Lucian's eyes firstly widened then they peered at Rowan's face carefully, studying every detail; the tight set of his jaw, the darkness in his usually sharp ocean-blue eyes, the way his shoulders were rigid obviously with tension despite trying to appear composed.
Lucian could see it clearly... The cold CEO was running from something serious.
Something that had shaken him so deeply that he didn't even want to stay in a hotel- a man who had access to every luxury accommodation in the city was asking to stay in Lucian's tiny, probably shabby apartment compared to the Donovan's standard.
And God, Lucian was so glad that Rowan was running to him.
That out of everyone, out of all the options Rowan had, he had chosen him.
"Yes, I live alone." Lucian said softly, answering Rowan's first question.
Then, before Rowan could say anything else, Lucian's hand tightened around Rowan's, firm but gentle, grounding and reassuring.
"Come on, let's go." Lucian murmured.
