Chapter Forty-Three – Paranormal Realm 41
The afternoon was doing that lazy thing it always did around this time of year. Sunlight was everywhere, streaming through the tall trees around the house, making patterns on the walls through the windows. It wasn't too hot, wasn't too cold, just that perfect kind of warm where you could actually breathe without feeling like the air was sitting on your chest. The whole place smelled like earth and pine, the way it always did after lunch when the day had settled into itself.
Inside though? Inside was a different story.
I was lying on my bed, one arm thrown over my face because honestly, I didn't have the energy to do much else. Maxx, on the other hand, was pacing. Back and forth, back and forth across my room like he was trying to wear a groove into the floorboards. The wood creaked under his feet every time he turned, and I could practically hear his brain working overtime.
