Chapter 10 - Chapter 10 — Worldwide Chaos

The classroom instantly erupted into chaos.

Desks rattled as students stood up, their faces pale with disbelief.

The middle-aged teacher with a receding hairline tried to maintain order, raising his voice above the noise. "Students, calm down! This class will end here for now. I'll contact the school administration immediately to find out what's happening."

With that, he hurriedly left the room, his footsteps echoing down the corridor.

Inside the classroom, confusion turned into panic.

Students clustered around the sleeping boy whose body had turned translucent, their phones flashing as they snapped pictures and recorded videos. The room buzzed with frantic whispers.

Social media feeds lit up within seconds, and photos, hashtags, and wild theories began to spread online.

Qin Xiaoyou and her best friend, Chu Yan, stayed seated at their desks, scrolling rapidly through their phones. Neither spoke for a long moment until Qin Xiaoyou frowned slightly.

"It's not just here," she murmured. "It seems this is happening all over the world. Especially in countries where it's night, anyone who falls asleep turns into that… translucent state."

Chu Yan's expression tensed. "What's going on? I need to call my parents."

She glanced at Qin Xiaoyou. "Little You, aren't you going to ask your brother if he's okay?"

Qin Xiaoyou's tone went cold. "I won't contact him first."

Chu Yan sighed softly, worry etched into her features. "With something like this happening, does family conflict even matter right now?"

Qin Xiaoyou gave a light, mocking laugh. "Family? He only knows how to control me. That's not family. Unless he apologises, I don't care what happens to him. Besides, what Family? He's just an adopted brother"

If Qin Feng could see her now, he'd probably find it ironic.

In his past life, Qin Xiaoyou had been exactly the same: stubborn, proud, unwilling to yield even a step.

She hadn't called him. She hadn't replied to his messages. Even when he called her countless times, she ignored them all.

It wasn't until evening that Qin Feng, exhausted and desperate, went to her university in person, apologised, and brought her home like a fragile treasure. That night, the two of them had entered the God Forsaken Game together.

But this life… was completely different.

While Qin Xiaoyou still refused to contact him. Qin Feng, reborn, resolute, colder than ever, had no reason to reach out. In his eyes, the sister he once protected and cherished no longer existed.

Because the moment she gouged out his eyes in his past life, their bond had already been severed forever. Thus, A different future began to unfold, a future where many things would be different.

Many things.....

Meanwhile, the strange phenomenon continued to spread worldwide.

One after another, reports poured in. People who fell asleep would enter that same ethereal, translucent state, their bodies left behind like hollow shells.

Governments moved swiftly. Official statements flooded every platform: "The cause remains unknown. Please avoid sleeping as much as possible until further notice. Experts are conducting urgent research."

But as the hours passed, a grim realisation settled in. Not a single person who had fallen asleep had woken up.

And no one could explain why.

In the Land Abandoned by Gods, the other side of that mysterious phenomenon, the world was already in motion.

In the many towns scattered across the vast dark landscape, players who had fallen asleep in the real world had begun forming parties and venturing out to hunt monsters.

"To leave the God Forsaken Game the first time," someone explained, "You have to reach Level 3."

Inside the shadowed forest, Qin Feng moved like a phantom. He'd been farming monsters tirelessly since killing the Bronze-grade Breeder.

Levelling in this world was brutally difficult, even more so when going solo. Players in teams gained experience more safely but had to split the rewards, including lifespan. No matter what they did, progress was painfully slow.

It wasn't until twenty minutes after Qin Feng had triggered the first system notification that other players finally reached Level 2; an elite Hidden-Class team led by someone with the codename Wang Meng.

Six people levelled up at once, taking the 2nd to 7th positions on the Shell Town leaderboard.

Meanwhile, the blonde youth who had gathered dozens of players together for safety soon discovered an unpleasant truth. When too many people grouped up, no monsters dared approach.

Even from afar, the creatures would turn and flee at the sight of a crowd.

So, while the blonde youth's massive team explored confidently, they gained nothing, not experience, not lifespan, not loot. The only benefit was that they slowly mapped out the terrain around Shell Town.

In contrast, Qin Feng's kill count continued to rise. He moved silently through the trees, his dagger flashing like lightning in the dark.

"Finally… three Evolution Points."

He exhaled softly, eyes lighting up as the system prompt appeared after he finished off a Level 1 Crawler.

Moments earlier, he'd slaughtered the remaining spiderlings from the Breeder's nest, twelve of them in total, and all that effort had only given him two points, one of which came from Greedy Hand.

It was clear that earning Evolution Points from small monsters was painfully inefficient.

Only BOSS-level creatures truly rewarded evolution.

Still, Qin Feng kept hunting. He eliminated five more Crawlers in quick succession, his movements precise and deadly.

The fifth one finally gave him another point.

"I can evolve now."

He opened his attribute panel, focused his will, and began the process.

[You have consumed 3 Evolution Points, 0 remaining.][Greedy Hand (Gold → Platinum): Assassin Skill. Can be used on monster corpses; 70% → 110% chance to obtain an additional loot reward.]

Qin Feng's eyes glimmered.

A 110% success rate, beyond the limit of certainty.

In the God Forsaken Game, probabilities above 100% still took effect, meaning he now had a guaranteed chance for double loot and an additional 10% chance for triple loot.

He grinned faintly. "Excellent."

Testing the newly evolved skill, Qin Feng cast Greedy Hand on the Crawler's corpse before him.

[Skill 'Greedy Hand' judgment successful!][You gained 1 Evolution Point!][You gained 1 Evolution Point!][You gained 3 days of lifespan (tradable).][You gained 3 days of lifespan (tradable).]

Both bonuses triggered. Two points and double lifespan.

"Unstoppable…" Qin Feng muttered under his breath. He didn't spend the new points immediately.

"Evolving the same skill a fourth time costs five points, not four. So the requirement isn't linear…" he thought. "I'll figure out the pattern later."

At this point, he lacked neither power nor stealth. Even facing another Bronze BOSS, he could fight on equal ground.

For now, his focus was on growth, and Greedy Hand was the perfect tool for that. He quickly checked his status window.

"146 days of tradable lifespan." He muttered, "But extracting equipment or skills into reality will require at least 900 days, two and a half years, and I still need to reach Level 10."

Remaining invisible, Qin Feng slipped silently through the forest once more. After a few minutes, the faint sounds of battle reached his ears.

He moved closer, eyes narrowing, and then his lips curved upward.

In the clearing ahead stood another Bronze-grade BOSS, a Level 2 monster.

[Swift Runner (Lv2)][Grade: Bronze]

It was a six-limbed humanoid, its skin grey and rotted, its mouth gaping with needle-like teeth. The creature crawled rapidly across the ground, faster than any normal player could run, at least twice as fast.

New players unlucky enough to encounter it would have no hope of escape.

As for defeating it?

That would be even harder than killing the Breeder.
