FINN MERTENS
"Are we there yet?", Cake groaned slowly stretching her now enlarged feline body slightly.
"Nope not yet!", Marshall Lee responded.
I sat back deeper into the chair, while looking at the blurry valleys. We were on our way to the zone of monsters, of course due to the danger, we were accompanied by Huntress Wizards squad and Fiona's squad.
We've been on the air ship for what felt like hours, my conversation with Huntress Wizard eventually died off, Jake had shrunk himself and slept off on my head, Fiona had fallen asleep on top of Cake, Sweet pea was no different.
Marshall Lee piloted the ship with BMO helping the navigation with his enhancements and Gunther just stood in a corner, quacking, all while having ballistic missiles strapped onto him, which to be honest, made me uneasy.
All I could think about was Princess Bubblegum and Marceline, something didn't feel right. PB was too smart to be killed off in the actual bang that is the merge, and Marceline was far too strong for that.
I know Yaeger is with them and if he dared to hurt them, he would pay, I'll make sure of it.
"Chin up Finn, we're almost there too".
I glanced down at BMO grinning at me from my prosthetic arm and I cooled down.
After a few more minutes we landed on a Rocky Mountain range, the ship was slightly lopsided from the uneven terrain.
The sky had been covered around this area by heaps of clouds, "You good??", Huntress Wizard questioned as we disembarked the ship.
"Yeah, im great…just great".
By the time we all made our way outside, Marshall Lee began a briefing. "So the monsters are right behind these mountains, that's why I had to land so far away. We'll have to infiltrate the mountain where all these beasts are, if you can slip through without being noticed? Then great, if not? Then don't let any monsters overwhelm you".
"Monsters have become far more aggressive and powerful since the merge so these aren't going to be as run of the mill".
"There's a high tendency that there's something really important in the mountain, so if possible, don't wreck everywhere. We'll split up now, I, Fiona, Cake and Gunther will go from the right side, while the rest of you go through the left".
"All understood??".
After a resounding yes, we split up and began walking to the huge mountain, "Hey Finn, there's something I wanted to ask about".
"Yeah Sweet Pea what may that be??".
"I've been having some bad dreams, like really bad".
"Is it…".
"Yeah the litch".
I looked at Sweetpea not trying to mask the worry in my heart, Tree Trunks and Mr. Pig haven't been found and honestly, I wasn't sure how he was holding up.
"It's alright Sweetpea, he can't get to you…especially while I'm still here".
Although I'm not too sure about that, who knows how the merge affected the litch, he could be ten times as strong.
My gaze focused on Jake who had all his pups found, an almost impossible probability then my eyes shifted to something off the far corner. In one swift motion, I decapitated the giant beast before many could even react.
"We need to be more alert guys", I said while swinging away the blood from my blade.
"Hmmm, how much stronger did you get Finn?". Sweetpea asked.
"Me…", I had never thought I got stronger, perhaps more savage but I don't know about stronger.
"Who knows??", I answered nonchalantly.
Eventually we made it near the base of the mountain, taking out a few monsters on our way.
"Okay i have a plan i think would be perfect but also kinda risky", Huntress Wizard said.
"Let's hear it".
"So if you three can hold off these monsters or reduce the amount they are, I can use some magic and slip into the mountain".
"That's a great idea, we should be strong enough", Jake chimed.
"Yeah I agree".
"Okay good, gimme your hands".
Huntress shut her eyes performed a short incantation then opened them again.
"I'm now invinsible but I've made it so only you three can see me, the only downside is if I get touched by anyone or I attack, I lose it so I'll have to be heavily covered".
Although we couldn't see how Marshall Lee's squad was doing, I trusted they would have gone with the safer approach.
After a few more notes of agreement we charged down the gargantuan mountain, killing off oncoming beasts with relative ease, i slash down the middle at one, then decapitating the rest with a sense of cold assurance.
The tangy smell of rotting blood chocked the air along with dark blood spilling from the hideous creatures. The sound of breaking bone, tearing of flesh and clanking of metal riddled the atmosphere.
I saw Huntress Wizard weaving her way up the mountain with relative ease when one of the monsters almost collided with her.
Twisting my body sharply, I cut through an oncoming beast before darting to help her, that's when things got bad.
The mountain began to rumble, like a massive earthquake was happening at that very second, i managed to catch a falling Huntress Wizard before she hit anything.
All the monsters began to roar, screech and howl, the ones with wings quickly took flight while the ones without wings began crawling away completely leaving us.
There were even some grotesque ones with missing arms, legs or even their intestines hanging out but they didn't dare stay, that's when a sense of dread washed over me.
"Let's head back!", Jake bellowed.
The earthquake became worse by the second, chasms formed left right and centre then the ground under us broke apart, the mountain shattering into dozens of large debris.
My vision blurred as I and the rest of my team fell into a forming crater, the light kept getting smaller and small till I couldn't see anything at all.
