Chapter 13 - Alvax City Market

Bing! Bing! Bing!

The morning sun blasts into my face as an annoying sound, like a crazed man hammering a pan, is heard outside.

I lift the red blanket off me and throw it to the right. I then push my upper body up and rub my eyes. It feels like forever since I've gotten a good night's rest.

I shift my legs to the left and place them onto the floor from the mattress. I place my hand on the brown, wooden cabinet next to the bed and stand up.

My brother was sleeping on the right side of the bed, if you could count it as sleeping and not a coma.

"Leaving him at the hospital isn't a good idea, as anyone could put on an act and take him away."

Staying with us was the best option we had at the time.

I smile at him and pat him on the head. If I said that I had nothing to lose, I'd be wrong.

I walk over to the door, and before I twist the knob, I look down. There is a white piece of paper, as paper is almost always that color. I pick it up and read it, gone off the market to make some money, gotta make up for that hospital bill somehow, xe?

The market, are they traveling merchants of some sort? I place the letter into my pocket and twist the knob, exiting the room.

I take a left and walk past room 413, the room I was originally heading to, Mr. Heizen's room.

I make my way to the blue and gold stairs and go down one floor at a time.

Fourth Floor…

Third Floor…

Second Floor…

First Floor…

The front desk lady is found talking to a customer, she's wearing a blue uniform and a large cone-like hat. She smiles and waves at me. To the left side of the room, I find ten men in armor with Security Guard written on their armor. One of them, one with brown hair and a big beard, nods at me silently.

I exit the building and look back at the sign on it, Blue Peach Hotel. And the logo is quite literally a blue peach.

In front of me stands a large, gray pole with a flag on it. The flag has a sword, stabbed into the green ground, under the shining sun.

Tap! Tap! Tap!

My head zaps to the left, and my feet slide backwards as a speedy horse runs past me.

"Watch where you're walking, kid!" The man riding the horse yells. He should watch where he's riding.

I look around until I see a sign that says Alvax City Market. In the direction that the sign is pointing, I see a large crowd of people.

I've never really been to a city before, but I have been to a market, it was with my mom and Anra. It too was busy, but not this busy. I remember buying a couple of apples there.

I follow the sign into a very long and crowded section of the city, one where many stalls are set up. Children mingle with each other while their parents try to find good deals.

"I'll give you ten!"

"Twenty!"

"Fifteen!"

"Seventeen!"

"Deal!"

"Box of Azraba Roras for twelve Keyroes! Buy two, get one for free!" One vendor yells.

Roras, I haven't had those in a while. They're small and round but are very sweet and juicy.

I reach into my pocket and pull out a small bag and stare at it for a while. I then tug it back into my pocket and continue exploring the market. I see many stalls here, one for horses, one for vases, and one for paintings.

To the right of the painting stall, a man sits on a blue chair under an umbrella, facing a young man and a young woman. Between the chairs stands a stand holding a wide canvas. The man gently scratches the canvas with a brush. Next to the man and woman is a long line of people. Most of the people are accompanied by another.

I continue searching through the infinite market, with one goal in mind. I reach a weapon stand, and the vendor is a man with gray hair in black clothing.

"Do you have anything I can buy with this?" I say as I drop a bag onto the table. The man opens up the bag and dumps its contents onto the platform. After inspecting each coin, the man bends down and pulls out a dagger. He then pulls off the cover, showing its blueish blade. The man then says, "This is the best thing you can get for that, Keyminite dagger."

I think about it for a second and ask him while pointing at the long sword behind him, "What about that sword over there?"

"Hah, you're a good two hundred or so Keyroes short!" The man says with a laugh.

I sigh and say, "I'll take the dagger then."

The man then sets the dagger onto the platform and asks me, "You want a receipt?"

"No thanks." I say as I grab the dagger. I then walk away from the stand and continue exploring the market. I'm surprised I was able to buy a weapon. I only tried to buy one because the worst they could've said was no.

"Erax?" A man says behind me. I turn around and see Mr. Heizen, the man I've been looking for. "What are you doing here?" He asks.

"Been looking for you, I wanted to ask you something." I tell him.

"Well, you should've brought your sword. People are after you after all." He says.

"Back in Azraba, you'd have to be at least eighteen to buy a weapon, and I didn't want to get into trouble."

"I see, things don't work like that here." Mr. Heizen pauses, "What did you want to ask me exactly?"

I stay silent for a second or two before saying, "If I'm going to save Anra, I'm going to have to fight. Can you teach me how to use Keyminite weapons?"
