"Oh, and don't deny it, kid. It's pretty obvious."
Should I tell him the truth? I'm not sure what to do. I'm not sure if I can trust him. "Well, it hasn't been too long."
"How'd you two get in?" The girl asks me this time.
Am I getting interrogated?
"I just snuck past the guards."
The girl looks at me with a disappointed look, "So you snuck past the trained professionals that are armed with keyminite weapons?"
"Yeah…" I say slowly.
Even the truth doesn't sound that legitimate. Afterall, we were just thrown onto a caravan filled with vegetables and then just showed up here.
The girl turns towards the corpse lying on the ground, "Well, we gotta clean up this mess."
"A mess you could've prevented, Serax." Mr. Heizen says to the daughter, with an unpleasant tone.
Serax quickly turns to her father, "I didn't cause this mess, he was the one who did this." she says while pointing at me.
I completely forgot about that. I completely forgot about what I did. I did it again, I killed someone.
"I had to do it, otherwise you would've died." I say to her.
Mr. Heizen squats down next to the man. He looks into his mouth, "The question isn't why did you do it," Mr. Heizen stands up, "it's how did you do it, how long have you been training?"
"I um," Before I can think of anything to say, the man looks to the right and then knocks me to the ground.
"Get down!" He yells as a ball of fire flies over me. It hits the tree to the right of me, making it explode. Brown chips fly in all directions, and one hits the right side of my neck. I hiss before flicking it off with my hand. I then hit my neck a few times.
"Fireball!"
I look upwards towards where the voice came from. Standing on top of the stagecoach is the man who was sitting on the stagecoach earlier. Only this time, he's holding a staff. The man has a purple vest, held together with yellow buttons, possibly made out of gold. He has brown hair and has almost no hair on it.
"I thought you dealt with him?" Serax says to her father.
"It doesn't matter right now!" Mr. Heizen yells.
The man jumps off the stagecoach and tries to blast us with fire. Mr. Heizen pulls me away from the deadly ember and waits for the man to hit the ground.
Serax gets into a stance and pulls back her blade as the man lands. She begins to sprint towards him, "Frozen heart!"
The man smiles and points his staff towards the girl. "Piercing storm!" He yells as multiple icicles appear out of thin air and go straight towards Serax.
The icicles stab into Serax one after another. She loses her stance and pauses. She then slips and falls, never looking away from the enemy.
"Sh*t!" Mr. Heizen roars. "You!" Mr. Heizen points at me, "Go check on her, make sure she's okay!"
I nod and run towards Serax after placing Anra onto the ground. Mr. Heizen runs in the opposite direction. From the looks of it, he's not directly going to attack the man.
"Are you ok?" I ask Serax.
"Yes, I'm fine!" Serax says, trying to get up.
She's wounded pretty badly; it's a good thing that some of those icicles missed. But, she is not in any condition to stand up, let alone fight. She'll bleed out if we don't do anything about this.
Mr. Heizen is not happy about his daughter getting attacked like this. He curves around and sprints towards the enemy, in the same stance Serrax was in.
"How stupid can this family be?" The man in the vest says, "Piercing storm!" He yells out again while holding up his staff.
Why is he doing the same thing? Did he not see what happened to Serrax?
"Melting point!" Mr. Hiezen yells out. Mr. Heizen thrusts his sword forward, and a large body of fire follows his weapon into the icicles. The icicles get moved out of the way, making every single one of them miss.
The man shuts his eyes, knowing what's about to happen, but when he opens them, he's still alive. But there's a blade about to slice his neck.
"You have two choices here, pick wisely." Mr. Heizen says with his sword on the man's neck.
The man freezes completely and doesn't move an inch. Mr. Heizen lifts up his foot and kicks the man, causing him to fly away and land on the grass. He does this while holding the man's staff, so the man can't blast him.
"I'm sorry!" The man says while standing back up, "I'm sorry, I swear I'll never try to hurt you guys again!"
Jesus, all he did was stick a sword up his throat. Actually, I guess that's a good reason to be scared.
"How is she?" Mr. Heizen asks.
"Oh, um, not good." I answer.
"I'm fine!" Serax claims.
Mr. Heizen walks over to us, "We need to get her to a hospital, now."
Serax gets up, but her dad helps her.
"I said I'm fine."
"Serrax, you are bleeding goddamit! How many times do I have to tell you that you shouldn't use frozen heart that carelessly?"
"Do you have any bandages?" I ask Mr. Heizen.
"Uh, yes, it should be in our caravan!"
I look around and see the caravan he's talking about. I then sprint over to it. I can't waste even a second, as she may die. I'm not letting another person die near me.
I jump into the caravan; it's pretty big, which means I have no clue where those bandages are.
I hop around, trying to find the bandages. I look through a drawer, nothing but a bunch of coins. I look through another drawer, nothing but a bunch of food. I look through a third drawer, and to my surprise, there are bandages in it.
"Found it?" Mr. Heizen asks me. I look to my right, Serrax isn't any better.
"Yes, I got them!" I say while holding the bandages in the air like it's some prize.
I toss the bandages to Mr. Heizen, and he catches them and says, "By the way, you left your brother on the ground."
How do I keep forgetting about him? I run, jump out of the caravan, and make a sprint towards Anra to make sure he's fine.
From what it looks like, he's not exactly hurt. He's still asleep, like how I was expecting him to be. A couple of gillos away from him is a blade, the blade I used to kill that bearded man. I pick up Anra and place him on my shoulder. He feels heavier than usual. I then walk over to the sword and pick it up as well. I wish I had something to hold this sword; it'd be pretty convenient right now.
While carrying the weight of a small horse, I walk back to the caravan. The number of steps I need to take to get to the caravan feels a lot more than it did before. But I still made it.
Serax looks like a mummy with all those bandages. At least she isn't bleeding anymore.
"I would ask if you're ok, but you're probably just going to yell at me, saying that you're fine again."
"I'm fine dad!"
She, in fact, is not fine; she would've died from those wounds.
"Erax, please, make sure she doesn't do something stupid." Mr. Heizen says while walking out of the caravan.
"And make sure she doesn't die before we reach the hospital!"
How am I supposed to do that?
