And she knew what that meant.

It meant she was finally letting him go.

It meant Brandon Hughes no longer mattered.

Yet sitting in the same car as him still made her feel nauseated, as if the air itself had been contaminated.

Brandon Hughes's lips curled into a faint smile, the kind of smile that only appeared when he had achieved his goal.

However, before that satisfaction could even settle on his face, he saw her expression.

She didn't look at him.

Not even once.

Her brows were knitted tightly, her eyes full of cold disgust, as if he was nothing but an unpleasant stain.

Then she spoke again, her voice calm but sharp like a knife. "If it's possible, don't drive yet. I'll sit in the back."

Those words struck him harder than any slap.

For a moment, Brandon Hughes's fingers tightened around the steering wheel.

The passenger seat…

That seat had once been her territory.
