The scene shifted from the suffocating gloom of the Armitage estate to the crisp, crystalline air of the Swiss Alps. Beside an infinity pool that seemed to spill directly into the snow-capped horizon, Enock and Mileh sat in plush loungers, sipping drinks that cost more than Mild's monthly rent.
Mileh was a vision of sharp, dangerous elegance. Her oversized sunglasses hid eyes that were currently fixed on a digital dossier of the Armitage family's recent movements.
"I still don't get it," Enock said, leaning back and watching the steam rise from the heated pool. "What is it about Arm that has you so infatuated? Beyond that handsome, 'Ice King' face, the guy is a tactical nightmare and a social void."
Mileh tilted her head, a predatory smile touching her lips. "It's exactly that, Enock. He's a challenge. He's a fortress that hasn't been breached. There's a power in being the only one allowed inside."
