Charles stared at the phone in horror.
His soul almost left his body.
Isabella stopped in front of him, tilting her head slightly. "What's wrong? Why do you look so pale? Did Mr. Steele say something?"
Charles's face was so white he looked like he had been drained of blood. Yet he still forced out a smile, a smile so stiff it was practically a mask.
"It's… nothing," he said hoarsely. "Nothing at all."
In his heart, he was already calculating escape routes.
He couldn't go home. Absolutely not. If his mother found out, she'd tie him up and personally deliver him to the Luciano Family as an apology gift. He couldn't go back to his apartment either. The Steele family's network could pull him out of any corner like plucking a hair off a coat.
He had only one option.
He would go hide at Kevin's place.
That bastard deserved to suffer with him.
