Chapter 9 - Chapter 9: What was that?

Siya woke up with a piercing scream.

"George!"

Her voice echoed through the room as tears streamed down her face. She was shaking uncontrollably, her breath uneven, her chest aching as if something had been ripped out of her.

Andy and Ali rushed toward her at once.

"Siya, you're awake," Andy said urgently. "Why are you crying? What happened? Why hasn't George woken up yet? Will it take him more time?"

But Siya couldn't answer. Her sobs grew louder.

Ali knelt beside her, placing a steady hand on her shoulder. "Calm down, Siya. Please. Drink some water first. Try to breathe."

Slowly, her cries softened into broken breaths. Between sobs, she whispered words that froze both of them.

"I… I lost him," she said. "I couldn't bring him back with me. Please… forgive me."

Andy and Ali stared at her in shock. For a moment, neither of them could speak.

"No… that's not possible," Andy murmured. "How can this be? He said he'd come back. He can't just leave us like this."

"Yes, he can," Siya said hoarsely, her eyes burning with pain. "And I can't leave him there. I won't. I have to go back. I have to save him."

"He's trapped there!" siya said desperately. "Then I'll come too!" Andy replied

Before either of them could move, Ali stood up and grabbed Siya firmly, making her sit back down. His voice was calm but sharp.

"Don't be foolish, Siya. Don't ignore the truth. You know you can't bring him back now."

Andy turned on him angrily. "Why not? Siya came back, didn't she? Then George can too!"

Ali took a deep breath. "You're forgetting something. Siya is a super human. And we are. We weren't created like her. We don't have subconscious realms the way she does. We can enter hers—but no one can enter ours. George is now part of Siya's memories."

Andy's fists clenched. "Then we'll find him there."

Ali shook his head slowly. "To bring him out, we would need to connect with him directly. And that's impossible. We don't have that power."

The truth settled heavily in the room.

George was gone.

Siya broke down again, completely inconsolable. Ali pulled her into a tight embrace.

"Boss," he said softly, his voice filled with loyalty and grief, "we are with you. Don't let George's sacrifice go to waste."

Ali hesitated, then spoke again. "He told me… if he didn't come back, you must not blame yourself. You have to save the world. That's why your return was necessary. He didn't care about himself. He only wanted to protect you—and everyone else."

Those words stayed with her.

Later that night, Siya's eyes were swollen with tears. She stood up quietly and went into a room in the recovery wing. Exhaustion pulled her down, and the moment she lay on the bed, sleep claimed her. Andy gently covered her with a blanket before leaving silently.

Then—

A voice echoed in her ears.

"Find him."

George's smiling face appeared before her eyes.

"Who should I find, George?" she whispered.

He vanished.

Siya jolted awake, drenched in sweat, her heart racing. "George!" she cried out.

Her mind raced with questions. Who was he talking about? What was he trying to tell me?

"I need to find out," she whispered. "I have to listen to my inner voice."

She closed her eyes and slipped into a meditative state.

Darkness surrounded her.

The silence was so deep it felt alive. Even the faintest sound echoed endlessly. A bone-chilling wind brushed past her, carrying a heavy, suffocating feeling.

She moved forward slowly.

Then she heard it—deep breathing.

Chains clinked and dragged across the ground, their metallic sound slicing through the silence.

Her gaze fell on a container placed in the darkness.

Something was written on it.

Siya froze.

Just as she took a step closer—

A voice spoke.

And in that moment, Siya realized—

Whatever this was… it wasn't meant to be found so easily.
