Chapter 90 - Ep 90

Night settled over the Hawk Clan like a held breath.

The inner territory was quiet, too quiet—no patrol chatter, no rustle of wings. Only the low crackle of barrier flames and the whisper of wind sliding across stone.

Inside a shallow cave carved into the cliffside, Lin Yue sat near the entrance, peeling fruit slowly. The golden light within him had dimmed for the night, his body finally demanding rest after the day's strain.

Feng Lihan stood nearby, gaze fixed on the darkness beyond the cave.

Something felt wrong.

The wind wasn't moving naturally.

It circled. Paused. Shifted—like it was avoiding something.

Mo Shan noticed it too.

His fingers tightened around the hilt of his blade as his eyes narrowed, scanning the forest below. Years of exile had honed his instincts into something sharp and unforgiving.

"We're being watched," Mo Shan said quietly.

Feng Lihan didn't answer at first.

Then he nodded. "Yes."

Lin Yue looked up. "What?"

Feng Lihan turned to him, expression calm, almost casual. "We'll be right back. You've used too much energy today."

Mo Shan played along instantly. "Stay here. We'll bring you some fruit from deeper in the forest—the kind you like."

Lin Yue frowned. "At this hour?"

Feng Lihan smiled faintly. "Trust us."

Reluctantly, Lin Yue nodded.

The two men exchanged a single look—brief, wordless, perfectly understood.

Then they stepped out of the cave.

They didn't head toward the Hawk Clan paths.

Instead, they moved deliberately toward the forest.

From a distant ridge, three figures in dark, scale-patterned robes watched them go.

"They took the bait," one of the Snake Clan observers whispered.

"Maintain distance," another warned. "Do not engage."

They followed silently, weaving through shadows, suppressing their aura completely.

But as the forest deepened, something shifted.

The wind changed direction.

Suddenly—

A pressure slammed down from above.

Before any of them could react, a wall of compressed wind crashed into their formation, pinning them to the ground. Flames ignited instantly around their limbs, sealing escape routes with precise, controlled heat.

"Too slow," Feng Lihan said coldly, stepping out from the darkness.

Mo Shan emerged behind them.

His eyes were burning.

With a violent motion, he wrenched one observer up by the collar and slammed him into a tree. The bark cracked under the impact.

"Who sent you?" Mo Shan growled.

The three Snake Clan members were dragged swiftly through the forest, bound by wind and fire, their concealment techniques shattered completely.

They were taken to a desolate clearing far from any patrol routes.

Mo Shan threw them to the ground.

"Now," he said, voice trembling with restrained fury. "Explain."

The observers exchanged glances. One of them laughed nervously. "We—we were only watching."

Mo Shan froze.

That voice.

That insignia.

Recognition hit like a blade through his chest.

Snake Clan.

The same clan.

The one that had branded him traitor.

The one that had stripped him of his name and cast him into exile.

His breathing grew heavy.

"You," Mo Shan said slowly, stepping forward. "You dare show your faces in front of me?"

The observer's eyes widened. "Mo… Mo Shan?"

Fear replaced arrogance instantly.

"You were exiled," another stammered. "We thought—"

"Thought I was dead?" Mo Shan roared.

Demonic fury surged from him, cracking the ground beneath his feet.

"And now," he continued, voice shaking with rage, "you crawl here like snakes, spying on the Hawk Clan—on Lin Yue?"

The mention of Lin Yue made Feng Lihan's killing intent spike.

"You want to take him too," Feng Lihan said quietly. "Just like you took everything from him."

The observers shook violently. "We were ordered only to observe! The golden life-element—everyone knows now. The clans are watching!"

Mo Shan laughed.

It was bitter.

Broken.

"So the world has finally noticed," he said. "And you chose him as your next prize."

His blade slid halfway from its sheath.

Feng Lihan raised a hand—not to stop him, but to steady the moment.

"Not here," Feng Lihan said. "Not yet."

Mo Shan's grip trembled.

Then, slowly, he forced the blade back.

But his eyes never left the Snake Clan members.

"You will return," Mo Shan said softly. "And you will tell your clan exactly what you saw tonight."

He leaned closer, voice like ice.

"And if any of you come near Lin Yue again—

I won't exile you."

The forest fell silent.

And far away, beneath the unaware stars, Lin Yue waited—

unknowing that the first threads of a much larger hunt had already tightened around him.
