"Captain HYDRA?"

At the Siberian base—the birthplace of mutant evolution—Lancelot consciously witnessed something that should have been impossible: Steve Rogers, the American Captain who was supposed to be frozen in ice.

But in this era, the Captain of America had become Captain HYDRA—one of HYDRA's supreme leaders, commanding the organization's Siberian headquarters.

Yet Lancelot had little interest in this HYDRA Captain himself.

What truly caught his attention was the person communicating with him.

As his power continued to expand, Lancelot's soul followed the flow of the network and locked onto Captain HYDRA's presence. Tracing the encrypted communication channel upward, his consciousness traveled further—

—and revealed a fascinating scene.

In Hawaii, a muscular man dressed in the Stars and Stripes sat calmly on a bench, enjoying the scenery while holding a "ten-minute conversation" with the HYDRA Captain.

"Captain America, Steve Rogers. So it's him."

Lancelot understood instantly.

The moment he saw the second Captain, the cause and effect became clear.

This Steve Rogers was clearly from the future timeline of Avengers: Endgame.

According to that timeline, after defeating Thanos, Captain America was tasked with returning the Infinity Stones.

But after completing that mission, the future Steve Rogers did not return to his own time. Instead, he chose to remain in the past, honoring his promise to Peggy Carter.

"As expected… in the Marvel Universe, the future version of Captain America is unavoidable."

Lancelot shook his head lightly and withdrew his consciousness.

The appearance of a future Captain America meant the timeline had already been disrupted.

In the past, Lancelot might have been powerless before fate.

But now—armed with the Eye of the Future—he could peer directly into what lay ahead.

"Eye of the Future."

Countless images flickered within Lancelot's crimson pupils.

At that moment, it felt as though he had obtained a god's perspective.

The fog-shrouded future gradually revealed its true form.

Year 2023.

Xavier's School for Gifted Youngsters, New York.

Five elite mutants gathered together—Professor X, Magneto, Kitty Pryde, Wolverine (Logan), Sunspot, Bishop, and others.

Lancelot frowned slightly.

Among all those future mutants, he saw neither himself nor any trace of the Mutant Evolution House.

Pulling his vision higher, he looked down upon the entire city.

New York was in ruins.

Above the shattered skyline, countless Sentinels roamed freely, hunting without restraint.

"We should leave. We should follow our King."

Inside Xavier's School, an elderly Level-Five mutant glared at Professor X, his voice filled with suppressed fury.

"Eric… it's too late," Professor X said bitterly.

"Our King will not return."

"Then who is this 'King' you keep talking about?" Kitty Pryde asked. As a mutant of the new generation, she knew of no such figure.

"My King—Lancelot—was the King of Mutants. He once led our people to create a glorious homeland of evolution."

"But due to an accident, my King—and the great Evolution Family—were transported into the depths of the cosmos, lost within endless space."

A trace of remembrance flashed through Professor X's eyes.

"So… what do we do now, Charles?" Magneto asked softly, forcing a bitter smile.

"There is no other choice," Professor X said despairingly from his wheelchair.

"We must use Kitty Pryde's ability… and send Logan back to the past."

"Professor, the Sentinels are here!"

As soon as the decision to reverse the future was made, space portals opened. Mutants flickered into view across the battlefield.

"Prepare for combat," Professor X ordered immediately.

The war began.

Watching the future unfold, Lancelot frowned.

He focused on a single Sentinel and activated his ocular power.

Hmph.

His soul surged upstream, piercing future spacetime and attaching itself to the Sentinel.

For a single instant, Lancelot felt he had partial control over its future.

Then—

The connection shattered.

One second was all he was granted.

His soul returned to his body, and the future vision vanished.

"So… I failed."

Lancelot sighed quietly. His original plan had been to directly control future Sentinels using precognition and the Eye of the Future.

But time and space were too unstable.

One second was the limit.

"Perhaps… when Kitty Pryde opens the temporal corridor, I can send my soul through it."

From what he had seen, the future reversal would still occur as destined.

And notably—he did not exist within that future timeline.

Which meant only one thing:

This future was merely a branching timeline.

"Then all we need to do now… is wait patiently."

A faint smile appeared on Lancelot's lips as his body slowly floated into the air.

"While there's still time… let's go meet Captain HYDRA."

Golden energy wrapped around his body as he shot into the sky.

Across the Siberian icefields, a streak of golden light tore through the heavens.

Minutes later, Lancelot hovered above the HYDRA base, staring down at the thick layers of ice.

He raised his right hand.

A blinding beam of light descended.

BOOM—!

The ice shattered instantly, exposing the base beneath.

"Captain HYDRA… are you really not coming to see me?"

"My eyes are upon you now."

His voice echoed directly throughout HYDRA Base 3.7.

"Captain… what should we do?"

Dr. Zola trembled in fear. Months ago, he had already heard rumors of the Mutant Evolution House—and knew exactly how terrifying it was.

"Lancelot… one of the many variables of the future."

Inside the base, Steve Rogers—Captain HYDRA—stood solemnly.

Through his future self, he already knew what lay ahead.

After being awakened, Steve Rogers had dedicated himself to protecting the future from change.

Without hesitation, he activated his greatest weapon—

His calendar ability.

"Any variable of the future…"

"Must be strangled in the cradle."
