Chapter 99 - Chapter 99 :Gestational Truths

Yugh, unable to process the words, slumped forward, his forehead pressing against the cold table as if the world had tilted off its axis. "How is that possible...?" he muttered into the wood, a man unmoored. 😖

A heavy silence filled the room before Anisa found her voice, thin and trembling. "Officer, are you absolutely certain about this? There's no chance of a mistake?"

"I am one hundred percent certain, Mrs. Malik. You are welcome to review the report yourself," the officer replied, his tone leaving no room for doubt. 💯

Anisa reached for the file, her hands unsteady. She flipped it open. At the top was Zahra's autopsy report. Her eyes scanned down and locked onto the damning lines:

📌 ADDITIONAL FINDINGS:

Examination of the uterus revealed an early intrauterine pregnancy, estimated at approximately 10 weeks gestation. 🤰

📌 The decedent was determined to be pregnant at the time of death.

"Did you know about this, Mr. Singh?" the officer asked gently. 🔉

"No. I didn't..." Yugh's voice was a hollow rasp. His mind raced, sifting through memories. He recalled a morning, days before the accident, Zahra abruptly leaving the breakfast table to be sick. He remembered her withdrawing from him around that time, a distance he had attributed to their growing emotional rift. He had said nothing then, and he said nothing now.

Without another word, Yugh pushed himself up from the chair and walked out of the station, a statue of silent shock. Anisa followed soon after, the weight of the new revelation pressing down on her. She now held Zayan's autopsy report; Yugh held Zahra's. The separate documents were bound by a single, devastating secret. 🗞

Returning home, Anisa could think of nothing else. The pieces of the tragedy, the cut brake lines, the secret relationship, the financial entanglement, were now overshadowed by this most intimate and heartbreaking detail: a life that had barely begun, extinguished alongside the two people whose complex, hidden bond had created it. The mystery of their deaths had deepened, twisting into an even darker and more sorrowful knot. 📍
