I kept my hand extended to the child. While Mano was dealing with the others, I remained focused on the child in front of me. The little girl slowly crawled out of the cage and pressed against me. I held her and stood up, cradling her in my arms. I looked back, and that's when I saw Scarlet through the flames. She saw me holding a child. Scarlet looked confused. Shrieks sounded from below, and the demons got out and were making their way up. Scarlet went another direction. I handed the girl to Mano and rushed towards the sound of demons. If those things get out, who fucking knows what will happen.
I ran the entire way, then I saw demons coming ahead of me. I slid to a complete stop. I took a stance to fight until the demons stopped in front of me, letting out a growl, and just looked down at me, like they could see or smell something on me that wasn't correct. I looked at them, my brows furrowed. One came close; this fox demon steed came closer, sniffing me. I looked at them, confused. Why did they stop like that?
"Crystal," one demon spoke in a distorted voice, looking me over. I froze. I hadn't told many about my blessing, let alone meeting with any demons, or telling them. Crystal even said she couldn't contact other demons anywhere. I couldn't understand what was happening. "You carry her blessing."
"How do you know that?" I asked.
"She saved us, our ancestors, from extinction," the demon said again. I was confused.
"Then do you know about Phoenix?" I asked. The demon's head rose.
"Phoenix carries the curse." The demon began. "If her mate comes in contact, the curse will hurt them both, worse than the first time."
My eyes widened. Crystal didn't know; this had to be why Phoenix didn't want to let Crystal know who she was connected to, to protect Crystal. The demons didn't move, but stayed locked on me. After a moment, I shook my head.
"Go, find a safe place to hide for now," I told them, moving to head to the rooftop, knowing that the perv with red and yellow hair is up there with a dragon. The demons busted through the veil to get out. And I jumped my way up flights of stairs till I found the broken window. Scarlet went out. I leaped up from there, and OH. MY. GOD. that perverted mother fucker was holding Scarlet's leg high.
"GET OFF MY BEST FRIEND!!!" I screamed at him, coating my fists in thick ice, and bashed him on his upper back, knocking him into the roof. I heeved, looking at the man in the cracked rooftop. My fists encased in thick ice. Scarlet went after the old man, I can't remember his name. Then came two voices that made me freeze.
"Gia!" My father's voice came from behind me along with my mother's voice. I looked over, and my parents were standing there. My father looked deathly angered, and my mother looked petrified.
"Hi, mom and dad," I said with a nervous laugh. I knew I was going to have a say explaining why I lied to my parents. And it's not gonna be pretty.
