Mary gathered his clothes from the bathroom, planning to wash and hang them later in the space. Ryan owned very little beyond his work clothes. His family had never cared much for him. If not for his looks and position, he would have been married off long ago.
She frowned slightly, resolving to find him better clothes later. He treated her well; aside from cooking, she felt she hadn't done enough for him.
It was almost eleven. She started preparing food, thinking he would be back by noon. The thought of him stirred a quiet longing. With the washed clothes in hand, she entered the space.
Meanwhile, Andrew checked the time and left, warning Vanessa not to look for him again unless necessary. As for the telegram, he would handle it in a few days.
Vanessa watched him go, convinced her chance was finally coming.
Doctor Matthew returned earlier than usual, intending to fetch lunch. Seeing the sign on the clinic door unsettled him. He clearly remembered checking it in the morning.
