Chapter 83 - Ch. 83: Resurrection

(3rd POV)

'Report. The individual Rimuru Tempest's Harvest Festival has been completed. Monsters in his genealogy will now receive their gifts.' As the World Voice echoed throughout the plaza, in the minds of every single resident of Tempest, people began dropping like flies, falling asleep en masse.

Soon, the only ones still awake were Mjurran, the lycanthrope envoys from Eurazania, led by Grucieth, the three demons summoned during the battle, who had just returned from dealing with the former Falmuth king and the church's archbishop, and Benimaru, who was stubbornly, barely, keeping himself awake through sheer force of will. After all, he'd promised Rimuru that he'd be there.

Finally, as they watched, Rimuru stirred. The ball of slime transformed into a human form, walking directly forward until it was face-to-face with the Shion-less Shion body, kneeling on the ground in front of him.

Interestingly enough, Rimuru's human form was slightly different than it'd been before. Slightly older and slightly taller. His hair was longer, too, and a deeper shade of blue, close to purple.

He turned his head to Benimaru. "Report. Rest easy. I will handle it from here."

Despite the different way he spoke, Benimaru's brain understood that he had Rimuru's permission to sleep, and he dropped to the ground like a puppet with its strings cut.

"You're… not my master, are you?" The head of the demon trio asked the thing in Rimuru's body out of his own curiosity. Mjurran looked at him in shock, but Rimuru's body didn't show any surprise as it idly answered him, casting Analysis over the entire city as it did so.

"Answer. No. I am Isis, the ultimate skill that our master created to fulfill his wishes. Step back. I have work to do."

The demon smiled softly, "As you wish." Everyone took a step back from the plaza as Isis began its work.

"Report. By the name of Isis, Lord of Acumen, I command Belzebuth to consume all magicules within this space. Do not leave a single soul fragment behind." And suddenly, the air was clear of magicules, and the two barriers directly outside of the Domination Barrier that Risa had put up instantly vanished. Shortly after, Risa's Domination Barrier imploded as well, sucked into Belzebuth just the same.

The demon looked on in awe as Isis continued its work, generating soul orbs above each and every body, but immediately he noticed something. "Forgive my rudeness, Master, but it seems that you do not have enough magicules on hand."

Obviously. Rimuru didn't have enough energy on hand. He was literally performing the Secret Art of Revival, creating whole new souls for 75 majin at once. The only thing that could possibly require more power was literally raising the dead.

"Report. By utilizing Spirit Domination and a generous helping of energy via Aether, Lord of Bonds, the magicule amount that I have on hand can be raised to the required level with zero risk." Isis replied, not taking its eyes off of the task at hand. After all, if it messed up even a small bit, the art would fail and none of the resurrected would be anything like what they'd been before. Isis could never allow an error like that.

"U-understood, my lord. My apologies for doubting you."

And thus, every single casualty of the attack on Tempest was immediately resurrected, personalities intact, but bodies vastly stronger than they'd been before.

"Report. It is complete. Placing Master in sleep mode in order to regenerate the lost magicules quicker. Expected recovery time: Two days."

"Understood, my lord." The demon said, catching Rimuru's body as Isis left it, turning back into its original slime form. Gingerly, he placed it back on the pedestal, where it would sleep for the next two days.

(Rimuru POV)

"Sir Rimuru! I'm so happy you're awake!" Ahh. As soon as I woke up, before I even turned on a single skill, I knew that everything had worked.

How did I know that? The familiar sensation of Shion's chest against my body as she carried me. Unmistakable bliss.

"You're all alive again!"

"""We have all been revived, without a single missing person!""" 75 monsters kneeled in front of me, Gobta in front. Had they practiced that while I was out? How long had I been out for?

'Answer. Two days.' Huh. I'd expected three, like my usual exhaustion naps were.

"...Sir Rimuru. It's wonderful that you've awakened. Before we get down to business, though, I should confirm that nothing has gone awry with your mind, using the question and answer that we discussed."

"Oh, right. Hit me!" I replied.

"Okay. What do you think of Shion's cooking?"

Oh, no. Shion was literally holding me right now.

Was I going to die right after becoming a Demon Lord?
