The tension following the poolside confrontation didn't dissipate; it merely moved into the cramped confines of the apartment. Mild sat on the edge of the bed, finally back in his own clothes, trying to find his voice.
"I spoke to Enock," Mild said, breaking the silence. "He said Mileh is returning to St. Jude's next semester."
Arm's expression didn't shift from its mask of cold indifference. "Mileh? She's a relic of a life I've already moved past."
"It looks like the Queen still wants to win your heart," Mild said, watching Arm closely. "How are you going to react when she's back in the hallways? I've seen her photos, Arm. She's... she is breathtaking. I don't understand how anyone could refuse someone like her. If it were me, I don't think I could resist."
