Chapter 5 - First Anguish

You look towards the big blue as it shifts from blue to the lovely orange color that makes you so relaxed, but it did not work this time. You still felt the fire burning in your heart; it felt hot. The heat you feel is burning you up from the inside, though you are able to endure it through pure force of will. As you stand up you feel the heat go down until it reaches your legs; they start feeling the heat at a stronger intensity than your heart. Until it explodes into one massive leap, as you are in the air you see the bird man, and you give chase.

You chase for days on end; neither one of you looks to be giving up. Cycles of your classic blue; orange, and black go on for a while. Not as long as your usual travels but it is still a long while. Until one moment, in the middle of a blue cycle the bird drops to the ground and becomes a "Thing" again. It brings out a scroll and starts to read off it in a language you understand "Oh mother of the earth, father of the sky, spirits of the forest; oceans; earth; the darkest voids; the lawmaker of the universe; and the brightest light. Please, aid me in these trials fate has dropped upon my mortal shell."

You watch as he says this, and you charge forward in order to stop it, though as you charge the voice comes back into your skull and it says "Let him, Let him, Let him." over and over again until you smash the earth. Your fists rain down upon the fragile ground as it breaks and shatters forming a giant crater where you stand, until the thing finally finishes his chanting. 7 giant pillars of light form around the creature, 7 beings descend down. Eldritch beings you cannot comprehend. One of pure light that controls that stars in the sky; one of pure dark that hold the stars in the sky; and the others you cannot make out as they appear as creatures almost censored out of reality. Your mortal body, and your vicious and primitive mind would tear into infinite pieces if it could see their true forms.

In the distance you hear a cackle, one you recognize but can't remember from where. Your body tenses up, and it grows weak. Reality starts to shift and tumble around as a circle of flames rise up. You jump back in fear, true fear, like the ones beasts feel towards you. A being of pure evil steps out of the flames, it wears a suit and tie, his presence alone knocks you out cold right there on the grassy floor, but right before you go out you see the thing that you've been chasing is gone. You have no idea how but it is gone, you curse everything around you with a low grumbling groan, and then you close your eyes.

As you awaken; you are not where you were when you got knocked out. The scenery has changed into a cold and desolate wasteland. You smell around and feel as if something has taken you here against your will. Your stomach growls and grumbles with great fervor, you look around only to find one pack of medium sized, furry creatures. Your raise your fists weakly and charge forth, though the cold is strong and fierce; you mutilate their bodies. Each bit of flesh and blood fuels your body and you slowly get back to your regular levels of strength.

After each wolf is devoured you feel much stronger, but nowhere back to where you were previously. The journey is tiring; you feed on smaller creatures you find inside the dirt and around. Walking takes a massive toll on your body as you grow weaker the longer you go without sustenance, but after the long journey you find a HUGE pack of large creatures sipping on water, they have no fur, but they are in the tundra along with you. They huddle for warmth and stay together, but that does not matter to you as you charge in hacking and slashing away. Eating and drinking until you are back to peak condition.

You walk with power in your steps through the large tundra until you find a large cave system. As you step inside you can't help but finding yourself noticing the large smell of power, though it is not from a creature. It smells like a liquid, and a clear one at that! You walk slowly and cautiously until you find a large pool of water filled with power waiting to be used up. You step inside and find yourself warmed up instantly, the water soothes your body and cradles you as if you are being held for the first time in your whole 500 years of life. You are barely able to climb out of the water since it felt so comforting, but you had to rest. You felt tired after all that time of walking and eating; and so you walk up towards a corner in the large room with the water pit. The heat keeps you from freezing; the closed off room helps you relax and feel much safer than if you were stationed at the front.

Once again; you stop breathing; you stop moving; you stop everything, but you aren't dead. You never are, as your eyes close and wander off for the final time before your long slumber you feel at ease for the first time in over 300 years. So you drift off into a long and deep slumber once more...
