Chapter 15 - First Night

Ellie's POV

After we all gather what we need to build a fire, the twins get to work. By the time they are done we have just enough daylight to go fishing. We have some foods that we packed from home, mainly trail mix, granola bars, quick easy things if we are in a pinch but we will mostly eat off the land. My parents taught me from a young age how to find fruits and vegetables growing and what plants are safe and unsafe. They also taught me how to hunt and fish without using guns and fishing poles, saying this is how our ancestors learned to survive and we should never forget our roots because we never know if we will need these skills in the future. I am grateful for the knowledge even if I will never truly need it as a survival skill and more as just an adventure skill.

"Hey Angel, can you grab the net? I think I have a big one." Ash exclaims. I grab the net and the bucket we have to collect our catch and walk over as he's reeling in the fish.

The fish is putting up a fight and when he finally pulls it out of the water Alex and I burst into laughter.

"Oh my goddess!" *laugh* "That tiny thing is your 'big one'?" *laugh* "It can't be more than 4 pounds!" Alex cackles looking at the smallmouth bass Ash caught, earning a death glare from his twin.

"He was fighting hard! How was I supposed to know it would be so tiny." Ash huffs in response. He then zones out looking at Alex before Alex starts bursting out in laughter even more.

Man I wish I could communicate without any words as much as these two do. Must be a twin thing. I think to myself.

"Okay, okay. Just throw him back, he's clearly to young to eat." I say and we release the little guy back into the water.

It takes about an hour before we have a decent catch for the three of us to share and once we have enough fish we head back to camp. Alex preps them and I set them on the fire while Ash keeps the flames going. Once we had our fill, I let the guys know I am going to change into pjs, since we are sharing a tent I know they will give me the privacy I need as long as I inform them so they don't accidentally walk in while I'm in the middle of disrobing. Though the thought of that sends chills through me, I can only imagine how they would react. In my dreams they would devour me but in reality they would probably turn away in shame, possibly even disgust at seeing their best friend in such a state. Before I go down the rabbit hole of reasons as to why my two best friends will never see me as anything more than that, one of them clears their throat just outside the zipped door.

"Hey, sweetheart, are you decent yet?" Alex asks, probably wanting to change himself.

"Just a sec!" I rush out and finish changing into my shorts and long Supernatural tshirt. I purposely ordered it in an extra latge size so it would be loose and comfy to sleep in. The tshirt goes down to my thighs, fully covering the shorts, with one glance it might look like I'm not wearing any shorts at all and usually I wouldn't but since I am camping with my best friends I always make sure to have both bottoms and a top on. As soon as I'm dressed, I tuck the front of the shirt into the top of my shorts making sure they know I do in fact have shorts on and come out of the tent to let them get changed before we all get comfortable for the night.

"Damn Angel, you look good enough to eat." Ash teases as soon as I walk out causing me to blush.

"Har, Har. Very funny." I respond, "I know I look like a mess but I'm sorry I like to be comfortable when I sleep."

"Angel, I wasn't kidding, you don't look like a hot mess. You look like any guys wet dream with that big ass Tshirt. It's like you are wearing one of ours and its sexy as hell." Ash retorts.

"Seriously Sweetheart, where'd you get that tshirt? It's definitely NOT one of ours and you better not have a boyfriend you didn't tell us about." Alex bites.

I laugh, "Don't worry, I don't have a boyfriend, the cast of Supernatural was running a charity campaign and were selling these shirts so I bought it, I just went with a much larger size because I knew I would prefer to wear it to bed." Shaking my head, I turn to the dimining fire and state, "I'll sit over here until you guys are changed."

"No need Angel, We can all just crawl in bed now."

"Won't you feel better to put on pajama pants or something? I know you don't usually wear a shirt to bed but you still wear bottoms."

"If you want us to we will, but we usually just sleep in our boxers or briefs now Sweetheart, so it just requires us taking down our pants and crawling under the sleeping bag."

I swallow the lump in my throat at the imagery Alex just gave me and whisper "Okay."

"Ash, extinguish the fire tonight, while I get in bed first, I'll do it tomorrow." Alex commands.

"Aye, Aye captain." Ash jokes and gets to work.

Alex pulls me back into the tent and he sets me on the air mattress as he casually takes off his shirt and pants folding them into a pile and placing them in the corner of the tent. He then folds my clothes from earlier and places them on top of his making me chuckle. He's always had to have things neat and tidy. He then crawls onto the air mattress on my right, lifting the sleeping bag and tucking us both in. Not long after Ash comes and stips out of his clothes just throwing his clothes over to the corner where mine and Alex's clothes are and goes to jump in the bed before Alex grumbles about keeping the tent mess free.

"Dude it's not that big of a deal, I'll get them tomorrow." He challenges.

"Whatever," Alex huffs out clearly irritated that his twin does not share that same desire to keep everything neat and organized.

Once Asher climbs in on my left, I start to feel the heat of being sandwiched between two hot guys who just happen to be my best friends and though it should make me nervous and uncomfortable it doesn't, I feel at peace, safe and ready for the night to end. Sparks from them both laying their arms across my stomach serge through me as they cuddle closer to me and I find myself drifting off before I know it.

This, this is what heaven would feel like, together with my boys forever. Too bad they will never be more than my two best friends.
