Vael took one very small, very subtle step backward, which he would have denied if asked.
Lucian moved to the window. His study overlooked the eastern gardens, which were beautiful in the way that things maintained by an immortal with unlimited time and resources tended to be. Perfect. Controlled. A little lifeless, if he was being honest with himself.
He had been standing at various windows in this mansion for one hundred and twelve years.
He was incredibly tired of his own gardens.
"I want to know everything about him," Lucian said. "His habits. His history. Where he goes. Who he speaks to. What he looks like when he thinks nobody is watching." He paused. "And I want it discreetly. No more restaurant incidents. No more borrowed warriors making noise and alerting every wolf pack on the continent."
"Of course, my lord." Vael made a note. "And your intentions are?"
