Inside Li Ming's private study, the faint, haunting fragrance of Osmanthus tea drifted through the chilled air. Adisorn stepped across the thick woven carpet and came to a halt before the Chairman's desk. He meticulously placed a black leather dossier down, as if positioning a pivotal chess piece that would alter the entire course of the game.
"KCC's energy infrastructure has reached a crossroads, Chairman. It is time for a decisive choice," Adisorn began, his voice a low, respectful baritone, yet his eyes glinted with razor-sharp intensity. He slid the folder forward with a slow, deliberate finger. "Between the Hydrogen Valley and the Super Hub... both projects compete for the same foundations within KCC."
Li Ming listened in silence, leaning back slightly in his chair. His eyes, weathered by a lifetime of corporate warfare, narrowed as he scrutinized the man before him, looking for the truths hidden between the lines of the documents.
"Have you weighed the options, sir... as to who is truly worthy?" Adisorn held his gaze.
The Chairman exhaled softly, leaning forward to clasp his hands on the desk. "It's a difficult position. Both plans promise immense benefits for the CK Group. I am loath to discard either opportunity."
Adisorn allowed a faint smirk to touch the corner of his lips. "But no matter who wins, you are the ultimate beneficiary, sir."
Li Ming let out a chuckle, amused by the blunt truth masked in flattery. He tossed a probing question back. "And what do you think?"
Adisorn stood with a cool smile, stepping slightly closer to the desk. "If it were my counsel... I would propose that you withhold the final land allocation for now. Let the leaders of both factions demonstrate their full potential to prove who truly deserves that territory. I suggest we hold a Visionary Debate."
Li Ming stared at Adisorn, searching for even a fragment of bias in those eyes. "You're suggesting I let a competition decide?" The Chairman's lip curled into a small smile. "But it is a sound idea. I find it difficult to choose between them myself. A debate would be the fairest metric."
"Exactly, Chairman," Adisorn bowed calmly. He lowered his voice to a near whisper as he pivoted to a more fragile subject. "However, during this critical transition... I see a significant problem brewing. It concerns President Mi Ling."
Li Ming's brow furrowed, and he tilted his head, testing the younger man. "You mean Lu Rong, her father?"
"Precisely," Adisorn nodded slowly. "Lu Rong possesses deep-rooted influence and connections within CK Group that go back decades. If he feels his daughter's role is being diminished during the KCC and CLS merger, he could create 'undercurrents' that threaten your stability at any moment."
Li Ming narrowed his eyes. Internal politics were the one thing that truly kept him awake at night.
"And how do you suggest we handle this?" the Chairman asked, his gaze alight with interest.
"You should grant her a new title," Adisorn smiled a smile that revealed nothing of his true intent. "I propose you appoint Ms. Mi Ling as the Director of Planning and Resource Control."
Li Ming stroked his chin thoughtfully. "Such a significant position... can she handle that kind of weight on her own?"
"The purpose of this position... isn't to give her absolute decision-making power," Adisorn presented the sophisticated angle. "It is a move to ensure that Lu Rong's 'organism' within the company does not act out during this precarious time. Trading a title for the prevention of a major internal rebellion... seems a worthy bargain, does it not?"
Li Ming nodded slowly, locking eyes with Adisorn, who looked every bit the grand strategist with the world in his palm. "Fine... in this transitional phase, I don't want the buzzing of flies and gnats distracting me either."
Though his words signaled agreement, a newfound sense of caution multiplied within the Chairman's heart. He stared at Adisorn with a deep, hidden dread. This young man approached everyone with a smile glazed in mutual benefit but beneath that smile lay a pitfall so deep its bottom could not be seen.
