Chapter 99 - Ch. 99: Day of Battle

"Incredible. I don't think a single person on either side has actually died yet. I thought you were joking when you promised that to Lord Rimuru, but…" Alvis was shocked at how seamlessly this battle was coming into place, but this was exactly as I'd pictured it.

"Well, if Clayman sent a force this weak, exactly where we lured him, it would be harder for us to lose. I am simply… going for the 'bonus points.'" I used a term that Rimuru had taught me.

It didn't really hurt that my new Unique Skill, Infernal Commander, had a subskill called Inspire Forces which made anyone under my command during a battle around 50% more powerful, and granted them Thought Communication.

"Still, it is incredible. At this point, I believe that the enemy is sunk."

"Yeah, no way they'll recover from this!" Suphia agreed with Alvis's observation. They were probably right. But that was a bad mindset to have. The battle wasn't won until the enemy couldn't fight back anymore. At all.

"Please, Lady Alvis. Enough of that. We may have the advantage, but we haven't won yet."

"Sir Benimaru, Alvis is fine. While I may not be your subordinate, we beastmen have given up command to you at the moment."

I already saw where this was going, so with an eye roll, I approved it. "Very well. For this battle, I will appoint you as my aide. Not that there's much left to do, admittedly."

"True. But there are a few… outstanding issues to be taken care of."

"Yes, but Gobta and Geld should be more than enough to deal with them. I will send them over once the battle's outcome is set in stone."

"Whoa, whoa, whoa! I want in on that action!" Suphia objected.

"Yeah, this is our land. We can't just leave it all to you, or Lord Carillon'll grill us up for dinner. Besides, I see someone who I've got a grudge to settle with." Phobio agreed.

"..." I clicked my tongue. "Alright. That's why you made me commander, after all. You deserve the chance to let off a bit of steam, but if you feel that you are in over your head, retreat. If you get arrogant, they will kill you, and I cannot allow that to happen."

"Understood. The rest is up to you, Sir Benimaru."

"Let's see how strong those bastards who tricked me really are!"

"I'll go with you. They'd better be damn strong. Kinda wish I could tangle with those Dragon Faithful guys, but whatever."

And with that, Alvis, Suphia, and Phobio blasted off.

'...'

'''Understood, (Sir) Benimaru.'''

(3rd POV)

"How!? How are the Three Lycanthropeers here?! Did they abandon their troops and come by themselves!? How?!" Yamza was panicking. By the time he even got a report about the battle, they had already lost so badly that regrouping felt like some sad joke. Even escaping felt like a coin flip, and he knew it.

Then, his lookouts all fell to the ground. Not even dead, just paralyzed, and nobody knew how. And he could see Alvis, the Golden Snakehorn, heading his way across the battlefield at a breakneck pace.

He knew instantly that there was only one option. He needed to escape. He had a fleeting thought about calling on Adalmann, the Wight King, back at Dhistv, but even if he wasn't cursed into never leaving the land he guarded, not even he had the power to turn a battle this one-sided around.

So, claiming that, Yamza immediately attempted to use his men as throwaway pawns and flee via a teleportation spell he knew. After all, he'd only sworn loyalty to Clayman for the perks. He had no desire to risk his life for the demon lord. Unfortunately, when he tried…

"Gah! It's not working! Some sort of Spatial Blockade?!"

That was Alvis's Unique Skill, Oppressor, at work. Basically it allowed her to control space to some extent. If someone tried to teleport in front of her, unless it was someone on a demon lord level, she could block it with ease.

Yamza was not a demon lord.

But he still had one last resort. He challenged her to a one-on-one duel.

Alvis was a Lycanthropeer. Her pride would never allow her to turn down a duel. So, she accepted.

In an instant, she had teleported in front of Yamza with Spatial Motion.

But that was what he'd expected. As soon as she disappeared, Yamza's remaining subordinates surrounded Alvis in a desperate kamikaze attack while Yamza tried to sneakily slip around for a shot at her back.

But just then…

"ROOOOAAR!"
