Chapter 35 - chapter 34

"Hahaha! I thought it was someone important—turns out it's just a kid!"

Xiong Ge laughed loudly, flexing his thick arms. "I wonder if he can even withstand one of my attacks?"

"I doubt it," Sato said coldly, leaning against a tree with his arms crossed.

Canbao raised his hand to silence them. He studied Ye Qiu with interest, then glanced at the bandages on Zhu Zhuqing's injured leg.

Pointing at her, he asked, "Kid, did you save her?"

"That's right." Ye Qiu replied calmly. "What? Got a problem with that?"

Clap. Clap.

"Heh… you've got guts," Canbao sneered. "I don't object—but it seems you're partly responsible for my brothers' deaths."

"So?" Ye Qiu casually picked at his ear.

"So I have no choice but to take your life!"

Canbao's soul power surged as anger flared in his eyes.

"No!"

A trembling voice sounded behind him.

"Oh?" Canbao turned coldly. "What orders do you have, Second Miss?"

"Haha! Big Brother, she's probably trying to beg for that kid!"

Xiong Di yanked her hair upward.

Tears streaming down her face, Zhu Zhuqing pleaded, "As long as… as long as you let him go, I'll do whatever you want!"

After speaking, she seemed completely drained. She closed her eyes in despair as tears slid down her cheeks.

"Heh! I wonder what His Highness the Third Prince would think if he saw this," Canbao mocked.

Then his gaze locked onto Ye Qiu, filled with killing intent.

"I can't accept that. If he dies, you'll be ours too. None of you will escape."

He had clearly decided—Ye Qiu would die.

Listening to their conversation, Ye Qiu finally understood who they were.

He never expected that the girl he saved was Zhu Zhuqing.

Since she was willing to throw away her dignity to save his life, there was nothing left to say.

"Don't worry," Ye Qiu smiled at her. "I'll save you."

In the next instant, blood-red light filled his eyes.

"Xiong Di, keep playing. Xiong Ge, go finish him off!"

Canbao waved his hand impatiently.

Xiong Ge charged forward, laughing. "Little brother, don't finish too fast!"

Ignoring Xiong Di's hands, Zhu Zhuqing shouted, "Run!"

Ye Qiu obeyed—but instead of retreating, he ran toward Xiong Ge.

"Looking for death! Second Soul Skill—Exploding Bear Paw!"

Flames burst from Xiong Ge's palm as he slammed downward.

Ye Qiu stepped forward.

The three tomoe in his eyes transformed into a six-pointed star.

Pop!

Everyone except Xiong Di froze in shock.

"What?!"

Xiong Ge's attack passed straight through Ye Qiu's body.

Ye Qiu dashed straight toward Zhu Zhuqing!

"Little brother, watch out!" Xiong Ge roared.

Canbao snapped back to reality. "Xiong Di, be careful! This kid is strange!"

"What—?"

Before Xiong Di could react, Ye Qiu was already in front of him.

Under the illusion, Xiong Di froze.

Whoosh!

A hidden arrow pierced his throat.

Pfft!

Blood sprayed across Zhu Zhuqing's face.

She stared at Ye Qiu in disbelief.

How… how did he do that?

Xiong Di collapsed to the ground, eyes wide with confusion.

Ye Qiu pulled Zhu Zhuqing into his arms.

"Brother!" Xiong Ge roared.

Everything had happened too fast.

"Sato, attack!" Canbao shouted furiously.

"First and Second Soul Skills—Demonic Vine Extension and Hardening!"

Vines shot forward like spears.

Canbao activated his Speed Soul Skill and lunged.

"Watch out!" Zhu Zhuqing cried.

Ye Qiu turned, his eyes glowing. A tiger and a bull appeared behind him.

Pfft!

The attacks struck the summoned corpses instead.

Using the opening, Ye Qiu retreated to a safe distance.

"What kind of monster is this kid?" Canbao muttered darkly.

"Give me my brother's life!"

Xiong Ge, blinded by rage, charged forward.

Third Soul Skill—Mighty Charge!

"Sato, pull him back!"

But it was too late.

Ye Qiu closed his left eye.

"Divine Power."

Xiong Ge didn't even slow down.

Then—

Thud!

His neck exploded mid-charge.

The corpse collapsed at Ye Qiu's feet.

"Ah!"

Zhu Zhuqing screamed, clutching Ye Qiu tightly.

Blood covered Ye Qiu's face, dripping onto her shoulder.

"How… how did his neck suddenly break?" Sato whispered in terror.

Canbao's expression turned grave.

He didn't know either.

Ye Qiu hadn't used a single visible soul skill.

"So noisy…"

Ye Qiu's face was covered in blood and bits of flesh. His bloodshot eyes turned toward Zhu Zhuqing, frightening her into silence.

Looking at the corpses lying on the ground, Ye Qiu felt a mix of unease and agitation.

"Hehe… who's next?"

He gave the remaining two a bloodthirsty, demonic smile. Amidst the crimson, only his teeth remained white.

"Damn it!"

Canbao lived a life of constant danger—how dare this kid look down on him! One by one? He wasn't stupid!

"Sato! Cover us from behind!"

"I know, Brother!"

Upon receiving the response, the leopard immediately activated his martial soul and charged at Ye Qiu.

Leopard patterns spread across his body, and four spirit rings—white, yellow, yellow, and purple—pulsed beneath him.

Ye Qiu's expression hardened. This man was not easy to deal with. He would have to use some tricks…

He quietly activated the divine power in his left eye.

An invisible attack?!

The leopard suddenly felt a sharp pain in his neck and instantly activated his Second Soul Skill—Dash! He narrowly avoided the attack and charged again.

