Chapter 17: The Shadow Shield and the Headless Horseman
The Dullahan attacked like a black beam on his fiery horse. His great dragon-bone sword cut through everything. Volt raised his new elf sword, but his golden energy still wasn't settled properly.
Volt: "Damn... why doesn't he come out? The power I learned from the Queen... where?!"
Volt was about to break under the weight of the rider's blows. The ground slipped beneath his feet, and the knight raised his sword for the final blow.
Sakuna's unique power: "Soul Connection"
At that tender moment, Sakuna cried out inside Said. His voice was like thunder.
Sakuna: "Sai! If we stop now, everything will be over! I will give you a new power that no human has ever endured. It's called 'Shadow of the Exiled Gods'. This is not just energy, this is part of my existence.
Sai: "Do it, Sakuna! Do it whatever!"
Suddenly, a dark red and black mist exploded from Sai's body. The marks on Sai's face stretched to his chest and hands. Behind Sai, as if there appeared a large shadow of Sakuna with four hands.
Protection of the king
Sai jumped so fast that no one saw him. The second the knight's sword was about to cross Volt's head, Sai grabbed the greatsword with his bare hands!
Volt: (surprised) "Sai?! You.
Sai said in a fiery voice that was a mixture of his own and Sakuna's, "Volt... Focus! I'm here, I won't let anyone reach you. Awaken the power inside you!"
With Sakuna's strength, Sai pushed the headless rider back on his horse. Every blow from the cavalryman that hit Sai made Sai not move. He had become a living shield. "Sai, bear with me! Your body is burning, but we have to buy Volt time!"
The first ray of the king
Volt, when he saw how Sai sacrificed himself for him, tears came to his eyes. He felt embarrassed that he still couldn't help her. At that moment, the "knot" inside his heart was opened.
Volt: "Enough... I won't let Sai suffer anymore!"
Suddenly, the golden energy he had learned in Chapter 15 turned to a shiny white and gold. Volt's sword began to waver. Volt took a single step to Sai's side.
Volt: "Sai, thanks. Now it's my turn.
End of the chapter: The meeting of shadow and light
Volt attacked with his shining sword and Sai with Sakuna's dark power. The headless knight was turning to ashes between the two forces (King's Light and Sakuna's Shadow).
When the knight was destroyed, the key to the gate of Lucifer's castle fell to the ground. Sai fell to his knees in exhaustion and the red power gradually disappeared. "We did, Sai… see? That boy… he's a true king," Sakuna said in a muffled, tired voice inside her.
Volt took Sai's hand and they walked towards the castle gate. A black castle with Lucifer waiting for them on the top.
