Chapter 13 - The fetus killed for the ritual #2

A few hours ago, Aldo had just dropped her off. Now, she was in her dimly lit room. Laras sat at her desk, her sightless eyes facing directly toward the window.

The vision she had received earlier kept her thoughts in a loop. The house she saw was the only question. It wasn't a modern house; it was old, built of wood.

For as long as she had known him, Laras had never once seen Aldo's father. But that vision provided a single answer. Was that Mustachioed man Aldo's father?

Laras assumed that perhaps their relationship was not approved because Aldo's parents already knew—knew that Laras was sensitive to the supernatural. They likely feared that the old secrets they were trying to hide would be uncovered.

"As far as I know, a Kuyang eats a fetus when it's four months old. But that baby just arrived and was newly born. So, what exactly did the Kuyang eat?" Laras muttered to herself in the silence.

The room might have seemed empty, with her as the only breathing, living being. But in reality, at the corner of her room stood a black figure with long claws.

It was the entity that was always there, the one that followed Laras everywhere, guarding her. The creature growled as it watched her.

This warrior spirit was unable to speak. If it liked something, it would remain silent and watch. However, if it sensed something strange, it would growl.

Laras heard the sound, but she didn't flinch. She remained still, pondering everything related to Aldo.

Finally, she reached for her phone. It was a unique device, not a touchscreen like most modern phones, but one that still used physical buttons.

Inside, there were only phone numbers of people Laras knew personally. She pressed the number three, and the contact "Cak Dika" appeared clearly.

Who else could be a supernatural alternative for Laras to contact besides him? Cak Dika, the eldest shaman of the Gautama family.

In moments like these, the right solution for Laras was her own family: Cak Dika, Rachel, and Marsya. The call rang for quite a while, forcing Laras to redial several times.

"Hello!" Cak Dika's voice answered from the other end.

"Hello, Cak!" Laras replied.

"Oh, Laras! What's up? It's rare for you to call me," Cak Dika said cheerfully.

Laras could hear other voices in the background—the voices of two women.

"Wow, it seems like you're quite popular these days, Cak?" Laras teased.

"Popular, my foot! I'm at Rachel and Marsya's house. I'm about to go out and look for patients with them soon. Do you want to come along?" Cak Dika asked.

"No, thanks! Let's get straight to the point, Cak. I'm having a problem. Can you come here? I need your skills! Please, come over!" Laras pleaded.

"What's going on?" he asked again.

"I'll tell you everything once you and Rachel get here!" Laras replied.

She heard Cak Dika let out a long sigh. He eventually agreed to her request. The distance between their cities was quite far, likely taking about one or two hours of travel.

That night's agreement between Laras and Cak Dika brought Rachel's group to wander into another city. This time, their patient was Laras, their own relative.

The next morning, when Rachel's group was seated on the train, Cak Dika, who was sitting next to Rachel, began taking something out of his bag.

Rachel happened to be sitting beside Cak Dika, though they were in different seats, separated by the aisle where people passed through the train.

Rachel sat with Marsya. Marsya was currently busy playing with Barend, who sat on a passenger seat. The two of them had become quite close. Even though Barend liked Rachel's aura, he spoke to Marsya more often.

"Is it good, Dek?" Cak Dika said to Bella, who was sitting next to him.

Bella only glanced at him briefly before returning her gaze to the window. The scenery outside was indeed beautiful.

"What is that flag for?" Rachel asked him.

With great delight, Cak Dika showed it off to Rachel, putting it on display. Once again, Rachel was shocked by this man.

Printed on the flag was the name: Gautama Family – Young Psychics. Below it, there was smaller text that was still legible. It said they were ready to handle all kinds of patient complaints.

"Cak, come on! We aren't medical experts!" Rachel said to him.

"We can treat them without even touching them!" Cak Dika replied proudly.

"Enough, Rachel. Don't pay any attention to this guy!" Bella said, popping her head out between Cak Dika's body and Rachel.

Seeing that, Rachel laughed and gave a thumbs up. Rachel then chose to sleep; her eyes were already exhausted
