Chapter 110 - Chapter 110: The Prisoner

"So, right now our situation is extremely bad." Light reflected off the lenses of her glasses as Hange arrived in Trost District and regrouped with Levi and the others.

Moblit stood behind Hange. After hesitating for a moment, he asked,

"Was it the Central Military Police who took Eren and Historia? What does the royal government want with them?"

Not only had the Central Military Police captured Eren and the others, they were now also slandering the Survey Corps, accusing them of harboring traitors who colluded with the Titans.

Levi leaned against the wall, eyelids drooping, and said flatly,

"Still not sure. That bastard's mouth is tough—no matter what kind of torture we use, he won't talk."

Hange clasped her hands in front of her.

"Erwin has a hypothesis, but it's only a hypothesis for now. What we need is verification. So, Levi, that prisoner is our breakthrough."

Levi: "Tch. Got it."

"As for your subordinates, I'm sorry. Aside from Kira, everyone else was killed." When Levi said this, guilt appeared on his usually indifferent face.

After rejoining Levi, Hange had already learned that three of her subordinates had died at the hands of the Central Military Police.

"They won't have died for nothing, Levi. We can't let the soldiers who gave their hearts for humanity grow cold."

...

On the other side.

"Mikasa! Calm down! You'll kill him like this!" Armin desperately held back Mikasa, who was in a state of blind rage.

Mikasa's fists were covered in blood. Don't misunderstand—it wasn't her own blood.

Driven by fury, Mikasa looked as if she had lost her reason.

"You bastards! Where did you take Eren?! Tell me!" she roared at the man tied to the chair in front of her.

The man's face was covered in blood. Both eyes were bruised black and blue, his hair a mess. When he opened his mouth, almost all his teeth were gone, knocked out, blood pouring freely.

His uniform was already in tatters, but it was still recognizable as the uniform worn by the Central Military Police that day.

That's right—the man was a prisoner. After being stabbed through the abdomen by Annie Leonhart and losing his ability to fight, he had been captured by the Survey Corps.

After the Survey Corps was forced to retreat, this prisoner—stabbed once, having fallen from midair and lost consciousness—was brought back with them. He was the Survey Corps' only breakthrough.

Unfortunately, this Central Military Police officer named Sannes had an extraordinarily strong will. Even when Levi and the others resorted to terrifying torture, they couldn't pry open Sannes's mouth.

Not even pulling out his fingernails one by one was enough to make him submit.

"Heh… hehehe… ptooey. You pieces of trash—don't even think about making me betray the king. Heh." Sannes twisted his face as he mocked the many Survey Corps soldiers before him.

When he saw Mikasa, Sannes's gaze flickered uncontrollably. This madwoman had snapped his fingers one by one, then set them back in place, then snapped them again, then set them back…

Even someone as resolute as Sannes had nearly broken. Fortunately, his faith in the king was even stronger, and in the end, he didn't let the Survey Corps succeed.

Thinking of this, Sannes opened his mouth—now with only a few good teeth left—and let out a silent sneer.

"Damn it!" Mikasa couldn't tolerate the provocation. She immediately tried to rush forward and kill the hateful bastard.

But Armin held her back with all his strength. Armin knew very well that they had no intelligence at all right now—this prisoner was the only one who might possibly reveal something.

"Mikasa, please calm down! If this guy dies, we won't be able to rescue Eren and Historia!"

Everyone else watched the scene unfold, not knowing what to say.

They could all feel Mikasa's feelings for Eren, but Sannes was truly impervious—there was simply nothing they could do.

Click. The door was pushed open, and Yago walked into the room. After taking in the situation, he went over to Annie Leonhart's side.

Yago was also a human who could turn into a Titan, just like Eren. At first, this fact had shocked everyone deeply.

But these days—Eren, Reiner, Bertholdt, Annie were Titans; now even Ymir and Yago were Titans. What's more, Reiner and the others were enemies of humanity.

Humanity built the walls to protect itself, yet Reiner and the others destroyed those walls, allowing Titans to ravage humanity.

After seeing so many companions who could become Titans, everyone gradually grew accustomed to Yago's ability to transform.

"Still hasn't said anything?" Yago asked Annie beside him.

Annie Leonhart shook her head, then tentatively asked,

"Do you want me to try Marley's interrogation methods?"

Yago smiled and refused.

"No, Annie. You're not a tool. Just be yourself."

"Sniff…" A very faint sobbing sound reached Yago's ears, drawing his attention.

Looking more closely, he realized it was Mikasa crying, her eyes red.

"Why… why do they have to take Eren away? Why?"

"Mikasa…" Armin looked at a loss, wanting to comfort her but not knowing how to begin.

Bang! The door burst open once more. Levi entered the room, with Hange and Moblit behind him.

"Oh? So this is the Central Military Police guy who won't talk?"

Hange leaned in next to Sannes, rubbing her chin.

"Are the Central Military Police all this tough? Guess I underestimated you."

Sannes: "Heh heh. Our faith in the king isn't something a rabble like you can shake. You want me to betray the king? Just kill me!"

Flash! A cold gleam shone. Levi's eyes sharpened as he pressed a blade to Sannes's neck, his tone dangerous.

"You think we don't dare?"

"Go on! If you've got the guts, kill me! I'm willing to give my life for the king!" Sannes looked like a dead pig that wasn't afraid of boiling water.

Levi clenched his teeth. He really wanted to kill this guy outright, but in the end, he held back.

He slammed a punch into Sannes.

"We have to get the intelligence as soon as possible. The longer this drags on, the more dangerous Eren and Historia's situation becomes." Hange understood the urgency.

Erwin needed this as well.

Just as everyone hesitated, Yago suddenly stepped in front of Sannes.

"Squad Leader, can I borrow your blade for a moment?"

Levi frowned, not knowing what Yago intended to do. But Yago's actions had proven he wasn't an enemy.

Levi handed the blade to Yago.

"Thanks," Yago said—and then slashed Sannes's arm.

Blood immediately welled from the cut. Everyone looked confused. Even pulling out fingernails couldn't make Sannes submit—what could a single wound do?

Yago sighed. "This might be a bit perverted, but it's the only thing I can try."

Yago extended a finger, dipped it into a smear of Sannes's blood, and then put it into his mouth.

At that sight, everyone—including Annie—was left staring in shock.

What on earth was he doing?!
