Chapter 13 - Chapter 13

And soon enough, three months was in a singular day.

Three months of this living arrangement, which meant they had two months left per the five months bet they had. But in all honesty, does that bet even matter anymore? After all, they were practically together now, even if they haven't said it in words. In the mornings he woke up next to her, and at night he slept next to her, that is if they got any sleep at all on some nights.

She wasn't here today. She had to go meet up with her uncle, leaving him alone in the house for the first time in a while. It was weird. It was also scary.

He was scared he would wake up from this dream. This mundane life he was currently living was extremely pleasant after all. It was a nice day out, the sky was clear and the sun was beaming down. His cup of coffee finished brewing as he dumped creamer into it.

It reminded him of his first time ever trying coffee. He wondered how would his past self feel knowing he was technically engaged to the princess of Valor.

He smiled because he already knew how he would react. He probably would have said it would be a hassle or something of the such. He wouldn't exactly be wrong, yet still he wouldn't have it any other way.

His mind drifted to someone else extremely close to his heart, perhaps even closer than Morgan is to his heart. Though in a completely different way.

He sat down on the porch of his house, looking through the newspaper. How long has it been since he's done this? Now that he's thought about it, all the events with Morgan were anything but mundane. Something like this was quite mundane though! He imagined himself as a retired awakened wh-

His cup dropped from his hand, shattering into pieces as it fell onto the ground. The scolding hot liquid inside landing on him, yet he couldn't help but ignore it. After all, the headline for this newspaper was something that made his head spin.

"Lady Morgan of valor.. Set to marry promising house of night member.."

What..?

---

She arrived to the Valor manor. She can't say she missed this place or hated being back. It was more of an indifference that washed over her. But if she was asked if she had to choose one, then she would choose hate. Not because of bad memories, despite there being plenty. But rather it's because she has a place she much rather be.

She walked through the vast halls, members who's names she forced herself to remember greeting her. In a split second she let go of all of that information. She wouldn't need it anymore after all.

By the time she reached the end of the hall, a grand corridor stood in front of her. It just screamed luxury. It was also the room she would meet her uncle and the current leader of Valor, Madoc.

At the edge of the long table he sat, his chin resting on his folded hands.

Pulling out a chair, she sat at the opposite end. Food was brought to them as if they were royalty. Which technically, they could be considered to be royalty.

Madoc cut into the steak on his plate. How generic can you get? Still, she followed his lead. The meal went on in complete silence before he spoke.

"That little stunt you pulled cost you and Valor a whole lot your know."

She took the napkin, dabbing her mouth while nodding her head.

"You currently have zero credits to your name, and all your assets were turned into credits only to be drained once more.. those assets belonged to Valor."

She covered the smile on her face with the napkin. It was a little petty, but it was nice seeing a blow done even if it was small and insignificant in the grand scheme of things.

He sighed, sending a sharp glare towards her way.

"It seems you aren't taking this very seriously."

He reached from under the desk before grabbing a bag, that bag being full of letters. He threw the bag in the air, letting the letters fly down all over the room.. dramatic much.

"All of those letters are from high ranking Valor members. That loss of assets hurt them quite a bit. It also hurt Valor as a whole quite a bit due to many of those assets being joint owned with the house of night."

She rolled her eye's, waving one of the letters she picked up before speaking for the first time she entered the manor.

"One month of selling memories will make up all that loss. I don't know why you geezers are overreacting."

Madoc looked at her. His gaze softened before a sad look appeared in his eyes.

"You've changed a lot you know.. ever since starting a relationship with that boy."

He slid a singular letter down the table before speaking once more.

"The problem isn't the loss of assets, but rather the current strained relationship with the house of night.. and in order to fix it, an unanimous vote was casted to connect the two clans through marriage.. you shall marry a house of night member."

As the three months came to an end..

"What..?"

A new problem arose.
