Chapter Forty-Nine – Paranormal Realm 47
The next morning started with a knock on my bedroom door.
I was still in bed, staring at the ceiling and trying to convince myself to get up, when Mom poked her head in.
"Rowan, honey? Alpha Matteo is here. He wants to talk to you."
My stomach immediately tied itself into knots. "Now?"
"Now."
Great. Just great.
I dragged myself out of bed, pulled on some actual clothes instead of pajamas, and made my way downstairs.
Alpha Matteo was sitting in the living room with my parents, a cup of coffee in his hands. He looked up when I entered, his ancient eyes assessing me in that way that made me feel like he could see right through me.
"Rowan," he greeted. "Good morning."
"Morning, Alpha," I replied, sitting down on the couch across from him.
Mom and Dad were both there, flanking me like bodyguards. I appreciated it, but it also made me more nervous. Whatever this conversation was about, it was serious.
