Chapter 128 - Chapter 130 Aoki's Pardon

The "Path of the Demon King" offers three types of rewards.

Advancement in your profession, but no way to level up; gaining a new skill, but no skill points to learn it; receiving the opportunity for ultimate enhancement, but suffering from decision paralysis.

  "I'll add points first,"

Aoki thought, his gaze returning to the system.

  10 free attribute points.

Evenly distributed: 2 points each for Strength and Constitution, and 3 points each for Agility and Intelligence.

  Boom!

A powerful aura erupted, surging power flowing through his body. Aoki even felt as if he could shatter the heavens and earth with a single strike.

In reality, this was merely an illusion caused by a temporary increase in power.

  [Name: Aoki]

  [Strength: 28]

  [Constitution: 27]

  [Intelligence: 28]

  [Agility: 28]

[Occupation: Hunter, King of the Others, Martial Artist]

  ...

  [King of the Others]

  Quality: ★★☆

  Level: lv20 (0/2000)

Skills: Demon Blood VI, Space Travel II, Transparent World II, Devouring Demons II, Soul Impact (Not yet learned)

  Nearly all attributes 28 points.

  Aoki showed a satisfied expression.

If he were to fight Muzan Kibutsuji now, Muzan definitely wouldn't last that long.

After confirming that there were no other omissions, Aoki closed the system and looked out the window.

Unbeknownst to him, it was already dawn.

Knock knock knock. A knock sounded at the door.

Aoki opened the door and immediately showed a surprised expression.

  "Miss Tamayo?"

Tamayo took off her sun hat, smiling. "It feels so good to walk in the sunlight."

"Only when we obtain the Blue Spider Lily and develop a medicine to overcome sunlight will we be able to truly stand in the sun." Aoki led Miss Tamayo into the house.

Having worn a sun hat for so long, he knew very well that walking in the sunlight while wearing one was not a pleasant experience.

Surrounded by deadly sunlight, it felt like walking a tightrope thousands of feet in the air with only a safety rope.

Although there was no danger unless something went wrong, the fear would linger in his heart.

Tamayo said, "Mr. Aoki, let's go for a walk."

  "Okay... Huh?"

Aoki instinctively wanted to agree, but realized the problem halfway through his sentence.

"Mr. Aoki has overcome the sunlight, hasn't he?" Tamayo looked at Aoki and said slowly.

Although it was a question, her tone was very certain, not at all like a guess.

Aoki was silent for a moment, then nodded frankly: "How did you find out, Ms. Tamayo?"

Tamayo smiled: "It was because of the blood that Mr. Aoki gave me.

Compared with the blood of ordinary demons, it was as if it came from a different species.

Based on previous research, I guessed that the owner of the blood had most likely overcome the sunlight.

Who else could it be but Mr. Aoki?

If it were any other demon, Muzan Kibutsuji would probably have gone mad, and he wouldn't have been there last night."

"I didn't expect that I would give myself away."

Aoki sighed, looking at Ms. Tamayo, hesitant to speak.

Now, has her reason to live disappeared again?

Tamayo seemed to see through Aoki's thoughts, smiled elegantly, and said, "Actually, I came here today to talk to Mr. Aoki about this."

Aoki seemed thoughtful; the situation didn't seem so bad after all.

Tamayo put on her sun hat. "Mr. Aoki, let's go outside and talk as we walk."

"Okay." Aoki nodded and followed her out of the room.

The bright sunlight streamed in, making him feel warm all over.

As November arrived, the weather grew increasingly cold, and warm days like today became fewer and fewer.

"Perhaps even the gods are happy to see Muzan defeated!" Ms. Tamayo chuckled.

Her words, though unintentional, resonated with Aoki.

  A thought struck him.

  Gods?

Do gods exist in this world?

He and Kagaya Ubuyashiki had discussed this question. Kagaya believed in the existence of gods, but had never witnessed a divine manifestation, nor had he ever heard of gods directly interfering in human affairs.

The two walked a few steps, stopping at the cherry blossom tree inscribed with "Victory," but unfortunately, it wasn't blooming season; it was just a bare tree.

Tamayo looked at Aoki and said, "Don't worry, Mr. Aoki, I won't commit suicide. Why die when I can live?"

  Aoki frowned slightly.

  That sounded even more problematic!

Tamayo's expression turned serious. "I'm not just placating you, Mr. Aomura. Although my wish has been fulfilled, I would have no regrets even if I died now.

However, I haven't repaid the debt I owe Mr. Aoki. I'll consider suicide when Mr. Aoki no longer needs me."

She paused, then added, "If I really wanted to commit suicide, I wouldn't be here today."

  Aoki nodded.

  Indeed.

For a demon, suicide is very simple; just stand in the sunlight.

Ms. Tamayo's arrival wearing a sun hat clearly indicated her stance.

"Ms. Tamayo, although I have overcome the sunlight, I do have something very important that I need your help with. The matter of the Blue Spider Lily is not a lie." Tamayo

  nodded gently.

"Mr. Aoki's defeat of Muzan Kibutsuji is a great favor to me, like a second life. Please feel free to ask for anything."

  Aoki had a slight headache.

Although Ms. Tamayo seemed perfectly fine, she was actually immersed in severe negativity.

She gave the impression that living was more painful than dying.

If it weren't for repaying her debt, she might have already committed suicide.

  This wouldn't do.

Saving someone had become like harming them.

Moreover, his work efficiency would be difficult to guarantee in this state.

However, he wasn't good at comforting people, and this was simply putting him in a difficult position.

  Aoki carefully considered his words.

"Ms. Tamayo, regarding your husband and child, although I don't know the details, I know they would want you to look forward and not dwell on the past."

Tamayo's eyes flickered, and she pursed her lips.

  "Thank you, Mr. Aoki."

Aoki continued, "As for the others you killed, I've decided to pardon you!"

  Tamayo was stunned.

  "What? Don't I deserve this?"

Aoki smiled, "In terms of strength, I am the strongest in the world. I could change the world single-handedly.

In terms of merit, although I was mainly acting for myself, objectively speaking, I was the main force that defeated Muzan Kibutsuji.

Isn't that enough to atone for Ms. Tamayo's crimes?"

  "I..."

  Tamayo stared at him blankly.

  "Besides,"

Aoki continued, "Ms. Tamayo made a significant contribution in killing Muzan Kibutsuji.

  Therefore,

Ms. Tamayo, from now on, you can let go of all your guilt and remorse, and live with your head held high." Tamayo

remained silent for a long time, then smiled broadly: "Then don't I owe Mr. Aoki even more favors? I feel like I can never repay them."

"Then be prepared to work for me for free forever!" Aoki said.

He didn't know if his persuasion had worked.

But it didn't matter;they could take their time.
