment the eye reappeared.
As for the pain of the blade piercing his hand? Could it be more terrifying than an eye appearing on his palm?
Just as he was about to plunge the blade into his right hand, he suddenly felt his right hand go out of control. To his horror, his entire right hand deformed!
It turned into a giant snake-like head, like the head of an alien monster!
Its gaping maw could even swallow Izumi Shinichi's head whole!
Terrified by the monster's head, he kept backing away, finally falling onto the bed. But the mouth was on his right arm; no matter how far he retreated, it was pointless. The distance between them couldn't be increased.
Just when he thought he was about to be eaten, suddenly the monster's head closed its maw and slowly twisted, transforming into a strange little creature.
Its right index finger was an eye, its thumb and middle finger resembled hands, and there was even a mouth on its palm—it looked oddly cute.
"Failed, failed, failed, failed..."
"Failed, failed..."
This monster growing on Izumi Shinichi's right hand kept repeating this phrase.
"Failed, didn't eat the brain."
"What are you?!" Izumi Shinichi pulled his right hand away from his face and demanded.
"My right hand, ate it, my right hand, ate it..."
"You ate my right hand!!" Izumi Shinichi's voice suddenly rose several octaves.
On this day, Izumi Shinichi and his right hand finally began to get to know each other, and the story of a man and his parasite officially began.
Meanwhile, Jake had been wandering around all day without finding anything.
"You're hiding really well," he muttered, chewing his lollipop before spitting it out, accurately shooting it into a trash can a meter away.
Looking at the crowded pedestrians, which one was the parasite? It was completely impossible to tell with the naked eye.
Just then, Murano Satomi came from school. She ran up to Jake, still breathing heavily as she stopped, her breath turning into white mist in the cold air.
"I'm sorry to have kept you waiting, Jake-san," Murano Satomi said apologetically, bowing to Jake.
"It's alright, I haven't been here long either," Jake waved his hand to indicate he didn't mind. "Shall we go eat?"
"Yes," Murano Satomi nodded, turning around and walking to Jake's right, side by side, her arms crossed over her shoulders as she carried her backpack. "It's a restaurant. Judging from your name, Jake-san, you're American, right?"
"Actually, this is my first time in Japan, so it would be nice to try Japanese food." Seeing Murano Satomi nod in agreement with a slight hint of regret, Jake knew she wasn't just doing it for him; she probably wanted american food too. So he added, "But it's still a great honor to taste cuisine with the beautiful Murano-san."
"Oh, not at all," Murano Satomi smiled shyly, looking down. "Jake-san, please just call me Satomi."
Jake smiled and nodded.
The two slowly walked into a small alley, where a restaurant with Japanese characters hung above the entrance, That showing name of Restaurant," each character displayed on a cloth banner.
Opening the Japanese-style sliding door, Murano Satomi cheerfully poked her head inside.
"Hello!" Satomi felt very happy today. The person who saved her yesterday had returned today—wasn't this fate?
Fate often begins a friendship.
And looking at the man in the black suit standing behind her, he didn't have the same awkward air as Izumi Shinichi; instead, he possessed a calm and confident demeanor.
He also exuded an air of mystery, and probably no girl could resist such an enigmatic charm.
Murano Satomi seemed to have fallen for him, though she hadn't realized it herself.
She waited quietly for a minute, but still no one responded.
"Maybe the owner isn't here," Jake suggested. "Let's go look somewhere else."
Having just arrived in this country, trying some local delicacies was the most important thing.
However, Murano Satomi's expression wasn't quite right. She had highly recommended this restaurant, and now that she had brought someone here, she couldn't treat them to a meal—wasn't that too embarrassing?
"Maybe the owner is asleep in the kitchen," she said as she walked in. "I'll go check; he often naps in the kitchen."
"Hey! Is anyone there?"
Before Jake could call out to Murano Satomi, she had already gone inside.
Watching Murano Satomi's back, Jake shook his head and went in as well, observing his surroundings.
Although it was a american restaurant, the interior was decorated in a Japanese style.
It looked somewhat incongruous.
In short, this was a place for Japanese people to eat food.
In just a short while, Murano Satomi had already gone into the kitchen. Judging from her familiarity with the place, she had obviously been to this restaurant many times. No wonder she was a little disappointed when Jake said he didn't want american food; it turned out she wanted to eat it herself.
"I remember Murano Satomi in the original movie was a very mature girl. Why does she seem a little more carefree now?"
"Ahhh!!"
Just as Jake was silently thinking about other things, a scream instantly pulled him from his thoughts back to reality!
His leather shoes slammed heavily on the wooden floor, and Jake darted forward instantly.
He reached the kitchen, and a strong stench of blood assaulted his nostrils.
Murano Satomi was clutching her chest, screaming and trembling with her eyes closed. At her feet lay a large mass of red, mangled flesh.
Within the pile of flesh, one could vaguely make out what appeared to be human fingers.
"Parasite!"
Jake's brow furrowed, and with a swift movement, two pistols slipped from his suit sleeves into his hands!
He quickly moved to Murano Satomi's side to protect her.
Parasites—this was the first time he'd encountered one. From the movies, these monsters were killing machines!
*Thump.
Thump—!*
Heavy, slow footsteps came from behind. Jake immediately shielded Murano Satomi behind him, then turned around.
"Are there any other rooms in this kitchen?"
"Th-there's a storage room over there…" Murano Satomi's legs went weak, and she slumped to the ground, her legs trembling.
"What exactly happened? And is the owner alright?"
