Chapter Sixty-Five: Paranormal Realm 63
"People are interesting," he said simply. "Most of them, anyway."
We walked slowly along the path that ran between the garden and the tree line. The Silver Moon territory was beautiful in the way places were when they had been cared for over a long time. It had that settled quality, not manicured exactly, just tended. Like the land knew it was looked after.
"How are you actually doing?" I asked.
"Better than last week," he said.
"That's vague."
"It's accurate."
"Maxx."
"I'm fine, Rowan. I promise. I've been thinking a lot. Processing. That's what I do, I think until I know what to do with a thing, and I'm not there yet but I'm closer than I was."
I looked at him sideways. "And when you get there?"
"Then I'll tell you."
"And if you need to talk before that?"
"Then I'll call you."
"At any time."
"At any reasonable. . ."
"Any time," I said firmly.
He looked at me. "Okay. Any time."
