The following morning, Raymond finally decided to return to the office.
For the past few days, he had barely stepped foot inside Grey Enterprise. Ever since Lena had discovered the truth about her father, he had chosen to remain by her side instead.
He knew how deeply the revelation had hurt her.
Several times, Lena had insisted on going to confront Mr. Smith personally, but Raymond stopped her every single time.
"Don't," he would say gently, holding her hand. "Leave it to me. I'll handle everything."
"But I need answers," Lena had argued.
"And you'll get them," Raymond assured her. "Just not like this."
Although she reluctantly agreed, Raymond knew she was still struggling to process everything.
Before leaving for work that morning, he kissed her forehead and smiled.
"Why don't you go shopping with Sylvia today?" he suggested. "Get out of the house for a while. It'll help clear your mind."
Lena hesitated."I'm not really in the mood."
