Chapter 49 - A Bluff in the Shadow of the Throne

Yong Chang stepped into the grand lobby of Away Logistics, a Thai shipping titan fortified with rigorous security. He ascended to the 10th floor, where he was met by a polished executive assistant in a crisp white suit.

"Mr. Chatchawin is expecting you."

The massive doors swung open to reveal a sprawling office that epitomized minimalist luxury. The silence was so absolute that Yong Chang could hear his own heartbeat. A tall figure in a sharp brown suit stood with his back to the door, gazing out at the Bangkok skyline like a grandmaster surveying a chessboard.

Yong Chang bowed slightly. "Good morning, Mr. Chatchawin."

The man turned slowly. Sunlight glinted off the dark lenses of his sunglasses, masking his eyes and leaving his handsome face an unreadable mask of stone. This was Chatchawin—the shadow sovereign overseeing Adisorn's covert operations.

Chatchawin gestured toward an expensive leather sofa. "Sit."

He reclined, crossing his legs with a terrifyingly calm grace, before sliding a document across the table. "The proposal I sent to CK Group two weeks ago... why is there still no official response?"

His voice was a level monotone, yet it carried the weight of a crushing hydraulic press. "I believe I made it clear: this deal is not for negotiation. It is only for acceptance or refusal."

Yong Chang swallowed hard, his back slick with sweat beneath his designer suit. "My sincerest apologies, Mr. Chatchawin. CK Group is currently undergoing an internal restructuring. Major decisions are being vetted by a new advisory committee..."

He flashed a cunning smile, desperate to buy time. "Furthermore, the exclusivity clauses regarding personnel and routes are delicate. Some board members fear a loss of management control. But rest assured, I am pushing your proposal with everything I have."

Chatchawin stared, as if looking right through the mask Yong Chang was wearing. "Delay... always has a price. And I am not a man gifted with much patience."

Yong Chang immediately pivoted to a counter-offer. "To compensate for the wait, I propose a middle ground. Instead of full exclusivity, we could start with 'Last Mile' logistics and specialized personnel. In exchange, CK Group gets unconditional access to your ports and warehouses for the first 12 months. Does that sound fair?"

Chatchawin leaned back and let out a dry, mocking chuckle. "A fine attempt at 'borrowing a sword to kill another.' You intend to use my business as a bridge to your own success, only to kick it away once you find a new ally, don't you?"

The bluntness of the remark hit like a razor blade. Yong Chang's hands shook; he balled them into fists to hide the tremor. Chatchawin leaned in close, his hidden gaze boring into the very depths of Yong Chang's soul.

"Go back and tell your Chairman... either walk my path, or play outside the rules where I cannot guarantee your safety. This is the last time I offer you grace." Chatchawin gestured toward the door. "Now leave. I have work to do."

The "Prince of Logistics" rose and bowed, suppressed rage simmering beneath his skin as he stormed out of the office.

Chatchawin stood alone in the silence. His phone chimed. A message from Rosé.

"Confirmed. Yong Chang has not reported his meeting with you to the CK Board. He is stalling to set up his own logistics nominee company in Thailand. His visit to you was merely a feint to buy time."

Chatchawin narrowed his eyes, setting the phone down with chilling composure. A cold, predatory smile spread across his face. "A mole in the house... the more he eats, the faster the CK Group crumbles."

He looked back out the window, envisioning a future where he stood atop the ruins—the new titan of multinational energy and logistics.