At the same time, the vines controlled by Sato stabbed toward Ye Qiu from all directions.

"Don't resist," Ye Qiu said softly to Zhu Zhuqing after his first attack failed.

"Mm…"

A vortex appeared, and Zhu Zhuqing vanished before everyone's eyes.

Gone!

The leopard's pupils shrank. What just happened?!

"Forget it! Fourth Soul Skill—Soul-Hooking Ghost Claw! Die!"

At this point, it was either kill or be killed.

"Third Soul Skill—Death Coil!" Sato followed up, attempting to restrain Ye Qiu.

However—

The attacks passed straight through Ye Qiu!

Cold sweat poured down the leopard's face as shock filled his eyes.

Boom!

Vines and claws swept through Ye Qiu's body like brushing against torn cotton, encountering no resistance at all.

Crack!

The leopard's sharp claws tore through Sato's vines.

Watching Ye Qiu pass through him and disappear, Canbao's heart skipped a beat. This scene felt disturbingly familiar.

"Sato! Watch out!" He shouted while forcibly stopping himself and rushing back toward Sato.

"come on!" Sato desperately controlled the vines, but every attack passed straight through Ye Qiu's body—Kamui rendered them useless!

Whoosh!

A sharp arrow shot toward Sato's throat.

Clang!

The leopard barely arrived in time, knocking the arrow away with a single claw.

Ye Qiu glanced at Sato and smiled faintly before retreating.

"Kid, how about we end this here?" Canbao said grimly, trying to negotiate.

"No good." Ye Qiu shook his head calmly. "Letting you live would only cause trouble."

"Do you really want to go this far? Then let's fight to the death!"

"Fight to the death?" Ye Qiu laughed mockingly. "You dare say that?"

His cruel smile deepened.

"Your soul power is almost depleted, isn't it?"

Under the Sharingan's gaze, everything was exposed.

"Two against one—we still have a chance!" Canbao said, secretly trying to recover his soul power.

"Two against one?" Ye Qiu clicked his tongue. "Wrong."

"It's you who's facing two against one."

"What do you mean—"

Pfft!

Before Canbao could finish speaking, a sharp pain exploded in his chest.

He stared down in disbelief as a hardened vine pierced straight through his heart.

"See?" Ye Qiu pointed calmly. "That's what I mean."

"Sato… you—!"

Canbao turned around unwillingly, unable to understand why his brother had betrayed him.

Pfft!

The vine tore free, spraying blood everywhere.

With a stunned expression frozen on his face, Canbao collapsed to the ground—dead.

Sato stood motionless, like a puppet.

"Controlling a Soul Master won't work… but a Soul Venerable is still possible."

Ye Qiu touched his slightly swollen eyes.

"End your own life."

Sato trembled, his face twisted in resistance.

"So you sensed the danger?" Ye Qiu frowned. "The illusion wasn't deep enough…"

In that case, he had no choice.

Thud!

Just as the hidden arrow pierced Sato's throat, his consciousness briefly returned.

He looked around blankly.

When did his brother…?

Why was he so tired…?

Thud.

His body fell to the ground, blooming into a vivid flower of blood.

"Hoo…"

The thick stench of blood made Ye Qiu dizzy.

The Great Horned Bull—originally meant to be lunch but turned into an accidental shield—was retrieved.

A vortex appeared, and Ye Qiu disappeared.

Inside the Divine Might Space, Zhu Zhuqing lay motionless on the cold ground. The empty space filled her with fear.

Fortunately, a patch of Blue Silver Grass gently swayed beside her.

"I wonder how he is…" she murmured softly.

"It's over."

Ye Qiu suddenly appeared beside her.

"Ah!" She startled. "Are you… are you okay?"

He raised an eyebrow. "Do I look injured?"

"Your face is covered in blood… I—I couldn't tell…"

"Hm. Your face is covered in blood too. And there's a handprint. Looks like I'll have to apply medicine again."

She turned her head away, blushing silently.

Ye Qiu squatted down and lifted her up.

"Thank you… thank you for saving me again," she said softly.

"You're welcome. I was quite moved that you were willing to trade your innocence for my life."

"Is that all…?" Zhu Zhuqing looked at him, oddly dissatisfied.

"Otherwise what? Because you're pretty?" Ye Qiu raised an eyebrow.

Their eyes met. She quickly looked away.

"Where is this place?" she asked, noticing the endless stone platforms.

"Don't ask questions you shouldn't."

There was a reason he hadn't brought her here earlier.

"…Sorry."

"Fine."

A vortex appeared again, and Ye Qiu brought her to a living area.

After setting her down, he washed his face with water from a large vat.

Zhu Zhuqing noticed something strange—he had no soul tools. Everything he used came from this place.

After cleaning up, Ye Qiu sat beside her and gently wiped her face.

"Miss… won't you reintroduce yourself?"

"I—I'm Zhu Zhuqing, from the Zhu family of the Star Luo Empire. My martial soul is the Netherworld Cat. Level 20, one-ring Soul Master… I'm sorry for lying to you."

"I understand. You were being chased."

The towel brushed against her cracked lip.

"Hiss…"

"What level are you?" she asked. "You defeated Soul Masters—and even Soul Venerables!"

"Same as you. Level 20."

"That's impossible!"

"It's the truth."

During their conversation, Ye Qiu treated her injuries thoroughly.

His gaze lingered briefly.

She's my age… but she's developed fast.

"Ye Qiu, shut up!" Zhu Zhuqing snapped, her face burning red.

"Don't look…"

Her breathing grew heavy, her reactions stronger than she expected.
